taking tux measurements

I know Ive read before how to measure for the coat size but dont remember what was said. DH had his brother measure him today - yippee. DH said he may wear it more than twice! Can we rent an extra shirt? Also shoe size - just put down his sneaker size? Do they keep coats in the next size up/down just in case we order the wrong size? How far in advance should I call?

I am so glad to hear that DH is getting in "the mood" for the cruise. My DH thought of renting a tux, but he may buy a black suit instead that he can wear later. I am really looking forward to the family formal photo.

Go to your local tux shop and ask them to measure you. They'll usually do that with no obligation. If you're uncomfortable doing that, tell them that you're going to be in an out-of-town wedding and all the rentals are being handled through a local shop in the town where the wedding is being held. They'll be happy to do the measurements for you because they want you to think of them favorably next time you want to rent a tux locally.
