taxi ride costs

hey, there! i am totally unfamiliar with taxi cab fares as we really don't use them when we're at disney because we always drive. i have a friend who is staying at the buena vista palace (near DTD) and is flying. so i'm wondering what the average cost would be from the orlando international airport to the DTD area? it would be 2 adults and 4 kids, so one of the taxi minivans i would think.

also, any idea what the average cost from the DTD area to universal would be?

There's a taxi fare estimator in the "Popular Transportation Links" sticky, or you can get to it through mearstransportation.com, then select 'taxi' from the tool bar across the top.

Since another poster couldn't get it to work right, I will tell you that the fare from the airport to the Downtown Disney area is about $52 plus tip; Buena Vista Palace may be a little bit less.

If the estimator doesn't work, cab fare is about $2.75 per mile after the first mile; the first mile is about a dollar more.

Cab fare from Mears is $2.20 for the first 1/4 mile and then .55 for each 1/4 mile.
