Tattoos.

So now you're laughing at our religious views?

Yes we do. Not ashamed of it either.

thanks for lopping me out of the religion, honey. i never said that i wasnt christian.

and im so happy for you that you arent ashamed of it. i, however, think its a little old and repetitive to not like something and not understand something so therefore some people feel that the bible will back them up and justify why they are right and everyone else who isnt christian or is "acting" christian is wrong.

you are the one that stated that tattoos are against god. and its a sin. someone else already posted the verse about WHY a tattoo would be a sin. just because someone gets a tattoo, doesnt mean they are sinning. disobeying parents to get one is a sin. theres a difference.

and i was laughing at the fact that the verse was posted. it obviously isnt saying girls cant braid their hair and wear pearls. its stating that you dont HAVE to wear them to honor god with your body.

sorry to bring the thread off topic again.

Just curious, but where do you see in the Bible where giving birth is dirty? And Eating seafood is no longer dirty. The rule was only in place to protect the Jews from getting diseases caused my eating seafood back then. Jesus ate fish too.

I'm pretty sure I read it on this website: www.gotquestions.org

Also, if seafood is no longer dirty and that was a rule for THAT time period why is being gay still such a big sin? I don't understand why some things are ok now while others are not.

ETA: I found the verse

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, ... If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days. ... And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days. ... But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days. Leviticus 12:1-5

thank you.
thats what ive been trying to say.

I understand if in that time period they thought diseases were spread by being gay but now we know better. We know disease is spread by gays and straights and you have to be careful either way.

You can't have it both ways. Seafood was dirty and it's in the Bible for the people's good back then but now it's safe. Well WHY on earth is it not the same way for gay people?

umm...i have LOTS of opinions on the whole religious aspect of this whole thread but i kind of hate confrontation so i'm gonna go ahead and keep my mouth shut...

anywhooo, i love kat von d's tattoos. not so much the face ones although i love the stars but i love the rest of them i also think she is an amazing artist...besides the tattoos
i would love to get a tattoo someday, my mom isn't so thrilled about it but she said that she doesn't care as long as it's after i turn 18.
My chorus teacher has a music note on the back of her shoulder and one of my best friend's mom actually works in a tattoo place. she has the giving tree on her back with her kid's initials in a heart on it, it's sooooo cool.

i'm not sure what i would want, but i'm thinking it will be music or love related since those are two things that i'm never going to regret.
I'm always going to be in love with music and I'm always going to believe in love so i think that works out.

i love something as simple as this one i don't something insane cause I know I'll regret that someday

Interestingly enough, I plan on getting a treble cleft (like the one pictured above but probably without the stars and stuff no offense)
I'm 18 so I can get it anytime I want now.
I either want it on my right shoulder (on the back) or an off center 'tramp stamp' so it would be on my lower back but all the way to the right. I hope that made sense...
:)

I want to get a tattoo of something that means something to me...in my opinion it makes you closer to the thing you are getting a tattoo of. Anything that is done because it has a message is perfectly acceptable, but when you get one that doesn't mean anything more than oops shouldn't have gotten drunk at that party then it upsets me...

Like how girls on these dating shows will get the guys name tattooed on them. That's just ridiculous, IMO. Those are the people who don't care about their body.

none taken...i just like the stars

i'll prob get it on the back of my shoulder but i'm not a fan of the tramp stamps actually...

omg like that girl on rock of love who had brett's name tattooed on her neck and then he didn't pick her...that was bad

I'm convinced that everyone who gets their lover's name tattooed on them are going to split with that person later on.

I love FFX and FFX-2, so this guy's tattoo made me smile:

I am also thinking I'd like something like this:
ofop-the-answer-to-life.jpg

actually...something exactly like that. Just maybe not the top of my foot.

And this one's kinda neat. It's "Livestrong" in Binary.
nq1u-livestrong-in-binary.jpg

I also like this one:
ns5a-ekg.jpg

The girl in question is an RN and that's her actual heartbeat (minus the heart shaped piece). My heartbeat is nowhere near that neat.

"Start Love. End Hate." pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
n0zs-html-tag-wrist.jpg

I'd also kinda like a small "xxx" somewhere. To symbolize the fact that I'm straight-edge. Ideally, I'd like a pair of 'x's. One on the back of each hand. But, going into teaching, it probably wouldn't go over too well.

i love Jacoby Shaddix's knuckels
938795744_4b26372d71_o.jpg

the other side says hate

A person I work with has that on their knuckles.
It's my least favorite tattoo of his, but his isn't done very well.
I believe has a rose on his abs, that I absolutely love tho.

I love tattoos. But meaningful ones, not tramp stamps or random ones that have no meaning.

My mom is thinking about getting a tattoo when she is able to and bringing me along for one. She wants a butterfly on her foot, to symbolize freedom. She wanted us to get matching ones, so I'd either get a butterfly on my foot, or love with a heart on my inner left wrist. It's like the symbol for TWLOHA, because I did/do suffer from depression, I self harmed myself once, and I think low of myself. I really want the heart and love to always remind me to love myself and to always stand strong.

my friend has a mad tattoo on her foot, its blue and lie flowers on a vine. she and her sister got them together

in leviticus, when a woman was menstrating she was considered dirty, and any one who touched her was considered dirty.

oh noes. menstrual blood. we're all going to hell. right along with those shrimp eaters.

seriously. i love how hit and miss the old testement is. when someone doesn't agree with it its the "OLD RULES THAT WE DON'T LISTEN TO ANYMORE" but when someone is gay, oh noes, lets pull out leviticus.

leviticus also says that women are unclean after giving birth, for 33 days if its a boy and 66 days if its a girl. i was reading some of leviticus last night after i read this thread.

i think the thing with the old laws is that some of them still apply, like respecting the elderly and not murdering or stealing and stuff, but some of it can be taken as a metaphor, like not wearing clothes made of 2 different fabrics can be a metaphor for not following 2 religions or something.

personally, i dont agree with homosexuality, but its not my job to judge. i love gay people. "ellen" is one of my favourite shows. i try to look past their sexual orientation. im sure there are things about me that you could all judge me on.

I think small tattoos on the wrist or foot are really really cute, but I hear that they're also the most painful. I'd actually love to get a tattoo on my inner wrist, but I'm afraid of the pain, and it's not really discreet enough. I'd never want to not be able to get a job because of a small tattoo.

Anywhere with tendons exposed close to the surface will hurt. The top of your foot/back of you hand, you inner wrist, anywhere with bone too. So places like your ankle (achilles tendon...ow) knee, hip, elbow and such. Black ink also tends to "hurt" the most according to my brother in law.

I have 2 tattoos, and I'm currently designing/planning my third, which I hope to get in May.

They all have meaning to me, and all are able/will be able to be covered.

My first I got just over a year ago. It's a monarch butterfly on my foot/ankle. My second I got in June, it's 3 stargazer lilys on the side of my lower back, sort of near the back/bottom of my ribs.

My third is a quote with a branch of a cherry blossom wrapping around it.
The quote is: "and in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. it's the life in your years".
I'm getting it on my ribs, but it will wrap a little to my back. I cannot wait to get it done!

ETA: My foot tattoo hurt most near the achilles tendon, and my flowers hurt most near the ribs. haha so i'm sure my next will be a joyyyyyy. =)
