Tangled/Rapunzel dress at DTD?

Our local Disney Store has a sorry selection of dresses- they only carry 4 styles and they were all in XXS!

My DD, age 4, is currently undecided between a Cinderella dress and Tangled dress. She may also end up wanting Belle!!

With this in mind, I was figuring that we would just go shopping for a dress once we arrive in Orlando. Where is the best place to go to shop, and what is the dress selection like in Downtown Disney, either at the World of Disney or the BBB?

The World of Disney store at DTD has a HUGE selection of dresses, some in multiple styles (full length, knee length, short sleeves, with or without elbow gloves... etc.) A perk of purchasing there is immediately after purchasing, you can change your disney daughter and just ask the Bippity Boppity Godmothers to have your girls 'Pixie Dusted'. Its a free service those wonderful fairies-in-training provide.


BBB is located INSIDE World of Disney, right next to the princess dresses. Just to clear things up.

That helps a lot, I keep seeing posts that the Rapunzel dress is hard to find, and with the DVD ending up in her (and probably lots of othger little girls) Easter basket, I would be disappointed if Disney wasn't keeping up with their merchandise demand!

When I was at Wal*Mart the other night, I was surprised to see Disney Princess dresses. Rapunzel, Cinderella, Belle & Tiana were the ones that I saw. This is our issue too! I've gone to several Disney stores, and they only have xxs for Rapunzel - and I need two of them, size 5 and 8! In talking to a cast memeber at the store, she said that they will have a huge selection by August when their Halloween supply starts to come in. So our plan is go to back in August and get what we need - if we can't find it, then we will get it in Disney when we get there. Good luck - its frustrating not being able to get what you need!

Yep, they are at Target and Walmart and such, but I want the more expensive dress that either has a zipper or the "jersey back", the cheaper ones have velcro! I actually looked at Toys R Us too, but I could get a better dress for the same price at the Disney Store! Now only if they had my daughter's size...

I'm making a note of the "last room at Once Upon a Toy" as well, this will be my first time going to Disney in, oh, twenty years so it's an understatement to say LOTS has changed!

DD will be going to the BBB in the MK but I want to get her dressed in the hotel (Pop Century) before we go- one less thing to worry about, you know?

My problem is that we will be arriving at Disney on June 12th- exactly one month from today! So I don't have the option of waiting till Halloween season. And I would really rather not buy off EBay, sometimes you just don't know what you're getting. ...Though I have to give bonus points to the person who wrote a TR and I found out about the carriage pearl cages from EBay! Bought and on their way for our trip!

us too, we are headed June 10th, and need a size 7! I think I am going to bite the bullet on ebay, I hate to, but I hate to disappoint dd more!

Soo I was there on last Tuesday night (May 3rd). They had run out of size Small at The World of Disney Store in DTD. I talked to a manager, she has been having a really hard time keeping them in stock.

They has XXS and XS and even 2 Mediums, and larger sizes, but no Smalls...

They only have one dress style available for Rapunzel and it is top of the line and beautiful.

I went to information and they located the last remaining Small Rapunzel dress in DTD at Once Upon a Toy. They held it for me and I ran over and picked it up.

I do not know how quickly they get new inventory but it might be worth a call from your resort before you go over there.

Small fit my 5 year old dd perfectly.

For those who are not aware, the Official Rapunzel Park dress is not the same as the one they sell in Disney Stores. I *think* someone mentioned on another thread that at DTD they sell the Official Park dress.

I believe all princess dresses are "special" aka different from the parks. They are not your regular ones that you get at the Disney Store at your local mall. For me, thats one reason to get it at Disney - Just to have something extra special for them..... But what happens if you get there, and they don't have the size you need.... Decisions decisions!!!!

yep that's the problem, what if they don't have it. ugh, I bit the ebay bullet. I guess if they *do* have a *special* one in her size when we get there, I can always turn around and re-sell the other one, right?

That's because Once Upon a Toy is awesome! No, I'm not biased...

Sometimes the shipments of inventory are really wacky and the stock of princess dresses is always running low on certain sizes. Princess dresses are quick sellers in WDW. Definitely call from your resort to see if it's in stock before you go anywhere.

They just released the new design for the tangled dress to Disney stores earlier this week and mist stores should have gotten a shipment in. The new dress is really similar to the old, the sleeves are a little simplified but the bodice a little more detailed so it evens out. And it's $5 cheaper! So if you haven't checked your local store in the last few days it would be worth it to give them a call and see if they have the new dress.

So I called my Disney Store- and sure enough, they have the Rapunzel dress in stock in my daughter's size!! They are holding it till I get off of work and my DH can meet me there to make sure it fits DD.

And I'll just leave the tags on it- if we find one at the park that we like better then I'll return this one! I would hate to get to Disney to find that there were no Smalls in stock...boy did you luck out with that one!

Interestingly enough, our local Disney Store is closing in two weeks (stupid mall is not renewing their lease). I got my daughter a Tangled dress today off the clearance rack (I guess technically, they were all clearance racks now).

If the Disney Store website for the Park Authentic merchandise is a clue, probably about $60 and up. I'm not sure if the quality will be any different, but it looks like the dresses vary in style a bit. There's a very good Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique thread that has tones of pictures of the current costumes but I'm not sure it includes prices or not.

And you totally lucked out with the clearance rack costume dress!!

If your daughter is four you can probably get her a bigger size. My daughter is 2 and I recently bought her xs from the Disney Store. They are a little big but that gives her longer wear. She has 2 xxs from Disney World and they fit her just perfect but I doubt she will be able to wear them next year.
