OK, I have a question and HOPE someone here knows.
I was visiting with my in-laws last night talking about the exciting things we have planned for our trip this December.

She started telling me about when she went to Disney World and ate at a really nice French Restaurant (in Epcot) where the waiter came by with the silver dome platter and when he opened it a little mouse was on it that talked???

I never heard of this!! Is this for real and if so, where is this at??
I just keep thinking that would be so cute for the kids to see.

His name is Remy. And he's not there all the time - just at selected times.

Yes, Remy is cute and his "talking" is more like squeaking. I hope you get to see him. Have a wonderful first trip and if you don't already have one you might want to pick up a good WDW guidebook so you can enjoy some of these little entertainment treats that occur in all of the parks.

Thanks everyone! So he's not there all the time?
Is it more a dinner thing or lunch?

I've done sooo much research for this trip that I was shocked this one got past me. I did buy the Birnbaums book for both adult and kids, wonder if it's in there and I just didn't get to it yet? :)

Is this worth eating there for? What's your thoughts on this whole place.
I'm going to do a restaurant review search in a moment. But would love to hear what you thought of Remy.
I figured it was him but my mother in law confused me when she said a top hat. :rotfl: Guess it's not her job to know the characters.

you'll likely find more than 1 that got by you...that's part of the magic of a disney vacation! :)

Remy is really cute! We really enjoy Chefs de France for lunch but not so much for dinner. He is there at set times most days (I think Sunday is his day off!). I think it is definitely worth eating there, but again for lunch. The atmosphere is nice (although the tables are close together). Not very 'french' but I had the best burger ever this past trip. (My review is in the link below).

Enjoy your first trip! There will be many magical moments, I am sure!

Remy has been at chefs de france for a while. Im surpised you never heard of it.

The times are approx 12:30, 1:40, 2:50 with 5:20pm being the last appearance of the night.

Remy doesn't talk, at least not in human language. He speaks "rat." His handler will translate for him though.

Our table was Remy's first stop at 5:20 when we ate at Chef's this past May. My mom kept calling him a mouse and Remy kept trying to correct her. The kids thought this was hilarious.

We just saw him last week (lunchtime). Here's a pic:

We loved Remy's visit to our table. My 13 year old doesnt get excited about Character interaction anymore ( she's way too cool:cool2: ) but she loved Remy's. He doesn't talk, but his facial expressions are cute.

Remy is one of those little touches in Disney World that's actually more fun when you have no idea it's coming. My mom and I went in to Chefs de France for lunch on a whim and Remy happened to be wandering the tables. He sang "Happy Birthday" to me. :lovestruc

I enjoy the food at Chefs also, and would recommend it.
The lobster bisque is very good, I could eat 2 bowls of that.
When I was there in August, Remy stopped by a table who apparently didn't know about him. A couple of the women screamed, like they thought he was a real rat on the tray with the cheese, grapes and bread. The boy jumped up and ran around the table up to him (Remy), and the handler had to quickly step in between the boy and Remy, not knowing what he was going to do. I wondered if the boy meant to try to smash it or chase it away, or what.
They all calmed down when they realized it was amniotronic and Disney magic. But the handler had to really handle the situation for a bit there.

LOL ..+that boy could easily been me a few years ago....if I didn't know about Remy!

Here's a nice YouTube video of Remy performing at Les Chefs de France.

According to SteveSoares, here is Remy's schedule: Monday-Saturday at 12:30, 1:40, 2:50 & 5:20pm

We had a really nice lunch at Les Chefs. I would recommend it.

We would love to see Remy, but have 7pm adr. I wonder why Disney doesn't consider having him "pop in" for later dinners. I think they should reconsider!!!

We were there this Tuesday and he came to our table. We had eaten at Chefs de France before, but this was the first time we saw him.

We are not a fan of character meals at all. My kdis are not into them, never really have been (even on their first trip when they were 2 1/2 and 5) but we took my daughter here in January at her request (my son didnt want to go he was with some friends at Biergarten) and it was really cute. Its the only character meal she's ever expressed any interest in going to. She was 8 at the time. I was glad that we went and would recommend it. Although I did have the feeling of practically sittin on our neighbors lap, the tables are really close together.
