For the last couple weeks I've been having some nagging pain behind my ankle. I have since developed some bumps on it just above the heel. It hurts going up and down stairs and in the morning it's especially painful.

I went to the Dr on Thursday and she's sending me to an Ortho. I have that appointment on Tuesday.

Problem is, it's getting worse. Now it hurts when I have my foot down and if I'm on it for any period of time it really hurts. I'm kinda nervous that I may be close to rupturing it so I'm trying to be careful.

The pain this afternoon actually almost brought me to tears it ached so bad.

Oh and when I do put it down the back on my calf, about halfway down into the ankle has this cold, numb, tingling feeling.

My Dr didn't give me any advice on what to do, only what she thinks they may do. Should I brace it or stay off it in the meantime? I really don't want to go to urgent care because they'll just send me to an Ortho. ;)

I would try ice. I don't think you can do any harm with that

I second the "ice" approach until you get a diagnosis.

I had a similar problem a month several months back. Now...I'm older than dirt, never had problems with my feet and tend to wear really flat shoes for work and Crocs in my off time. Felt fine with the Crocs. On the suggestion from a friend, I tried some OTC shoe inserts before I hit the doctor. Worked like a charm.

NOT saying this will solve your problems, but may provide some relief until you get professional help.
