Taxi's Vs Mears Transportation

Hi,

We are a couple who will be flying into Orlando International on September 28 with a 10:30 am arrival.

Do you think it would be faster to get a taxi at the airport to take to our hotel on international drive, or Mears Transportation? Which would be faster...I figure the cost is about the same for both.

Any help or info or suggestions would be appreciated.

A taxi will be much much much faster.

Taxis are waiting, you take the first one in line and you go directly to your resort.

By contrast, Mears shuttles are shared rides. You will have to wait for it to leave (when they feel they have enough people on-board), you may have to make other pick-up stops on the airport grounds, and then you'll likely have stops at other hotels before you arrive at yours.

Truly, it's not even a close call to decide which will get you to your hotel quicker.

As far as cost, it depends how many people are in your party. If you have just 2, Mears will be cheaper. But if you have 3, it may be about even, maybe a slight edge to the taxi. 4 or more, taxi is definitely cheaper.

You can also considermaking an reservation with a car service. It will cost only slightly more than a taxi, but you get a much higher level of service, including the driver meeting you at baggage claim and helping you with your bags.

I've used all 3 as transportation from the airport - taxi, Mears & town car (ME as well). A taxi was the fastest & most economical (for 2 people). Town car was next fastest (they meet you but then have to go get the town car fom another parking area - anyway that's whay they told me 2 yers ago, that they can't park right up at the terminal like taxis for security reasons) - but $$. We had a 15-minute wait for Mears transportation & made one other stop on the way to our resort as well.

Car service no longer goes to another parking lot to get a vehicle to pick you up, if they do I would not use them again as they are operating illegally at MCO. When you meet the driver and get your luggage he will take you downstairs to the first floor and go to the inside of the terminal, not outside where the taxis are, where the vehicle will be parked. You load and on the way. The car service process is now faster than the taxi process to get going as the vehicle is usually park right below the baggage area you are picking up at.

The only difference between taxis and car service would be the rates. You can usually get cheaper rates from the independent car service companies who do not follow the Mears and noted companies, who raise their transportation rates when Disney raises their rates. Taxis run on a meter and are subject to increases when Mears gets approval from the city and are there for anyone who did not make transportation arrangements prior to landing Orlando. Car service can only pick you up if you have contacted them prior to arriving in Orlando.

In car service you will find the best maintained vehicles, mechannically and clean (may not true in the taxi system), and most amicable drivers who will cater to your every needs.
