Proof for Early Entry

Last March, we had a day or 2 where we had difficulty proving that we were staying at Disneyland Villas and eligible for early entry. Most days, the digital key in the app was good enough. We didn’t have physical keys. However, sometimes, they wanted proof of our dates. I would show them the reservation dates in the app, but they wanted more. They never could fully explain what more proof they wanted, so finally let us through. I think they wanted a physical key, but we didn’t have those. Anyone have issues lately with just the digital key in the app? Thanks

I don't but hope they have figured it out by now! When we stay DVC at the Grand we are given physical keys, at least as recently as this past January.

The Disneyland Villas won’t issue physical keys?

We did online checkin and didn’t bother getting physical keys. We just used our phones. They never specifically said that we needed physical keys to do early entry, and it worked several times with just our digital key. I’m just wondering if physical keys would solve the problem. I detest waiting in the huge lines to check in at DLH. I have never seen a Disney hotel with such a long line. We have had to wait at least 30 minutes on a few occasions.

Ouch. Fwiw you can get physical keys at any point during your stay so if you can hit the desk during off hours maybe that will help with the crazy line.

I’m curious, even if you had a physical key, they no longer print the dates of stay on the keys right? So how does that work if you show your physical key? Do they scan it and somehow know your dates of stay?

That’s part of my question. They did have a piece of wood with a card/magic band reader like you see at the WDW hotels. It was so weird to see this plastic thing with Mickey on it attached to a piece of wood. It would be hilarious if they just carried around a hotel room door🤣 I think this is what people with physical keys used, but I wasn’t paying too much attention to others.

EDIT: not sure why they couldn’t just read the digital key from the phone. They didn’t though. They just looked at it.

Wow. That is so random!! A piece of wood. Lol. I haven’t done EE at the DLR in years. Last time we stayed at the DLH I noticed they no longer printed the date on the keys. That’s why I asked. I find it crazy that you spend so much money to stay at a DLR hotel and they don’t have an easy and consistent way to show you’re eligible for EE.

I know at WDW we just scanned our MB+.

Since the MB+ don’t work for room entry at DLR, they can’t use it for EE. Would be way easier.

For EE at MK they scanned our physical keys at the top of Main Street before we could go further into Tomorrowland.

We used EE four days out of five on our visit two weeks ago. We just used the DL app and never had a problem with it. The hotel reservation is linked to the app, and EE is also linked.

How is EE linked in the app? We are staying at GCH and have reservations at the parks but I don't see any note about early entry on our park reservations

Maybe I’ll have to duck it up and wait in line for physical keys Sunday night after the expo🙁

We used the app too? But for some reason, that wasn’t always enough. Never really determined what would be enough either.

Your digital room key in the app and your hotel reservation info in the app indicate where you are stay and what dates.

We never bother to get physical keys. All they want to see for EE is your hotel reservation info. In the app under the three lines tab, click on “hotel reservations” and then “view details.” That will show your dates and each guest on the reservation.

Our issue was the digital key never could open our door to our room, so we got the room keys because we needed them and that made everything smoother honestly.

That’s what we did, but they occasionally seemed to want more🤷‍♀️ Maybe it was just a fluke or poor training.

That is super strange! I’d definitely say poor training! You never know what you’re going to encounter with each cm 🤦🏼‍♀️

This morning at DCA they were asking to scan room keys or to show your reservation in the app.

On Sunday, they were checking apps and were also able to scan key card. Even though I do online check in, I always get a key card because my phone takes too long to open the door.

I showed them my App, thinking it would be the easiest, but they started clicking through and I offered my key card and they said it was way easier to scan the key card.
