Are Target, Walmart, or anywhere else having back to school supply sales today? I have read that Target and Walmart are really picked over, but maybe Marc's or somewhere else? Or maybe Target or Walmart re-stock and continue the sale? Anyone know?

All of our stores are just starting to put school supplies out. We only need the basic stuff so it doesn't matter if it's half gone or not. Kmart, Walmart and Target have been very competitive price wise with the glue, pencils, etc. I was at Kmart yesterday and they were just unpacking stuff, probably for the ad that came out today.

I would definitely check Target and Walmart anyway. The "picked over" rate depends on when your kids are going back to school. Down here they start August 7, so everybody is starting to get ready. We hit Target this morning because I needed something and when I passed by the school aisle, I did notice that they still had most of everything except the $.20 crayons. Other things were on sale, but they still had plenty left.

I can't believe it's time for school to start again!!

We hit Target, but also had to go to Staples for some of the items. The 2 pack glue sticks for 20 cents were gone, but I found one out of place. However, I needed two. Couldn't find pencils with red lead at Target (kids exchange papers, and grade other child, I think).

It looked like the folders with prongs were gone in the colors I needed, but then I checked the regular office supply/school supply asile and found some. Got to Staples, and they were only 5 cents there.

Next year I am just going to an Office Supply Store! More selection, less picked over. Also, good sales. :teacher:

Just take your Target sale papers to Office Max -- I hate Staples -- and have them price match.

I think office max is having a good sale this week. Kmart looks good too. I went to the Xmas tree shop earlier this week and bought a pack of pencils, scissors, pencil sharpener and package of erasers.

I also prefer the office supply stores for school supplies because they have more sales people. Two people at Staples ask me if I needed help finding something. They were no where to be found at Target.

We don't have an Office Max, ours closed, it was not in a good location. There is a rumor they might be back, since they just got the office supply contract for one of the universities here.

Walgreens is also having sales these days. Some of the deals are actually pretty good.
Don't forget, if you participate in sunshine rewards, Staples.com is one of the partner links and you get points from them. Free shipping right now, from what I can understand.

I don't know where in NE Ohio you are, but the Target by me (in University Heights) doesn't even have all it's school supplies out yet. Personally, I would wait a few days for them to finish the setup rather than going to Marc's. Of course, I'd rather have my fingernails pulled out one by one than go to Marc's ( I need a sedative to go in there), but that's just me ;)

I just bought the kids' school supplies last night at Target. I ALWAYS get lots of extra stuff, like pencils, glue, crayons, etc. Because in January, the kids will come home with a list of more supplies they will need. And buying school supplies then cost alot more money.

Anyway, for 2 children (2nd grade and K), it cost me around $100 for their school supplies, backpacks, and lunch boxes. For "extras", I have 10 notebooks, 1 large box of pencils, 8 boxes of crayons, 4 bottles of glue, 2 glue sticks, a pack of erasers, 2 scissors, and probably some more stuff I can't think of right now.

Oh, and I couldn't find a red pencil at Target either.

They only started putting stuff out here in the last 10 days so I assume we'll still see lots of restocking. We won't get DS's general supply list for another 2-3 weeks at least. However, we don't start school until 9/6 so we still have another 6 weeks of vacation. It's the clothing I'm more worried about than the supplies though.
