TARGET: Red Square plates- Ceramic Question

Did anyone purchase square red (really pretty!) ceramic plates at Target around Christmas time? They say "Home" "Alpine Snow" "made in China" on the back. I have large dinner plates and smaller ones, maybe salad or dessert plates. I have a worry... they are glazed ceramic. On the bottom there are a couple of rings, where I assume they sat in a kiln, where they are NOT GLAZED so they are bare ceramic. When I stack them in the cabinet, the bottom raw part leaves powdery residew on the top of the plate below it.
Target didnt know what to tell me. Well, I dont want to feed my kids on lead , and I dont know how to check for that or if it even is a concern. Anyone here know anything about his kind of thing?

You could get a test kit to see if they are hazardous. Sorry, I'm not much help.
