Target 20% off coupon

Not sure why you are doubtful about the 20% working on gift cards. The fine print is similar to the discount fine print for red card. Disney gift cards are not treated like target gift cards.

Because 1) I called Target and they told me (after conferring with a supervisor) that it wouldn't work on entertainment cards and 2) experiences differ from store to store and manager to manager

Bottom line, if register declines you are at mercy of store manager. I am concerned that the sheer number I want to purchase will raise a red flag, and then I can't "back it out" and try again at different store or with smaller quantity since the coupons a1x use.

I know . . . I've used my red card and pharmacy coupon to purchase Disney gift cards on multiple occasions. I really do hope this one works. However, I did attempt to use another discount coupon (can't remember exact coupon - something like $5 of $50 or something of that nature) before to purchase a Dis gift card @ Target. In that case, it did not work. So, I suspect it depends on the particular coupon. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I use my 5% and 5% often, but this is an unusual coupon and I have a lot of hope and potential savings riding on it, so I'm anxious....

In your case, I would do what you originally suggested . . . do 2 BF purchases to get 2 20% coupons. Gives you a little more flexibility. So, IF the 20% doesn't work, could you at least use your phamacy coupon in conjunction with your Red Card to get the 10%? That way, you wouldn't have to "back out" of the transaction.

Yeah that is my plan, but I won't want to buy 5k in GCs with just the 10% because I get those fairly often and I would rather wait until closer to my cruise and also wait to see if they offer that "annual" GC promo in the next couple weeks and combine then. It will suck to have to cancel out the whole order with a line of people waiting...

Do you have a Kroger nearby? They have their 4x fuel promo going on right now. The last time I purchased GC's, I purchased Target GC's @ Kroger for the fuel points (comes out to a 14% savings that way). Then I took the Target gift cards to Target and bought Disney GC's using my pharmacy coupon. You have to plan it out since you don't want to buy more Target GCs than you can use in fuel points. But doing it that way, you can save over 20%. Then if your 20% Target coupon doesn't work, at least you have saved in another way. I know - over the top . . . but it works.

I'm not sure I understand the Kroger cards. YOu get a discount on gas you buy using the points? The problem I see with that is the most I can save is one fill up of gas, which is about $60. Because you only can use it on one purchase, right?

No - if you buy gift cards on Dec 1, those points are available to use until Jan 31. You can use 1,000 fuel points at a time ($1 off gas). You need to know about how many gallons your family uses weekly. For example, I typically fill up about once/week (18ish gallons). I take gas can so that I can get the max they allow (35 gallons). My dh fills his car from the gas cans I bring home.

So, I plan on using 8,000 points roughly in Dec and January (1,000 each weekly fillup). Since they are doing the 4x fuel promo, that means I can purchase approx $2K in gift cards to give me 8,000 points. Here is the math:

$2K gift card = 8,000 points = $1 off 35 gallons x 8 = $280 savings
$280 savings / $2K gc purchase = 14% total savings

The key here is to get the max gallons possible (35) with your $1 off.

Most folks buy Disney gift cards at Kroger to get the fuel savings. But I have started buying Target gift cards that I save up to use when I get a pharmacy coupon. Then I just purchase Disney gift cards @ Target using my pharmacy coupon to bring down the price by 5%. Then I pay with my Target gift cards that I previously saved 14% on. Hope that makes sense.

just want to say we bought 1000 in gc on debt red card and it was declined because of amount we then called target while standing in line and they told the person at regester to give us 5% off using our regular debt card ......went back week later bought the rest we needed for our trip same thing register said no we explained what happened last time she called over manager and she said you don't get 5% on these gc I explained that we do and had no problem last time she then said this is a HUGE problem I am going to call coprate because this is am error in the system so we called target again and they said she was wrong and told us to pay then give them the receipt number(she waited on the phone until we checked out) and then she refunded our 5% so we didn't have to deal with that manager again. so if debt card won't work due to amount just call number on the card they will help you after this experience we took a deep breath and drove to the airport wdw made us feel better.

This is what I have mentioned before about the debit card having a limit. Glad there is a way around it!

Hopefully the manager didn't know what they were talking about...sometimes they are clueless about these types of things!

Okay, thanks for the explanation. :goodvibes I'm glad that works for you, but for various reasons, that doesn't work for me.

We're buying a bunch of Legos to give to underprivileged kids as we do every year anyway, so we will certainly be giving this a shot!

Great idea! We will be buying a bike for Toys for Tots and this would be the best time to do it.

Yeah - I have friends who think I'm nuts! My girlfriend who cruises with us would rather just pay more and not deal with the hassle of gas cans, etc. Its not for everyone.

Lets just hope the 20% coupon works!! Fingers crossed . . .

If you had a balance after using your target gift cards, could you use your red card and receive 5% off the total? If this would work, I was considering buying the target gcs at Kroger and then buying the Disney gcs for the same amount and then something else to have a difference between my target gcs and the balance to have a reason to use my red card in hopes of the discount. My family doesn't have many prescriptions so I never earn the 5% coupon.

No - you would only get the 5% red card discount on the balance left AFTER you used the gift cards. The 5% red card discount works on only things charged to your red card. If you don't have the pharmacy coupon (or the 20% black friday coupon), there would be no reason to buy Target gift cards at Kroger. I would just buy Disney gift cards at Kroger to get your fuel discount. Then if you need more Disney gift cards, buy them at Target using your Red card for the 5%.

Ok...stupid question because we have not cruised before and will not cruise until May 2014. Where are the Disney Gift cards at Target, and what can you use them for on the cruise? I have never seen Disney gift cards at our Target, but I wasn't really looking for them either. Thanks!
