Target prices on school supplies

I know that Target has some pretty cheap prices on school supplies. Bought a few last year, and they were all garbage - sharpener broke, glue bottle broke and got clumpy and pens dried up.

We like to spend a little more and get better quality products, like Crayola, but am wondering as we will be shopping at Target this weekend for a US getaway, so what are current prices for stuff like: markers, crayons, erasors and glue?

Our prices are pretty good at Staples here in Canada, and we get teacher discounts, so they are close to Target, but some stuff like Crayola markers, are on sale for $2.96 a pack here, or a bundle from Costco for $10.00 with 5 packs in it.

I saw the online Target flyer, but it only had a few things listed. Can anyone who has just bought back to sale supplies at Target give me a few prices?

Thanks so much, Tiger :)

I can't remember all the prices at our Target and probably bought some stuff on sale, so the prices might differ, but here is what I can remember:

Elmer's school glue - regular price 40 cents (back to school regular price - it is more during the rest of the year)
Rose Art school glue - regular price 20 cents
two pack Sharpies - $1
24 count Crayola crayons - 40 cents? - I didn't buy any this year

I think I paid 99 cents for Crayola colored pencils. Seems like the markers were about $2, but the washable markers were closer to $3.

Target has a 2-pack of pink erasers for 20 cents, but I got the cap erasers at Staples when they were 10 cents each.

I find Target to be less than Staples for name brands unless Staples has them on sale. Staples has better sales, although I haven't been as impressed this year.

Thanks. That is helpful.

Some of those prices are the same as I paid, but I also got an additional teacher discount, and some are more.

My cousin called me from there the other day, and said the Rose Art products are a lot cheaper, but we find that those products aren't that great.

Thanks! Tiger

Tiger, we're heading to Target this afternoon to get school supplies, so I can let you know the prices of stuff we bought when we return. :)

Oh, thanks!

We have a lot of school supplies here, with me being a teacher, but I am also picking up supplies for my nieces, and some extra stuff for my kids, that we ran out of, so that is helpful.

Thanks so much, Tiger

You're welcome. :)

Is there anything other than markers, crayons, erasers and glue you want me to check on?

Oh, no, that is great! I want to pick up donation school supplies as well, so I'll stick with those supplies, as mentioned.

How nice of you! Have a great shopping trip, Tiger :)

Thanks. This isn't really a shopping trip I look forward to, but I'm hoping it will be relatively painless this year.

As a teacher, I :lovestruc school supply shopping, but each year it does get more expensive. It's great that we have our own little mini Staples over here, but stuff like glue, erasers and crayons need to be replensished often, as my kids also do a lot of crafts at home too, so I have to do a bit of shopping, which I don't mind!

Hope your trip is painless, Tiger :)

Here is what I got yesterday:
12 Pack Elmer's Glue Sticks $2.99 (there is also a 6 pack for $1.99)
24 Count Crayola Crayons
Many backpacks for $9.99 - $14.99 (I got a Tinker Bell for $14.99 and Star Wars for $9.99)

Kids clothes were on Clearance. Some racks are 30% off and others are 75% off. I got several pieces of clothing for $1.17 a piece and $2.49 a piece in my kids' sizes for next summer.

Alright Tiger ~ here ya go!

Erasers ~ 20 cents
3 pk of glue sticks ~ $2.49 (ugh)
Crayola markers ~ $1.99
Crayola crayons (24 ct) ~ 40 cents
Crayola colored pencils (12 ct) ~ 99 cents

That's all I was able to scribble down for prices, since it was a madhouse and there was a screaming toddler that the darling's mother was completely ignoring. :headache:

My kids were begging to get out of there.

Thanks so much! You are awesome. This is so helpful. Close to the same prices as here, although erasers and crayons are much cheaper.

You were so helpful! I so appreciate this, and I'm sure it will help others plan out their school shopping as well.

Glad I could help. :flower3:

Now I just hope the prices don't change before you get there.
