Talk to me about Rainforest Cafe!!

We have only been to the one in AK. Would highly recommend it. Food is real good. Service was good. Yes, it was packed, but we expected it to be since we were there the week of Easter. Had to wait a bit but not real long.

It's all about the atmosphere. The food is OK, the prices a bit high, but not out of line for a Disney resort restaurant.

Yes, it can be a real "zoo" inside :lmao: , but there are less busy times as well. Avoid the main meal times (11:30 - 1:30 and 6:00 - 8:00) and you're more likely to have a quieter meal with shorter waits for your food.

My family and I always go to the Rainforest Cafe at DTD and everytime it has been a positive experience. So there are always going to be some guests that thought it was a good and some who did not like it.

Totally agree! I too got gift card for the restaurant DTD but we're actually doing a lunch this year. It is really more atmosphere than "great" food, but I think the food was GOOD!! No issues except wait at dinner was a bit long, eat earlier or later to avoid that.
By the way I had NO IDEA you could even MAKE reservations at all. I am going to try and call them about that.

***ADDED*** I just called Rainforest Cafe in DTD and was told they do NOT take reservations, BUT they take what they call PRIORITY seating, meaning you check in at podium (she gave us a number) and they guarantee you 1/2 the wait time, sounds good to me, got our seating, ONCE AGAIN THANKS to this thread!! how far in advance, can you book this?
thanks tracy

Thank you so much for all of the opinions guys.

We have this booked on our Studios day (which is emh night). We have an adr for 6:30 and were hoping to get over there and eat and get back to the Studios for a little of the emh time. That is my big issue with the long wait.. not so sure we would make it back in time. hmm...

We've eaten at both the one at DTD and AK. We love both. We've done lunch and dinner. My dd loves the atmosphere, and yes, certain areas can be loud, it is a rainforest afterall. The food is good (at least for us) and we've always had good service. They also have a really cool gift shop. I'm kind of sad because we won't be eating there this year. We're doing the Deluxe dining plan and just don't have time scheduled for the RFC.

I personally really like Rainforest Cafe!

Yes, it always has a long wait. But the inside is so cool! There are audio animatronic animals, as well as a HUGE fish tank. It "thunderstorms" inside every once in a while.

I think the food is pretty good. I love the pizza. yummy

All of the times I have been there (which have been likie 5-10) have been great! You might as well try it for yourself and make your own opinion of it.

We love Rainforest Cafe. ::yes:: It's terribly LOUD though! The fish tanks are fun to watch, too.

My family has always enjoyed the RC in DTD. We stick to burgers, walk around and look at the animals and later go to Ghiradelli's for sundaes.

We really go to RFC in DTD for our boys. To me the food is just OK. The service on the many times we have gone is OK at best. For me the best part is the store where they have live dart frogs, fish tanks, black lights, and cheap t-shirts and little presents to take home for very litte money (in comparison to Disney). Our boys love eating there for the whole atmosphere and could really care less what they are served to eat :lmao:

Go you will have fun. We have eaten at both the DTD and Animal Kingdom locations and never had a problem. Get the volcano cake!

We ate at the AK Rainforest just last week. We thought the food was quite good. If you order a drink in their special glass (my son-in-law did) you get 1/2 price refills. Also, if you have an Annual Pass, you get 10% off the cost.

When you say this, do you mean they don't usually refill your drink for free at your meal?? You have to pay for each drink refill?..or do you mean that they refill that one after leaving if you come back and want a refill?? :confused3

I hope it is the latter..haha I hate places that charge for drink refills during a meal! :scared1: (yes, we drink a lot)

I'm assuming the poster was talking about a specialty drink or smoothie; the sodas, tea, etc. have always come with free refills every time we've been there.

We have eaten @ both RFC. The one @ AK was'nt to bad. Both times we have eaten @ the DTD one it was bad. The wait was terrible even w/ADRS,the service was awful, I thought we might have to serve ourselves before it was all over. The food was average at best and not worth the $90 bill we received for 2 adults and 2 kids. I was totally dissapointed with the experience. We will be eating @ The Earl of Sandwich this trip, great sandwiches & tons cheaper. Good Luck!!!!!

We have eaten at both and I think that the one at AK is better than at DTD. I am really trying to talk my kids out of going there this trip, but I don't think it's going to happen. I really don't like the menu, but they put up with every other place I take them to eat so I guess I can bend on RFC.

For those of you who belong to the Safari Club and have eaten here, what are the typical waits ?
I am a safari club member, and in AK I was seated immediatly, but I am wondering about DTD and I am planning to eat there the first night, if I can't get an earlier flight...

I LOVE the pastalaya !! It is the best dish they have if you like jambalaya this dish is for you

We ate at Rainforest in AK last November. The food was pretty good - the chop salad was fantastic, but way too big for one person. Although we all enjoyed the food and looking at all the animals, the service and our table location left a lot to be desired. I think I would go there again, especially for that salad, but I wouldn't go expecting Disney-level service. It was probably our least favorite meal out of all that we had, but at the same time, it wasn't bad. I think young kids will love the atmosphere though.

If you have (slightly older) kids, and don't have one in your hometown, I think it's worth a stop. The atmosphere is what it's all about.
