Tales of Pixie Dust

DH and I went to WDW for our honeymoon in 2000. We got married on a Friday and had a 8am flight out to WDW the next morning! Our first full day at WDW, Sunday, we went to MK, of course! One of the first rides we went on was Splash Mountain because I had never been on it before. I loved it so we went again. We were able to sit in the front for the second ride. We passed in front of the big drop as another log was going down and got a little wet. DH shook his hands to get the water off and *splash*...there went his brand new wedding ring into the waters of splash mountain! I was so upset...I cried the rest of the ride.

When we got off the ride, we were told to go to City Hall to report it. I cried the whole way to City Hall. We made a report and were told that someone would contact us tomorrow if it is found. We heard several different things from several CM's...they drain the ride every night, the drain it once a week/month, there's a big net and it may catch it, if the ring is heavy it will sink and they may be able to find it. I managed to enjoy the rest of the day.

The next morning we left the GF to go to MGM. We went back to our room after a day at MGM and had no messages re the ring. I started crying again. DH called central lost and found and they didn't have anything. We were told this is where it would be sent if found. DH decided to call City Hall at MK again and they said they had something that matched our description! We hopped on the monorail, went to City Hall, and there was DH's ring!! I was SOOOO excited!! I couldn't believe that they actually took the time later that evening to look for the ring! We knew exactly where the ring came off, and DH's ring is platinum so it's pretty heavy and must have just sunk to the bottom and stayed there!

My favorite WDW memory naturally was ooozing with Pixie Dust! My DS 10 was there for his birthday. I had been to MGM back in 94, and loved the area that you could view the actual animation! It was incredible, we could not go the last time prior was fit for time did Eppct Magic Kingdom and AK. I was so sad to learn that they removed this area. Mulan was being done there and I was able to see how they actaully make a movie! My Ds loves to draw and has inherited his mothers gene. I draw stick people! Anyway, he is doing great with it now though. He wanted to see that area I had told hima ll about it he was soooo excited. I was so bumbed he was too! I felt terrible!

So, heres the magic part, we go into Epcot at the store that sells skethces and low and behold I find an artist and inquire what happened to that attraction. I learned the sad whys and this artist was actually a real animator who was just filling in that day only! He talked to my son for near an hour all about his life and steamboat Willie. Wow if that wasn't enough dust it got better, he asked my son to come behind his desk and had him sketch out Pluto and had him date and sign his work. IT was incredible ok, think the dust has blown over yet....think again here comes a dump of dust: He gave my son a certificate stating that he was the artist of the day at WDW My baby!!! OMG you know I burst into tears practically my son had been touched by the magic that makes WDW whimsical!

The animator signed it and gave him a frame and his picture. SO we left I was soooo in debt for what he gave my son and that was confidence and encouragement but most importantly HOPE!!!! That is more than I could ever dream of!

Ok so do you think I whipped out my camera and took pic right?? Nope dummy here was frozen in the dust filled moments of joy frozen thats right!!!!

So after dinner we go back to get his pic, he was gone!!! POOF!!! The girl said that was a once in a lifetime appearnace by this incredible man! My son was bumbed and then turned and asked Mom do you think hes like an Angel or something?? I said yes, he is a piece of heaven on Earth! Just like my son is to me!

So after returning home I got a huge frame for his certificate and drawing. I tohught let me look and see if maybe just may be we could get some info on hiim on ther internet. Well, I did and boy talk about a winfall! This animator has been with Disney for ages, hes retired and I can tell you no more as it will take some of the magic from this away, but one day he will really see how magical that was when he can comprehend who this man is!

See, I am crying again now?? ok so I better stop but I am delighted that you asked, this memory is one of my cherished ones! How one man touched my families life with sharing some incredible history with us and his life at DIsney!

Ok I am scooping my dust off this screen, hope someone gets how one person can inspire tohers is beyond my wildest dreams!

my dd (3) loves the Disney princesses. On our last trip in June it rained almost the whole trip. One afternoon we were walking through the countries in EPCOT and we stopped in France. My daughter found some wonderful Belle toys and the CM told us Belle is usually behind the perfume shop I know it's been raining but she may be there. We walked over and there was Belle and Aurora with no one else around. My daughter couldn't believe it! After pictures Belle signed the box that had my daughters new toys in.She still has the box and won't think of throwing it away.
