Tarzan Rocks RIP

Tarzan is my favorite character. I loved the show. I'm sad to see it go. Wish I could afford to go and see it on Broadway.

I remember I thought the show was terrible when I first saw it in 2001. But when I found out it was closing I decided to go see it anyway on my New Year's trip. I was amazed! It was instantly a new favourite - and still is even now it's over. I was so impressed I went back again on my last day and it was even better!!! The singers were really good (I'd seen one of the girls as Pocahontas a few days before so that was cool). I probably would have been a complete wreck if I went to one of the final performances - I totally agree about how hard it must be for the performers having to leave it all behind - but I'd still love to see how it all ended. Did anybody get a video of any of Saturday's performances?

Oh and to those people posting about how glad they are it's gone, nobody cares! The show wasn't doing you any harm where it was and it being closed will have no affect on you. You can keep on about it if you're that sad, but you won't get any of my attention.

There's nothing left to say, except Tarzan Rocks and always will! :woohoo:

Ha ha ... me and my dbf changed the name of this show from tarzan rocks to tarzan sucks!!! Tarzan is my fave Disney movie and I dont think the show does it justice.

I saw Tarzan Rocks for the first time in June, then again in August, October and December. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and was sorry to hear it is no longer at AK.

I think the person that started this thread was letting people know how much she enjoyed the show...the thread was not intended for people to talk negative about the show. I don't understand why some people feel the need to be negative about a positive thread. I know I don't post negative opinions on threads when someone is upbeat about something and I wish others would feel the same way!

As far as the CMs finding other jobs at WDW...I sure hope they do...and the comment about if they are good they will probably find a job was out of line. Apparently that person has never been without employment! Enough on the negativeness of this thread!

I LOVED Tarzan Rocks and am sorry to see it go!

I wish I had been able to attend the last show :( I had plans to be there but then they got changed. I will very much miss this show. It was my favorite.

Wish I could have attended. I was shocked and disapointed when I heard of the closing. I agree with those who say it is the best stage show at WDW. Thanks for the memories :sunny:

I first have to say something to those people on this thread who don't belong.

If you didn't like the show, just say it, you don't have to rude.

Many people did enjoy the show and if a version is coming to Broadway I don't think it was all that bad in the first place.

I will miss it greatly. This was the last movie I had seen with my Aunt and she loved it! So when I would see the show it brought back good memories.

I am sure the entertainers will find other work.

I can't wait to see the Broadway version I am sure it will totally rock!!

:hippie:

First I have to say we loved the Tarzan movie. It was one of the first movies my kids remember seeing at the theater. :goodvibes We have been to WDW several times and for some reason never caught this show. Last year when the kids and I went I made a plan to definitely see this show. We saw it and enjoyed it. My boys like the roller-blading and I felt there was something for everyone in my family. My best friend is so bummed that she missed this show on her first trip there. She is going back with us in a month and she asked me the other day (the 21st) when Tarzan was closing and I almost didn't have the heart to tell her it closed that day. She really wanted to see it next month and was hoping it might stick around longer. Anyway even though I only saw it once I'm glad I did and it will be missed by our family!

The performers from Tarzan HAVE found other work, just so everyone knows.

Well, actually Disney cares which is probably why they are closing the show...right?? Do you see Festival of the Lion King "on the block"...no, why? Because it is a good show, no one wants to see it go. Tarzan Rocks clearly had issues which is why it is being replaced\.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion which is what these boards are designed for. Sure the show wasn't doing us any harm by being there, but by putting something better in it's place it will have an affect on me.

That said, no I did not like the show, yes it is my own opinion, no I didn't mean to sound rude...and Random Prince..those of us with opposing opinions certainly did get your attention.

:rolleyes2 Wow

We saw the show on 1-16 and noticed they had a different lead singer from last year's show. This guy had black hair and was short. I thought the guy that was bald was a better singer.

I just wanted to add a couple things I forgot to post before. The noon show on Saturday was the last show for several of the performers. I was with some CM friends standing near the rest room near the Tarzan show after the noon show. One of the musicians came out from back stage to leave. He greeted his friend/family member and said something that really touched my heart after such an emotional performance. He said, "well, I guess after all these years God has other plans for us." Not too long my friends and my family headed off to ride the Everest ride. Behind my son and I in the fast pass line was one of the monkeys from the Tarzan show. He made me smirk as he tried to climb one of the poles as we got stopped approaching the train station. When we exited the ride, we could hear the VERY last Tarzan show.

I have always enjoyed this show. I made my friend see it with me on my November trip, and she is a huge WDW fan and thought the show was a waste of her time. It was funny how we disagree on that one. I loved the songs, the rollerskating, and the rock band...it was a cute show. I have to agree however, that it could never compete with the Lion King show. Maybe it is the theatre, maybe the sets.
I am really glad I got to enjoy it through the years. I am glad that the performers have found other gigs. I wish them luck, and hope to see them in their new endeavors! :moped: :wave2:

Yeah I'll admit I did read that. I needed a good laugh! :rotfl2: Thanks. What a waste of your time!

You're right about being entitled to your opinions and everything, but have a heart. This is a chance for us all to say goodbye to something we really loved. There's no need to be so smug that you got your way.

Did anyone see or hear about the last Tarzan Rocks show yesterday? I am curious since the lead actor was injured last week-

Who was the lead singer who was hurt? When we were there in Dec, we saw the show with a slightly older lead, on the tall side? He was awesome. I may have seen him written up in one of the last Disney Magazines. Anybody know the actors?

Michelle

We seen it in Dec trip for the last time.

We drove up Saturday to see this show for the last time. It has always been one of our favorites simply for one reason: LIVE MUSICIANS! I get so tired in our culture seeing shows that are lip synced to pre recorded music when there is so much talent that could do a real show like Tarzan did. We arrived at the park and missed the 1:45 show by about 10 people. My wife stayed in line for the last show at 3:15 while I took the kids on some rides. I have to tell you, it was one of the most incredible shows I have ever seen anywhere due to the fact that we surrounded by so many family members from the cast on stage cheering them on. I was bummed that the guitar player who has always perfomed had played his last show at noon that day. The bass player who has been there since the show opened closed it out in great style. Good luck to the musicians, singers, and everyone else involved in this show, it was a great ride while it lasted.
