I really don't understand why people purposely try to make trouble.

I was playing a pirates game a little bit ago, four against four. Apparently, someone on my team was talking and I shot down an opponent. That person (the opponent) said something like "oh great, I was shot down because someone keeps talking" then proceeded to do the exact same thing (only much more so) so that no one was able to actually see what was going on at the top of the screen. They kept entering message after message after message on and on so that the screen was nothing but a bunch of nonsense talk. How irritating! In between rounds, I did state that I wasn't the one doing the talking, but then they began what they called a "message attack". All I could see were red bubbles of babble and ultimately, lost the game. Is it just me, or was this not rude?:confused3

Yeah, I find that kind of rude... plus talking in pirates makes me lag so I don't usually say a word... sometimes when I want to say 'gg' I can't because I'm lagging so much!~

today in a game, someone said "get him" and im like her so i did the @_@. he said im reporting u and continued sayin that throughout the game and when we lost, he said ha ha i tricked u so u would lose and i didnt get it cause we were losing either way @_@ :confused3
its really annoying

Hopefully one day they'll give you an option of turning off chat in games. It's sad that it would come to that, but the level of abuse is getting annoying.

It's becoming somewhat of a problem lately. Usually I just take the game to the bottom of the screen and I don't read or type anything. I just focus on the game.

I agree. The chat wouldn't be quite as bad if people wern't as rude as they are when they use it. Thats why I'm glad fireworks doesn't have that option lol...how would that even work? I think that they should at least give you an ignore chat option if you don't want to join in on the worthless banter.

That is the best option, take the game to the bottom of the screen, plus remenber who the "talking" players are and do not play with them again.

It is one of the reasons that I have stayed away from Pirates lately. The dialogue/chat/taunting are too much for me to handle.

That and the fact that the water is so cold when I invariably get sunk. :rotfl2:

there isn't talking in other games so why have it in pirates? People just abuse it usually.

oh i know what you guys are saying. I've repeatedly asked people to stop talking and I have had team members say childish things such as "make me." Well considering I cannot see the screen because of all the typing and I'm usually the remaining player for our team, the incentive to win should be enough to "make" them be quiet. Plus, like many of you, I get incredible lag when people keep typing. Does anyone have any suggestions for how else to ask people to be quiet? I always try to be very polite and quickly explain it causes lag, but I somehow always run into those childish people who start typing more just to cause me to crash or who begin taunting me. When I get incredibly frustrated, I will resort to "plz shut up", but only as a last resort. So, until they make it so you can turn off chat in pirates, has anyone found a successful way of dealing with these people?

I agree. I think the option to turn chat on or off would be great.

If a player becomes nasty during a pirates game, first I say, "Please play nice. It's a game."

If they continue,I take a simple screen shot, make every effort possible to beat them, and when the game is over, report them. (I have their title and words they said from my screen shot.)

I also include in my report, "This mean way has no place in a kids game. We cannot ignore their words as this is not possible in Pirates."

I do the same thing with the whole "please be nice" idea. Even if it's my own teammate, I ask them to play fair and not insult the other team or our team. If I could figure out how to take screen shots, I would definitely use your idea.

this happened tonight: not only did the other team add ai and automatically start without giving me a chance to react to said addition of ai (i usually leave b/c it goofs up my comp), but then the one girl proceeded to talk the whole time. And here's the kicker. I politely asked her to stop. Her response: "dont tell me what to do" and she proceed to type in "go miss (her teammate)" over and over until the screen was full. Am I alone in thinking you should be able to report said behavior? I paid credits to play, and was cheated out of them. GRRR! Just had to vent

In that situation - I quit the game. Yes, I lose 21 credits, but I dont have to deal with whatever it may be for another minute. And if it my own teammate that is causing the trouble, well, sad for them that they now have to play 1 pirate down.

Some things are worth losing 21 credits.

It’s very petty and baby-ish behavior
