Target 20% off coupon

So, as an ex manager, what is the best way to get the manager on duty to cut us slack if the cards won't work? Think they can push a special button to make it happen?

I wish there was a magic button. All that was able to happen is change of price or a dispute about a price. Now they have changed the rules so much about being able to correct a mistaken price.

All I can say is everyone keep their fingers crossed :)

Folks, this is what we call a "fragile deal." It's not supposed to work. Someone used an obscure category when they inventoried some gift cards and the discount and coupons have worked. Target hasn't caught on yet because the volume of people taking advantage of the discount hasn't caused a problem.

If you call, you will ruin it for everybody. If you cause a scene in the store, you will ruin it for everybody. If you try to get an override by a manager, you will ruin it for everybody. If you see reports that the coupon works, but a cashier shuts you down, and you bring up forum posts as evidence that he should just try to see if it works, you will ruin it for everybody.

If you get shot down, move on. Try another time. Try another checkout line. Try another store. Do not try to force your way, or you will ruin it for everybody.

The coupon, and all other coupons, clearly state that they aren't valid on gift cards. The Disney cards clearly say, printed at least trice in the front, that they are "gift cards." Trying to argue that they are called something different by an internal Target system will only show that you're trying to take advantage of something that shouldn't be working to begin with.

If you abuse this loophole, they will notice. The 5% is a pretty nice benefit to begin with. Please don't kill it for everybody.

Nicely said! Please don't ruin it for everyone. It has worked for some but not others. Keep you fingers and toes crossed and only hope that it works.

This isn't exactly about the 20% but it is a question about Target. I have been using my shop kick app to get Target cards. I use the red card debit one to get my 5%. Does anyone know if I use a gift card and my red card can I still get the entire 5% off?
It always gives you the option to put it on more than one card but I want the 5%.

You only get the 5% on whatever is charged on the Red card. If you buy a $100 card and use the 20% off coupon, your charge on the Red card is $80, so you'd get 5% off $80. If you buy a $100 card, take 20% off ($80), use a $10 gift card and charge $70 on the Red card, you get 5% off $70.

Ok this is something new to me. What is a shop kick app?

so I'm just noticing now that you don't' get the 20% coupon until 12:01am Friday morning, so I was planning on being there at 8pm or when ever the store opens or when I get there, didn't want to spend 4 hours there to get the coupon.......wonder if they will be handing out the coupon tomorrow?

I doubt it seeing that it clearly says it's for Friday and not Thursday.

Target doesn't have trouble with sales the first 3 or 4 hours of Black Friday. It's the lull in sales that they are trying to avoid. That's why it is specifically for Friday. To continue to drive sales past that initial rush.

They don't 'hand out' the coupons. They are cash register generated when you meet the conditions ($75 on Black Friday). It's rare that a cash register can be 'forced' to do something by a cashier, like generate a coupon early.

If you have already purchased the gift cards and notice afterward, you can return the gift cards as long as they were ever used or tampered with.

I may be wrong, but I don't think you can return gift cards. I think once they have been activated at the register, during the sale, they cannot be returned.

Its a great app for at least the iPhone that is what I have. You walk into stores like Target and get "kicks" they are points. Then in the store you can scan items for more "kicks" The kicks add up and you can get small things like $5 starbucks gift cards, target cards they list a lot . I was getting starbuck cards but now I was working towards Target cards to get the Disney cards. It is a great app but...it does take some time. I don't have kids so it is easy for me to walk into a store get my kicks walk out or scan items in the stores. Check it out it really is fun to see how fast they add up.

On the coupon it says : $75 purchase must be made in a single transaction in stores on 11/29/13 between 12:01AM CST and store close, or online between 11/29/13 at 2:00AM CST and 11/30/13 at 1:59:59AM CST.

So it is all day Friday.

Trust me I have had to return gift cards at times. I know for sure you can return gift cards at Target. As long as they have not been used, they can be returned as long as you are within the standard return policy. Since they essentially have no value, the returned cards are deactivated and then thrown away.

Is there a limit to how many Disney gift cards you can buy?? If this all works, I would want to buy $1000 worth of cards to pay for my resort.:cool1:

I purchased 20 gift cards at once earlier this year so it should not be a problem. I do not think there is a limit.
