Tattoo Policy on the cruise?

So how many posts does a Disboard member have to have before you take them seriously?

I found the last 2 comments to be very rude. Of course it is a serious post, why wouldn't it be?

Mike

I never said a post count made someone serious or not.
I said infrequent posts. The OP is a infrequent poster.
You can look at their post's to verify that yourself.

And then you can make of that what you will.

Ex Techie :)

A lot of it is a west coast thing. In the greater Seattle area, it's odd to see any adult without at least one tiny tattoo. Unless you're working for one of the big accounting firms, no one hides them.

On our Disney vacations, some of our best conversations start with people admiring my husbands work. We've met a lot of cast members that way, it's almost like they want to admire even more because they can't show theirs.
:confused3 I guess DH and I are odd then...

31,500 sounds about right to me, anyone else. I know I won't touch that.

insert "bow / praise emotion" that I can't find.:confused3

HTH

OK, I got confused as usual. I thought EXT was referring to lillygator in post 39, being sarcastic. But EXT was referencing the original OP. Whatever, ignore my posts in this thread, especially MND :thumbsup2

I still think everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone should respect that, regardless of # of posts or join date. I enjoy reading opinion, our I wouldn't be here!!!
:goodvibes

FWIW, lillygator, we fell in love with Siesta Key. Incredible. The kids especially love the coarse sand, filled with sea shells. ;) Ha Ha.

ETA; It's weird, I was shut down by Disboards. It said server error/timeout, yet my post posted without me clicking submit, strange. I do like that it allows you to edit your submitted post for a minute prior to posting you actually did edit your post. Does that make sense? For us non spellers.

My husband has two large dragon tattoos on each of his forearms and another on his wrist. I think unless it is offensive such as crude language or a crude image Disney has no problems.

I don't think even THEN Disney has any opinion. I have yet to hear of someone ever confronted or ejected as a result of tattoos. No worries!

The closed-minded attitudes/posts on tattoos really shocks me. *checking calendar* This IS 2012, right?? I have had pastors at churches with tattoos, for goodness sake. Tattoos are a perfectly reasonable form of personal expression in this day and age, not some "mark of the devil"!:p

I'm pretty sure 4 letter words or a dirty image would prompt Disney to ask someone to cover up. And yes have several tattoos. It is the same as wearing a tee shirt with curse words or images that are not family friendly, if you know what I mean.

I've seen some inebriated young men come back from port wearing some pretty darn obnoxious t-shirts, with some very colorful words on them...and once two of them walked right up to Guest Services and asked a question....no one made them remove their shirts. :confused3

I got a tattoo for my 50th birthday (my second one) and when my doctor saw it, he said he sees a lot of women my age getting tattoos. Most of the time, I'm pretty classy....but I do draw the line at wearing a NASCAR hat. :car:
That was a joke....I don't wear hats of any kind, I look stupid in hats.

I'm a pastor as is my husband.. we serve meals to the hungry each week, he has a Doctorate in Ministry, I lead worship, run Bible studies and created a butterfly ministry here for parents who lose pregnancies or infants... I also have tattoos as does my husband. And I must say... I feel classy most days. :cool1:

Op- I would not worry at all about tattoos.. nor would I assume that the general population of your cruise will look negatively at y'all for any reason.

This is interesting - it never would have occurred to me to question tattoos ( though I am one of the big accounting firm tattoo hiders!).

In fact, I'm about to get a series of fairly large tattoos - butterflies in memory of my nephew who died this year from Epidermolysis Bullosa. PLEASE ask me about my butterfly tattoos should you see me on your cruise next spring. I would LOVE to tell you all about them. :)

I am a pediatric dermatology nurse, and I think that is awesome for you to honor your nephew with butterfly tattoos!

Tattoos do make people watching more fun, but I do support the sentiment that anything people display in public should be kid friendly- tattoos, tshirts, hats, belt buckles, and behavior included!;)

Well put :thumbsup2

My Daughter is heavily tattooed of ALL disney things even a portriat of Walt on her leg and at our upcoming cruise oct 14th she is the BRIDE on this cruise and with that said I think your friends will be fine :wave2:

I guess if this was on a Cunard type board it could be an issue for some but I see no problems whatsoever and from the DCL perspective one persons green is as good as another no matter what they look like.

I dislike tattoos so don't have any, but don't judge anyone that has and it would be kind of ironic as my DH has 9 from a mispent youth followed by a military career where it is kind of the one thing. People sometimes stare, they could be judging while hanging out of shorts that are three sizes too small which I would find more offensive than a girl or guy with tats, but I just stare back for him as he doesn't give a ----;)

How exciting. CONGRATS!

This whole thread shocks me to be honest.....

I just got my first tattoo in June. It's a fairly large Day of the Dead skull on my shoulder blade...
To be honest, I don't know if it would offend anyone or not, but I would not cover up if anyone asked me to. I'd just tell them not to look at it if it bothered them so much.

But that's just me.

I second that. I have several tattoos, including a zombie head in my arm. We're cruising at the end of the year and I never saw my tattoos as an issue. I can understand some people's reservations, but they're just so commonplace these days that I can't see there being an issue. I look forward to the people/tattoo watching! :)
