OK, let's see if the cm's last year were right or wrong. ;)

Last year when changing resorts, I made sure to have all in place a day before to make sure nothing would be messed up, like my tubefeeds not being able to be exposed to the full sun, not wanting pumps damaged etc. So I decided to make the move with a taxi, keeping my eye on things myself, and a day before the move tried to make arrangements. No such thing. Had about a dozen different CM's into the discussion before I knew it (one would call the other in etc. ), ranging from front desk to luggage to parking, resort manager etc. All were sure of it; there are NO accessible taxis that use a lift instead of a ramp. Unfortunately a ramp does not work for me. That move got taken care of in the disney way. The resort manager sent a CM out with their own car and all my medical stuff and was told not to leave it out of his sight. That happened to such an extend the CM didn't even want to trust the CM's at the next resort with it. :rolleyes1 I took a quick bus transport and move was complete.

Anyhow, forward to this years trip. If it does happen, I will do some offside stuff again. For most Lynx works out fine, but not for my grocery run. I know, most will think I'm nuts but it's a part of relaxation for me to browse around and pick up all of those things I and my family are addicted to but are not available at our side of the ocean. Uptil now I would use a regular taxi with my manual chair and totally overdo it by dragging myself through the store. Decided no more. Unfortunately going with the manual and using a store provided ecv will not be an option (need very specific support etc. which is avail on both my chairs but no option on an ecv, let alone a rental). So powerchair grovery run it is!

But; were the cm's last year correct in saying there is no accessible taxi with a lift, stating that all would be ramp ones? Or is this just one of those wellknown they-cant-know-it-all-subjects and is it indeed an option? And if it is an option, does anybody happen to know the max. heigth chair can be transported? My powerchair is higher then the 'norm' because of some extra adjustments, which results in it not always fitting the accessible options back home (for instance a Mercedes Vito is a very common option here, but no way it comes close to fitting) so I know I'ld better do my homework on this department before planning and finding it does not work.

Yes the cms was correct mears use mini vans as their accessible taxi so they all have ramps the only thing is if the have accessible vans but I don't think they do you could call mears and ask but I think the cms are right. If you go on mears transportion their number you Dan call and it give info on their fleet you most pillory will have to call or email because they don't go into specific on the accessible cabs. You might be able to get the answer you lookin for.

Here is a link for a non emergency medical transportation company with full size vans with lifts and extended roofs. http://mymfpt.com/

Thanks for posting glad their an option op I would call and ask how many an go with you. It an ambulet service and they ussally only take a guest in wheelchair and maybe one other person. Again I could be wrong that how it is in new York.

I talked to several people at Mears today about this. The news is not good.

Their taxis are only ramp equipped, they do not have any with lifts.

Some of their shuttle vans are lift equipped, but from Disney can only go to/from Universal or Sea World daily, or to the Florida Mall and Premium Outlets two days a week.

A lift-equipped shuttle van can be reserved for an exclusive trip, but will cost about $180 plus a mandatory 15% gratuity for one way travel, reserved and paid in advance.

Also, you can check out www.golynx.com which is the bus line. All of their buses are lift-equipped. The 111 route goes to Florida Mall, and the 300 series local routes all serve WDW and you can see thir maps and timetables on the Lynx site.

Thanks for checking that out Cheshire, talk about going above and beyond! :flower3:

Real shame to find the info was correct, but it is what it is. I know all about Lynx, have been using them happily over the years to the different malls etc. Actually love them. ;) I know worst case scenario I could even Lynx to both target and walmart, but not particularly first choice option with the time it consumes.

Thanks also to Michigan for the link. Have checked it out, am wondering what (if any, as it most likely would come down to you hand full of guys living in the area) experiences are using linked company? Coming from a place where some alike options are well....... interesting to use (read no transportation or wrong one too many times), truth be told I'ld be a bit hesitant to use such an option without any positive feedback.
