Family is not too adventurous, but hubby likes Gyros. From the pictures I've seen the Lamb Shawarma Platter looks like Gyro meat. Is it similar?

Thanks!

If what you (US) call Gyro is what we (UK) call Doner kebab, then yes.

In appearance, yes. But in taste, not really. The lamb shawarma at Tangierine has more cumin (and I think some yoghurt marinade) in it so it changes the flavour of the lamb & makes it sweeter. I love lamb & thought it would be my favourite entree there but actually I much preferred the taste of the chicken. A good compromise might be their combo plate with both lamb & chicken. I wouldn't pass on Tangierine as its easily one of the best CS in Epcot. But maybe make sure to get some of the chicken as the flavour of the lamb is a bit of a surprise (not terrible, just very different) than most North American expectations.

I would say it is basically like a gyro - so if he likes gyros he may well like the swarma platter. I lived 9 years in the Middle East (Turkey and Jordan) and yes, sadly Tangierine Cafe isn't "home" but it is a place I usually eat when I am at Epcot time and time again. I do really like the combo platter too - it is almost always what I order. The hummus is pretty decent and it is a lot of food - enough to share definitely.

Might not be exactly the same, but definitely pretty close. I have gotten the lamb wrap and would not have distinguished between it and a gyro. If husband likes one, he will like the other. My family is also not particularly adventurous -- and I am the polar opposite, willing to eat pretty much anything -- but even they enjoyed a bite of the shawarma (at least before I told them it was lamb).

Was also going to say that my son got the lamb or chicken wrap and it was very much like a gyro. Husband got the lamb and chicken platter and wished he had just gotten the lamb, as the chicken was only so-so. We really, really liked our meal there. Nothing fancy, but it the food was excellent.

Thanks everyone I think I'll order him the chicken lamb combo. Kiddos will get chicken nuggets :(
