We toured the new Poly studios a few weeks ago, but didn't want to pay almost 30k for 165 points, and we found we really prefer wilderness lodge. (We told the guide that we would really only want to buy WL, but he never even mentioned it as a possibility--only poly)

Started looking into resales after we got home. Made an offer on one that seemed like an incredible deal, then found out afterwards that it's a bankruptcy sale. Backed out ( had never signed paperwork because the bankruptcy trustee is out this week).

Found another contract we're happy with for less than half the poly price. Have an oral agreement and just waiting for sellers to sign the official paperwork. If it goes smoothly, we hopefully will spend next Christmas at the lodge. Wish us luck! Hopefully we'll be joining the ranks of dvc owners soon. :)

Good luck! Ours was sent to D about 10 days ago, so now we're waiting on ROFR. We think it'll pass based on what we've read, so fingers crossed... We'll be new owners too.

Good luck! I hope the ROFR Monkey is sleeping or distracted elsewhere!

Good luck - be sure to let us know how it works out. :)

Good luck! We joined DVC last year and really enjoyed our first vacation as DVC members. So much so that we have another contract in ROFR now. We hope to have a big family vacation in a few years!

Welcome Home.

I suggest that as soon as you are in the system, you add on 25 points direct to restore membership benefits, including AP discounts.

At the current time, a 25 point add on will make you a direct purchase member and that should be grandfathered for future changes.

I don't think 25 points will confer direct membership status for long. I suspect that a higher minimum number of direct points will be needed in the near future.

If this is something you believe you'll ever want, I'd do it sooner than later.

Do you want the old VWL or do you want the new VWL?

We're perfectly content with current VWL. We've stayed at the lodge itself twice in the last year and fell in love with it. Hubby grew up in a log home, so it feels homey to him. And with only 1 munchkin and being in our 40s, we figured the 2042 date was okay for us, and we don't need a big villa. If the New ones are fabulous, we can add on later.

Congrats! Our seller signed today for a wilderness lodge resale too!!!
