Talk to me about motel noise

There’s a cheap/free solution to this. Download a white noise app to your phone. Then go to sleep to your favorite white noise. We do this all the time. It’s very effective.

I wish this worked for me. White noise gives me anxiety. I've even tried brown noise, pink noise, etc...all the colors. It all sounds like annoying static to me, I need SILENCE.

Same. I’m not looking for solutions, I’m looking for quiet. Lol

I've been wearing Leight Sleepers earplugs for over 20 years. I have successfully raised 2 kids to ages 15 and 17 so far, and have always heard what needed to be heard at night. I cannot fall asleep unless there is dead silence. Earplugs help to primarily block low frequency sounds, but they still allow you to hear sudden loud noises or high frequency sounds, as well as someone talking to you. I have photos of me holding my newborn baby, asleep on my glider with earplugs in. I have always woken up when my babies cried and when they got older, walked into my bedroom saying "mommy." I've never slept through an alarm. I hear all that stuff.

The earplugs drown out the sound of our fan so I can actually get to sleep. Yes, I'm such a light sleeper that even white noise keeps me awake.
When DS was a baby, I heard him while sleeping with earplugs when DH didn’t hear him without them 🙄.

So what is the absolute closest hotel offsite with interior hallways? And, how close is close?

Just got back from BWPPI, we were in room 201, which means right next to the road. It was LOUD. We haven't lived in CA for 20 years so forgot about all the motorcycles and street racing cars with modded "mufflers." But my husband and I BOTH put on our white noise app and slept fine. It was still loud but we were pretty exhausted.

Another question…is the walk safe even at night?
Absolutely. I’ve never felt unsafe. The homeless are usually asleep. Walking as a single woman I’d only be comfortable at BWPPI or parkvue at night though. With 2 any in the area will work.

we paid $450 a night to stay at Disneyland Hotel and it was just as loud as any other hotel I've stayed at. I just turn on the fan in the room and I've never had an issue.

It's been a few years, but I do remember sleeping well at Hyatt House and it being generally quiet. It was about a 12 minute walk for us.

We found the BWPPI way too loud for our kids. Great motel except for the noise. My daughter has sensory processing disorder so noise really matters for us.

We were ok with the Howard Johnson. A bit of highway noise, but it was a constant background hum so was manageable.

The best for us are any of the three on-site hotels, unsurprisingly. Paradise Pier was fine for noise, but we won’t stay there while the surf side lounge is closed.

For DLH or GCH we avoid the Downtown Disney view rooms as they are the noisiest at night.

I never travel without my white noise machine and ear plugs! And often add a second point of white noise by running an app on my phone (to cut out some in-room noise with two occasional snorers in the family).

No experience staying at any of the Harbor hotels. We had mostly quiet night at our recent GCH stay, which crazily was cheaper than some of the prices I'm seeing here (must be a time of year thing). But taking notes as I'm sure our next trip will be stay somewhere on Harbor or nearby and I'm a super light sleeper as well.

What kind of rate did you get for GCH?? It's always insanely overpriced when I've checked.

As for quiet....I'd say...good luck! Ha! We have stayed at the Desert Inn our last 3 trips. Top floor, towards the back. We get a parlor suite so there's a little "living room" first when you walk in, then another door before the bedroom. With that door shut at, it helps block corridor noise like the clattering housekeeping cart. The worst noise we've had was actually from the hotel a few doors down...they have a roof top bar and their music was thumping and driving me insane. Not every night, thankfully. We also use a white noise machine which seems to help with most other noises.

Years ago, we stayed at what was called the Anaheim Plaza at the time (The Anaheim Hotel now) and it was WAY louder than the Desert Inn. Would never stay there again because of the noise and other issues, even though it's been renovated.

Between 2 and 3 is the Holiday Inn Express (it's next door to the Home2/Hilton Garden Inn but slightly closer as you have to walk past it to get to the Hilton properties). We have stayed there and were happy with it. Room was quieter than the Hojo for us.

We booked the Visa Cardmember 30% discount from Jan 25-29 (so week nights). The nightly price averaged to $399 (Woods/Courtyard view), with some of the nights being as low as $380 (taxes not included). I haven't been able to find any other weeks for March or April where the discount was as low.

One tricky thing with that discount was when searching the first page would show a higher price for the standard room for all 3 hotels, but when I clicked into see individual rooms, the "premium" views would be less as the discount only applied to upgraded views not standard.

I’m a light sleeper so I’m second guessing staying at the BW Park Place Inn. I imagine all the motel style places are going to be noisy. I’m starting to think I might want to book an actual hotel and walking a bit further isn’t a big deal.

So what do you think about the noise at BWPPI? What hotels in the area would you suggest if we truly wanted quiet?

we had a very quiet stay at the Camelot inn. I would ask for the top floor. We were located in the middle of the hotel and didn’t hear any road noise. We also had an amazingly quiet stay at hotel 414. It’s pretty far of a walk, and near the freeway so we were expecting a loud stay and were pleasantly surprised. We did have the AC on all night because it was super hot when we stayed, but it was a not a loud one and provided a wonderful white noise in the room.

we recently stayed at BWPPI towards the front of the property and could not believe how loud it was.A lot of cars in SoCal have really loud exhaust and it sounded like cars taking off at races since the stop light was right there. We loved the room, just not the noise.

We also just stayed at Radisson Blu and it was so quiet! We loved it. Although I would not consider that walking distance.

have fun trip planning!

Noise generally doesn’t bother me too much. The only hotel I had a problem on Harbor was the grand legacy at the park motel. They have this bar nightclub on the top floor which is noisy until late. I’ve been at park vue, Tropicana and a couple others, and the noise didn’t bother me, but it is noticeable for sure.
