Just came off the June 14th Mediterranean Cruise - where I had a fantastic time - my first DCL cruise!!!

Only regret I have is that there is not enough ship time. I had to get off at every port - who knows if I'd ever get to see these places again (which were beautiful by the way)! Also - it was very hectic & not enough relaxation time...... that said - I still loved it!

But I'm thinking my next cruise should have some more time to spend just "chilling" - waking up when I feel like it - attending more cruise activities....... enjoying a slower pace......

I'm thinking I'd be in heaven. But folks around me say - too many days at sea, could make one a little stir crazy.

Thoughts?

I LOVE sea days!!!
We are going our first TA cruise in Sept. looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the ship.
We did the PC cruise this past Feb. Lots of sea days with so many activities to choose from, you can do as much or as little as you want, its great.
We did the 10 night Hawaii cruise in 2015, it was 5 days of ports and 5 sea days as we headed back to Vancouver.
I have become spoiled only wanting these long sea day filled trips now.

Do it, and have fun!

GO and read so old navigators on the Disneycruiselineblog.com website and see for yourself all you can do.

I just went on this may’s EBTA cruise, and it was wonderful! I wouldn’t hesitate to go on another one. There are so many activities on the sea days, my family still didn't get to do everything we wanted to do.

I did a little mini-review here in this forum, so if you look at my prior posts, you can find my thoughts there. I’m happy to answer any specific questions you have too.

Our transatlantic is what got us hooked on longer cruises. Since then we've done 3 Panama Canals - better timings for us and airfare is somewhat easier for us. Our transatlantic had 6 sea days in row! It was great. Never bored. Time still flies.

We did our first B2B cruise as a 10 night Med/14 night WBTA cruise. Just the perfect blend. First 10 days, 8 port stops, go, go, go. Next 14 days, 5port stops, lots of sea days to rest up.

Just remember - it's a vacation. It's OK to just sit and watch the sea go by. That said, there was plenty to do onboard, if you want to.

I'm still in the middle of my trip report, but I can't say enough good things about the TA cruise we did (EBTA May 2019). It was a 13 night cruise with a total of 7 sea days and 5 ports. (I guess it's really like 7.5 sea days since the first day after sailaway is all sailing)

There was a ton of chilling and relaxing time, which I desperately needed. A ton of activities to do if you wanted to, and a lot of sitting around watching movies if you preferred that. It is a stretch of sea days in a row though, we sailed away on a Sunday and didn't arrive in our first port until the next Sunday. I didn't feel stir crazy at all though - I had a blast!

We just got off the EBTA and it was AMAZING! You can choose to do as much or as little as you want. My husband is very adhd about his free time and always feels like he has to be doing SOMETHING. At about Day 3 he was maxin and relaxin and really enjoyed the sea days. You also go to some pretty cool places you would never think to visit. The sea was as smooth as glass. It’s my favorite DCL cruise to date!

I have never been lucky enough to have more than a couple of sea days in a row, but would love more. One day when I’m retired.

As for the “stir crazy” naysayers, I truly think that a lot of people have forgotten how to just be - they feel like they always have to be doing something.

I’ve been dreaming of a TA cruise. I think it sounds amazing. From your op with what you liked and didn’t like about the one you just finished, I’d say go for it!

We have done a few TA’s and they are absolutely best! One we did B2B with the Med and it is such a change of pace.

Our last cruise was the Eastern Caribbean, which had 3 sea days. That was the first cruise we've been on that had that many sea days. We loved it! It made us want more. So, we booked the WBTA for September 2019 that has 5 sea days. I can't wait! There is always so much to do on the ship (or not do--if you want) that I find the sea days disappear before you know it. I already know 5 sea days probably won't be enough, but I'm already pushing it in taking days off of work.

So I am not the type of person who can just sit and do nothing all day. My brain is always active (drives everyone I know mad) but I LOVE a transatlantic cruise. This year will be my first year without one so its going to be a bit strange (doing a 4 night instead) but hopefully next year I'll be back to the TA. Its a great experience and there is so much going on onboard that I just love it! It has a completely different feel to shorter cruises or more port intensive cruises. One of the best things I've ever done and will ever do.

We're booked on the TA next May. I'm looking forward to a totally relaxing trip and a tour of Barcelona at the end.

We enjoy the TAs. We are doing our first WBTA this September. We’ve done two the other way!

We have done three TA cruises and two Panama Canal cruises among our various DCL cruises, all since 2015. These longer cruises are the best combination of sea days and port visits. Our most recent EBTA (May 2018) was the best: a series of sea days between Miami and Ponta Delgada, than another sea day before Lisbon followed by a series of stops around the Iberian peninsula. We finished up with 4 nights in Barcelona before flying home. We also enjoyed the WBPC cruise this year: Port Canaveral to Castaway Cay, sea days and western Caribbean port stops, canal transit, port days and Baja California stops, and end up in San Diego. We added four nights at Disneyland.

I haven't done a transatlantic (on my list though) but we are booked on the 14 night Panama Canal cruise next spring and I am very much looking forward to all the sea days.

You’re all the way over in Europe. Don’t waste the travel time. Take a back to back cruise on dcl or another cruise line that week and do Italy. That’s what we did. It was so much fun!
