Honestly, we all have coupon fraud to blame for this problem. When folks abuse coupons (using them for wrong items, trying to make money off of them, buying $25 of deoderant for "free" after coupons, and then returning them for CASH, counterfiet & altered coupons, etc., etc.,) it makes it hard for the rest of us who use coupons responsilbly.
You will have mis-informed or mis-understood cashiers and sometimes even managers (especially those who normally don't work the front end) in part because of the blatent fraud that happens EVERY DAY.
As an example, there is a "coupon mom" who comes to my store, kids in tow. Buys dozens of air freshners, crest white strips, deoderant, razors, etc... Everything has a coupon. Then she goes to customer service and RETURNS IT ALL! Gets full dollar amount and walks out with extra CASH. She is defrauding all those manufacturers, and thinks it is okay to teach her children such values. It is soo not cool, I cannot stop her or say anything (but soo wish I could!)
You know why? Because when I was shopping and had a legitimate b1g1 free coupon for Schick Razors, I went for the largest size my coupon would allow.... because my husband *uses* them... not because I was going to return them and pocket $10. And whaddya know, I get an actual MANAGER trying to deny my coupon because it wasn't the same as the photo on the coupon. He was a manager from another department "covering" the front lanes.
Just sayin' ... we have dishonest coupon abuse to thank for all the trouble we get using coupons. And it isn't just Target. Some stores just flat out refuse internet coupons, some limit the amount used, etc., etc., Kroger,
Walmart, Randalls, etc... they can all be stinkers about coupons too.
I was at the Springfield Mall Target and I hate it there. They always treat me like I am stealing from them. I am actually helping pay their paycheck by shopping there. I love the Burke store and I've been to the Fredericksburg store because that is where my car dealer is and that store is nice but small(plus they have a Starbucks). I demanded to see their coupon policy but they didn't even have one to show me. It's pretty sad I would have to carry around a copy of their own stores policy. I was actually on the phone with corporate while standing in their guest services department. I got names and filed formal compliants againt the supervisor who was being beyond difficult with me and my purchases.
I understand about the item not being pictured but how about the store Manager actually trying to tell me my $1 off any 2 means I would have to purchase two and I woudl get $1 off each one? HUH??? Really? I tried to explain what the coupon actually meant and she just was not getting it.
