TCD- just back from the Fort- read my ramblings here!

A few more photos of Halloween decorations;

This rig was on the 700 loop. Check out the fancy Mickey lamp post!

Also on the 700 loop, we loved the Mickey ghost. There was also a hand painted sun shield on the motor home's windshield. Very creative folks here!:

This is a shot of the back of a site on the 700 loop. Low light so a little blurry:

Are there any Snow White fans in the house?

If so, these photos are for you.

Here are all seven of the dwarves!:

Extra credit if you can name them all- in order, from left to right!

Ya think he's catching renegade peacocks with those milk crates and cramming them down that hole beneath the laptop? I bet that hole is a tunnel to the castles dungeon, where many a'good peacocks shackled to walls and are forced to watch the disney line of anime cartoons over and over until they cave in and give up the info on whos been throwing the shoes onto the tree. Yeah...that's the ticket.:sad2:

And I love that Haunted House that you have to walk through, what a great idea. I have a feeling that next year I might have to make a special trip to the store for some inflatable Halloween toys :)

FWIW, they had those haunted houses at BJ's this year. I don't know if it was the same one, but close. I thought about getting one, but passed as I know the kids around here would destroy it (little hooligans), but now I wish I had so I could take to to FW as an entrance to our MH. That's a cool idea.

What trip report would be complete without some photos of the Fort's wildlife?

So, here you go:

This is a deer that we saw at about 1 am (we were heading back from MNSSHP on 10/18) she was right by the brush along the Meadows pool. And, yes, there were people swimming, quite a few actually. At 1 am in the middle of October. Got to love the Fort:

A flock of turkeys invaded the 1000 loop in the afternoon on Saturday. These photos also show how cleared out the 1000 loop is- you can see the back of every campsite clearly from the road:

Here are a couple of leaping armadillos:

What is this all about?

See the overturned fake rock? These are located along Fort Wildeness Trail, adjacent to the back of the 500 loop.

There are quite a few large rocks along the road at this area of the Fort. What else are they hiding from us?

I always figured that "Camp David" was a code name for somewhere way more funner - Can't you see sneaking Reagan or Clinton or BushJr. in through a secret rock and letting them out with say Putin or Thatcher so they can ride the Tower of Terror after closing? :rotfl:

it's where they hide the people who ask the incessant questions.

These are really peacocks disguised as turkeys!!
They're on a search and recover mission for the hot water lines & beer taps!!

(They thought us Dis-camper's couldn't figure it out! :lmao: )

I think that the peacocks need to hire a lawyer and sue.

This is blatant discrimination!

Why do these turkeys get to hang out at the Fort, and the peacocks had to go?

Where is Musket Mickey when you need him?

Here is a photo of something interesting.

This is a guy after my own heart (it has to be a guy).

A pop-up camper with satellite TV!:

You want more?

I got more!

So, here is something new.

As we all know, the petting zoo has kind of declined in the past few years.

But, there were still a few goats, a couple of sheep, and a pot bellied pig or two left.

No more.

It is just ponies now in all the pens.

There are new signs on all of the gates that say do not feed or pet the horses or ponies.

So, the no petting the critters at the petting zoo- got it?

Here's your sign:

Here's a pony:

They're nice to look at, but I miss the good old days when the kids could get in there and pet the critters. And, the little machines that sold the goat food. Good times.

There were several county fairs in Florida that had/have petting zoo's that kids were getting an illness similar to e-coli. The one fair that I know of (Strawberry Festival in Plant City) had signs and hand washing stations just outside the exit to the petting area, but did the parents heed the signs????? Noooooooooooooooo! Their kids got sick & they (parents) tried to sue. (A very heinous way to extract money, IMHO)

I think Disney is simply trying to avoid a deep-pockets lawsuit. Sad. :sad2:

Yes, I remember that very well. For a while after that, though, there was still a petting zoo at Animal Kingdom. Haven't taken the train out there in a while, so I am not sure what is going on out there. I'm sure that you remember that there used to be a petting zoo at Busch Gardens in Tampa. That was closed a while back. The Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa used to have a petting zoo. I'm not sure that it does any more.

I can't say that I blame Disney. This didn't make them any money, so why take the risk?

I posted the photos, because those little horseshoe signs are new.

musket mickey shot the peacocks..... they wouldn't keep their beaks shut.

The rumor I heard was Musket Mickey was over at FTWildernessGuy's site drinking Kungaloosh when the peacocks were making all kinds of racket and he busted out with the musket and not only was that the end of the peacocks but it gave Mickey a bad rap therefore Disney felt it only right to strip him of the musket so the kids didn't get the wrong idea. I say long live Musket Mickey.

As for the pop up with the satellite I say go for it. I love having my 31' 5'er but miss the days of hooking up the 22' toy hauler and just going for a day or two. Now I feel we've got to go at least 3 days or more to make it worth while. What I wouldn't give for the good ol days back lol.

The Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa used to have a petting zoo. I'm not sure that it does any more.

The last time we were at Lowry Park (August - how stupid am I?), I didn't see the petting zoo. It must be gone, unless it's been moved to a different area. :confused3

Your pictures are terrific!!! Keep 'em comin'!!!

Stacktester, you're giving Musket Mickey a bad name by insinuating he shot the peacocks! We all know it was Donald Duck who snuck into Ftwildernessguy's site, swigged some Kungaloosh, stole Mickey's Musket, and went on a peacock shooting rampage!!! I heard it first hand from a reliable cast member!! :rotfl:
