I have been researching this lens for a while now, & asked a few questions about it. Seems I get my mind set, but never the right time to buy. So I keep coming back! lol Now that I have money in hand, I thought I'd get a few more opinions before I make the purchase. I have a Nikon D-7000, & an 18-105mm lens. I am not looking to replace my 18-105, because I really like it. But I am looking for a little more reach than my 18-105mm can give me. I don't mind switching lenses for the right occasion, & thought this would come in handy for the long shots. For instance going to our local zoo, I always come home with great pictures. But often wish I had a lens that could get me a little closer. What do you think? Should I go for it? Anyone own the Tamron 70-300 care to comment? As always thank you all!

I owned the Tamron 70-300 VC for Canon, and used it with the Canon T3i (that I sold).

It´s a little more heavy the canon 70-300 IS.

The VC works very nice and I´ve got good photos at 1/90 at 300mm (480mm cropped).

The AF is very fast and nails it every time.

The VC is better than the Nikon 70-300 VR II (that i own now).

It´s an amazing lens. You i´ll not be sorry for buying it.

Thanks! I am pretty set on this purchase, just needed a little reassurance from someone who has one already. Plus it always seems there is something that takes priority over me purchasing a new lens. But this time, I am able to spend the money, so I just want to be positive it's the one I really want. After all I've read so far, & the good recommendations, I think it will be just what I'm looking for.

These are some examples of photos taken on the Disney Safari last year.

I published on amazon since i can´t use flicker on my work.

I really think it´s much better than my nikon 70-300 VR.

I´ll try to publish some photos at night, taken with the nikon 70-300 on the same Safari i took last week.

Yep, exactly the confirmation I needed! Thanks so much for sharing your photos. It really helps seal the deal! Just what I needed. :thumbsup2
