Taking Pictures of On Ride Photos Still Allowed?

I used to take photos of the monitors so I had the correct number to have the photo added to my account. Now with MB and PP+/MM their is no need.

So if I have a Magic Band, but do not prebuy Memory Maker, the photos will show up in my MDE account for me to look at? Or do I have to preorder MM to be able to see the photos in MDE?

They will show up in your account even if you have not purchased MM. You just can't download them untill you pay.

Yea you can take pics of the screen after the rides. But starting about the beginning of the year they put text over the pics to prevent people from getting free pics and trying to get more to buy them.

However yes, you don't need memory maker or photo pass to have your ride pics and videos sent to your mde. You have the option to buy, but you can take a screenshot on your phone and have a good quality photo. It won't be the quality you want to blow the pic up or anything like that. Put it's good enough quality and size to save to your phone, post on Facebook or whatever else you want.
I would bet in the near future these will start appearing with a watermark of some sort just because of this ability.

Rides like 7DMT don't even show you a preview pic... They just show up on your magic band.
They now have words over your photos with a countdown of how long they will be up on the screen so it takes away from the picture.

I saw people doing this as well when I went to various amusement parks - not nice to try and Cheat the system.

However if theirs a way people will do it

Yes, you can see the photos on MDE for 30 or 45 days. There also videos of 7DMT and ToT. I just took a picture of my computer screen at home. Much easier than trying to take a picture of the monitor after the ride.

They don't show up in the mobile app versions of MDE. I asked about it at one of the rides and they told me it had to be via computer. I couldn't view mine until I got home as I don't travel with my laptop. Once I logged on from there, a tab for Photopass showed up. We did not have/purchase Memory Maker, so this may be different.

Maybe everyone's not "cheating." As a PP said, often times I'll snap a pic with my phone just to text to friends at home. Most trips we buy PP/MM or at least some downloads and/or some ride pics. Please be assured that Disney is getting plenty of money from me each trip.

Disney newbie here... how exactly do they link up to your account via the magic band? Or maybe an easier to understand question - how exactly do they get the correct photo to the correct account? And does this work if you don't have a magic band and only the card?
We're only going 2 days and staying off-site so I'm trying to figure out if buying a magic band is worth it for just 2 days.

There's a sensor at the point where the picture is taken that detects your Magic Band. You can still get the picture without a Magic Band, though; you just have to get the number from the display pictures at the end of the ride.

Are you referring to the photos that get added to your MDE account? Mine don't have any words over the picture, and I've never purchased memory maker.

Thanks! I think maybe I'll get a magic band just to make photo stuff easier. Maybe have my brother or nephew get one too as they might go in more rides than me. Then we should have everyone covered :)

That's what we used to do too. When you used to have to add your ride photo to your account at the end of the ride it was hard to keep up with the numbers every time.

Maybe people would buy them much more often if they charged a reasonable price for on-ride pics. Every time I'm tempted to buy one, the outrageous price convinces me to keep taking pics of the screen.

Here is a picture I took last month.
As several people mentioned, there is visual blocking the people below us...and when I saw the memory maker picture, there are no visuals (the yeti hand, "Expedition Everest" logo, etc).

^you can edit the ride logos and frame on the computer in your photo pass account (still don't have to have memory maker to do it). Just like with the regular photo on there though you can take a screenshot or take a pic of the computer screen to save the pic.
