We leave in 5 days! :cool1:

I am so excited, yet petrified about germs. My daughter went to a small birthday party yesterday and that may be her last outing until we leave on Friday. My son usually goes to recreation camp for three hours a day and I'm debating whether or not to send him this week. Please tell me I'm crazy! We've been washing our hands constantly and taking our vitamins, and I'm just SO praying no one gets sick. Any words of wisdom? Any way to talk me down? Thank you!

I would recommend just maybe focusing on foods that help/boost your immune system? Get them some antibacterial gels to use when necessary and keep them eating well, they'll be fine! (I'm assuming your kids are healthy and have no pre-existing conditions)

Yes, they are healthy-no pre-existing conditions or anything that would compromise their immune system.

We leave in 2 days and 5 days ago our 5 yo DD had a 101 fever and an ear infection. She is absolutely fine now so anything can happen.

I wouldn't worry too much
Now, during flu season, that's a different story!
But then we usually catch it at Disney.
I don't think it's a bad idea to lay low and chill until your trip if you are concerned!

We just usually start drinking Emergen-C's drinks and making sure we are all taking plenty of vitamins prior to our trips. We've never been sick at WDW. This year we go in Dec which is prime-time for us to be sick so I'm a little more concerned about that time of year.

Yeah, germs are everywhere. Take Airborne...

Save your money on that Airborne snake oil. The company was fined by the FDA for making false claims.

The OP is already doing all that they need to do, making sure they get their vitamins and washing their hands regularly.

I hear ya!!! We leave on Thursday.... we are :drive: down and arriving on Friday. I always get stressed pre-trip about stuff like this.

Let's hope for the best!!!

It's really ok! I know I'm nuts!! But I'm trying to do the right thing. The last time we went my husband and son and I were sick but that was five years ago and colds were caught a lot easier back then. You guys are great-and it's fine to call me crazy! I can admit I am!!

We dont leave for 37 days and I just bought a BIG bottle of Vitamin C... time for everyone to start taking it :rotfl::rotfl:

And along with frequent hand washing/hand sanitizer, make sure everyone gets adequate sleep.

Thanks Pooh Bear-I've been doing that too. I make sure my kids have time every day for rest/down time. My son doesn't nap as much as my daughter is outgrowing it, but I still want them to have quiet time!

We went early September last year, and came back with the flu. Sometimes you just can't help it no matter how many times you use sanitizer or wash your hands.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that worries about these things. We are going in November and I already told my boss that if anyone comes in sick the week before I leave I'm working from home. I've started taking a Probiotic to help with digestion and boost my immune system. I'm trying to convince DH it would be good for him too. My doctor swears by them.

Our daughter is in the medical field (emergency room PA) and her formula is to just wash hands and use hand sanitizer. As for me, I really don't worry about it since I work in an elementary school and with all that goes on there I think I have built up a good immune system since (knock on wood) I haven't been sick in years. The only thing I do do is wipe down all the bathroom sinks, toilets, door knobs, phones and remotes with Clorox wipes so I know everything is clean - and do the bedbug check!!

I worry about mine getting hurt enough to have to have a wheelchair or scooter to get around...not colds. We can endure that.

My BF is taking her four boys with us on our trip in Sept. Over the summer, one has had a broken hand and the second boy flipped an ATV and stripped all the ligaments in his foot. He gets off of his crutches next week and will be in a boot till Sept 1. We leave Sept 16. My hope is that we don't have to push him around.

Keeping DD in a rubber room till we leave. (kidding) :lmao::lmao:

Think good thoughts and keep positive about the medical stuff. Kids are resilient and they will be healthy and fine. OP it is perfectly normal to worry about kids being sick and miserable on a WDW vacation.

Now if you were OCD about germs at the park, that would be another thing...the parks are GERMAPALOOZA. :crowded:

When my kids were young and caught a lot of sickness, I always took them out of pre-school/early elementary school 2 to 3 days before our planned Disney trips. I didn't want them coming down with something a day or the day of a vacation we spent thousands of dollars on. I see not problem with it, as a matter of fact, I think it is smart.

Our last visit was at the end of March. Two or three days before the end of our trip, DS(3), started puking uncontrollably. The poor kid was even dry heaving in his sleep! I thought for sure the next few days would be spent in the hotel room with a sick kid... But by the next day, he was better and we were back out. Unfortunately DH and DS (8) came down with the same bug on the airplane ride home... They were miserable! The whole thing pretty much skipped me! :rolleyes1 You can't prevent illness completely unfortunately. You have to just hope for the best. Summer time travel tends to be better fewer viruses in the summer!
