I got my Target toy book in the mail yesterday and I thought it was a dud. Very few coupons compared to prior years and other than the lego coupon, nothing we will really use. The silver lining was the $5 off $50 toy purchase coupon stuck on the back, but that was about it. Bummer.
I think it is a dud all around! I didn't think the Toys R Us toy book was all that great either. DS9's comment was that it was lousy!! It will be interesting to see what the sales hold this year. I'm not holding my breath, good thing my list is small!
I have been following bfads.net for years and how found them to be reliable and they've posted basically the same thing. From the bfads.net website:
Can you imagine a Black Friday without Target? That may be the case this year according to comments made by John Mulligan, CFO of Target, at this year's Goldman Sachs' Global Retailing Conference:
"[We're] not interested in driving sales for the sake of sales... you might see us lag competitors again as it relates to [same-store] sales increases."
Rather than continually undercutting their competitors' holiday sales prices, Mulligan says Target would rather concentrate their efforts on a new cobranded apparel line with Neiman Marcus (which features items ranging from $7.99 to $499.99) instead of "[focusing] so much on the lowest price of a 44-inch television."
That's a bummer! I don't get in to BF sales but it stinks that the Toy catalog isn't as good as previous years. I have usually done fairly well using those coupons in the past. Glad my kids are getting past a lot of the toy stages too.

My DS10 was unimpressed with the TRU book, too. We don't get the Target one so I can't comment on that. They did advertise a $25 gift card with an ipod touch, so we bought him one for Christmas. I think he'll be pleasantly surprised.
It wasn't that great; but if you have a son who likes Legos the $5 coupon, plus the $5 off $50, plus the $10 gift card you receive on most of the larger sets of Legos right now is a great deal. I doubt whether I'll be saving more than $20 on a set on Black Friday. I'm not sure if they have gift cards with other types of toys right now since I was only in the Lego aisle.
Okay, just looked through the Target toy book online. Definitely buying Legos for Xmas this year, so I was hoping for a good deal. $5 off coupon for Legos - yay! - until I saw the fine print that says it's not good on Lego Friends. Boo
When I got the catalog in the mail I immediately flipped it over to see the coupon on the back but I didn't have one! oh well. There were a couple inside that I might use. $5 off a Disney princess item and there was another one but I can't remember now I'll be really bummed if they don't participate in Black Friday. My mom and I do that every year and that's our thing
