Target 20% off coupon

Ok...stupid question because we have not cruised before and will not cruise until May 2014. Where are the Disney Gift cards at Target, and what can you use them for on the cruise? I have never seen Disney gift cards at our Target, but I wasn't really looking for them either. Thanks!

You can use them to pay for the cruise, the tips, and any on board purchases, including excursions. I think, but am not sure, that you can't pay the port taxes portion of the cruise with GCs.

The GCs are near the DVD/CDs and also by the front registers.

I use them as a way to help me set aside $ for the spa and other splurges. An extra $50 here and there on my grocery bill seems to sting less than $1000 all at once.

Not sure why you are doubtful about the 20% working on gift cards. The fine print is similar to the discount fine print for red card. Disney gift cards are not treated like target gift cards.
I think there are plenty of reasons to be cautious about this coupon working. It is true that Disney cards are coded as entertainment cards in the system, but several recent coupons that Target has released do NOT work on the entertainment cards (the last couple of rounds of home mailers, Viggle eCards, and the 10% off everything when you move to a new area). All of those examples listed have identical language to the Red Card and Pharmacy Reward card. So.. bottom line - some Target coupons work on entertainment cards and some don't. The recent trend has been that more of them don't than do.

Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, because I REALLY want the coupon to work, too! But if your plans for paying off a cruise hinge on this deal working, I'd find a Plan B. This is far from a sure thing. We'll just have to wait & see.

And for the record... it is pointless to call Target and ask. Even store managers won't know until the coupon goes live. If you call ahead, you might give them a heads up that people are planning on using them in this way, so they can tell cashiers not to allow it. They have the right to do that :scared1:

They do work for entertainment cards. I recently went to Target and bought 1 $50 card and used my Target card. I did get the 5% off of the card since that was all I bought I knew it worked.

I copied/pasted what is said about the Black Friday Deals:

$75 purchase must be made in a single transaction in stores on 11/29/13 between 12:01AM CST and store close, or online between 11/29/13 at 2:00AM CST and 11/30/13 at 1:59:59AM CST. Qualifying online guests will receive store coupon via email on 11/30/13. Target reserves the right to cancel coupon if the online order is cancelled. The $75 qualifier will be calculated after other discounts. Prescriptions, optical, clinical purchases, tax, and shipping and handling fees do not count toward the $75 qualifier. Limit one 20% coupon per guest to be used in a single transaction. Coupon redeemable in stores only and are valid December 1-7th. It is from the site below

Would the purchase of Disney entertainment cards qualify as the $75 purchase to qualify for the 20% off coupon?

I'm going to buy storage bins for my business on line on BF to get the coupon. Then I am going to bring my IPad into Target with me on Dec.1ST. And if even one person posts that they are able to use the 20% off coupon on Disney Cards and I am turned away... I will be very mad. You'd think that they would not turn away a $2000.00 sale. And I plan to buy other things too.

Good question DisneyDream2B. I never thought of that. It just says a $75 purchase it doesn't say what you have to buy. I was going to spend the 75.00 towards Christmas presents even though I can't stand shopping on Black Friday at any time of the day. But I am going to drag myself out to spend 75.00. :)

Make sure inform us right away. This topic has been brought up in DisCruiseBrides on FB. And there someone who just going on her cruise and bought you whole cruise, wedding and photographer from the ship all with Disney Cards and she was able to get all the discounts. I can't remember what she saved but it was a big amount. I wish I knew about that I could of paid for the first cruise we are going on Dec 15th 2014 before I paid off the cruise and wedding :(

That's ok though I still owe money for our Fantasy honeymoon/Christmas cruise right after the wedding cruise...so yes I am going to save money where ever I can. 2 cruise equals broke :)

To clarify... yes, both Red Card and Pharmacy Rewards card will work on Disney cards. I've used them both plenty of times myself, for over a year now.

The question is... will this 20% off coupon that they are giving out on Black Friday work on Disney cards? The answer is maybe, maybe not. If you follow Target deals beyond just this one (I do), it seems clear that recent coupons that have been released have changed. Even this summer, if you got a $5 off of any $50 purchase or $10 off of any $100 coupon mailed to your home from Target, they worked just fine on Disney (or other entertainment) cards. The SAME coupons with IDENTICAL wording that have been released in the fall DO NOT work on the cards.

Again, I am not trying to discourage anyone from trying it. I plan on being the first in line myself. But I did want everyone to temper their expectations, because there have been comments on this thread that might lead you to believe that there is no question that these coupons will work. That is not true.

Even if the store will lose money, you don't think they should turn away a $2000 sale? If someone offered you $2000 for your car, would you turn it away even if your car was worth more?

Many of the items at Target do not have a 20% profit in them, and these gift cards are one of them. Usually stores will have a 'loss leader' item and eat the cost so that you'll come to the store and spend more money on things they do make a profit on, but outright losing money on the cards is not in the business plan and that's why gift cards are usually excluded. How many gallons of milk can you drink in one week? Not much chance of the grocery store losing a lot of money on that loss leader. Many items at Target are priced more than 20% of the profit margin, but these cards aren't. Grocery stores sell postage stamps as a convenience to their customers, but they don't sell them at a loss.

I'm surprised Target didn't put more restrictions on the 20% off, but if they find an error, they can correct it, and one way to correct this one is to call the merchandize cards 'gift cards.' Problem (for them) solved.

I hope it works, but I can't fault Target for not giving out $100 bills if it doesn't.

They can be used to pay for your trip and to put as onboard credit. Buy them with the target card and save 5%, then used them to pay for your trip.

There is a link to the actual 20% coupon on page 2 of this thread. The coupons says that its not good on Apple products. Are you trading up?

Look at the actual BF ad. You could at least get a $100 Target gift card on a new Ipad purchase.

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that the 20% worked for the Disney cards last year. It will work!!!!! I hope. I paid for my entire trip with gift cards, and I am now collecting more for my onboard credit, and prepay tips...

One of the ladies in my cruise meet lives in OH and spoke with the Manager at her store. He showed her a copy of the actual 20% coupon and it DOES exclude gift and entertainment cards. I asked at my local Target (TX) yesterday and was told the same. Boo!

OH NO!!!!!!

So, Disney Cards are classified as entertainment cards, correct? I really want to see the coupon!

The fine print in the ad does not say what your friend was shown. I think we should fight it if they try to deny it! Any lawyers here ready to help?
