Does anyone know approximately what the taxi fare is from the port to Coki Beach in St. Thomas? Two in our group are planning on diving at Coki Beach and the dive shop will pick us up and take us from the port to the beach. The price for the divers is included in the price of the dive, but the price for those of us not diving is $10 one-way. Just wondering if we'd be better off taking a cab (there will be 4 of us paying the $10 charge each). And we will be on our own to catch a taxi from the beach back to the port. Are taxis plentiful in that area or will we be on a search for the holy grail?

TIA!
Jen

It's been a while since I've been to Coki, but I would think that you could save a few bucks taking a taxi. With the "Shopping in Paradise Guide" they give you with the daily Navigator, they used to list the fares between the cruise ship pier and varous points around the island. Someone who's cruised recently may be able to add more info.

As to finding a taxi, I've never had a problem with this any any Caribbean port. Most cab drivers will arrange a time to return and take you back to the ship, and they are very reliable in my experience. If not, there are plenty of taxis around. If all else fails, Coral World is right next to Coki Beach, and they could call a cab for you.
