I just saw a rumor floating around on Twitter and fb that allegedly they want to take the newer Star Wars characters out of Galaxys edge.
Now while I agree with many people who commented on it that there has been no source and Rise of the Resistence would require multi million dollar refurbs AND they’d have to deal with union negotiations for the actors, I do wonder if they think that someone said Star Tours would be going back to the original. I would actually love for star tours to rotate constantly in and out of original, prequel, sequel, everything.

I just find it odd that this rumor is gaining traction the way it is.

Rumors on the internet....

SWGE is built around that time frame.... and while movie goers might not care about some of those stories, the characters are very popular. I'd put this along side of "I just saw Elvis".

I absolutely agree. It would be one thing if star tours was mentioned but you can’t just have characters that are that popular no longer appear. Plus there are characters who have appeared in most of the films like Chewbacca

Yea think with Rise of the Resistance it is unlikely. Without that the land could fit in any time period really, but they would have to redo all the filmed footage and audio and change out multiple animatronics. You could probably get away without changing the stormtroopers or random First Order people but then fans would probably complain that the costumes aren't the right version anyway. The land is still popular regardless so I don't see them taking the time to change it.

Agreed. It's kind of funny though, because they made a big deal about SWGE being a totally new land in part so that it wouldn't be tied to any specific trilogy...and then did ROTR.

D23 2015 ""These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance," Iger said. "

SWGE is what they always planned it to be...

I think they should have put it in the original trilogy timeframe, and honestly, they could do this without TOO many actual changes to the attractions, etc.

I know they didn't realize how badly the sequel trilogy was going to be received by die-hard fans when they were designing Galaxy's Edge

Eh, the sequels are great and it's just a lot of whiny fans who rail against them every chance they get - they're plenty popular. Now, personally, I think setting SWGE in a timeline was a mistake in general, but that has more to do with the use of the intense story elements instead of making just a Star Wars themed land. I've said it before, but I would have made it more fun and theme-park like, with lots of John Williams music and an X-Wing spinner ride right in the middle of it!

not a new rumor (previous rumor had them replacing current characters with Mandalorian-era characters) and it probably won't happen, the Starcruiser is set at the same time in the saga.

i love the orginal, but i also have kids that love the newer ones. I get it. I understand why they did what they did.

However i dont get why they have to be stuck in a timeline. I've said it before, Star Wars could have been its own park, different lands would be different planets or timelines. I think it would be huge.

I feel like they probably could incorporate Mandalorian characters into the land without much issue. The characters so far didn't appear in the trilogy but that doesn't mean they weren't around. Characters from the original trilogy showed up in the sequels so why not ones from after the original trilogy. Hondo Ohnaka is from the Clone Wars and is there even. So introducing them would't require any changes to the land to still fit in. The biggest thing would honestly be if the characters are killed of in future stories of Mandalorian, Boba Fett, Ahsoka, etc. But I imagine most of the major characters will make it through.

They could announce a 3-month "festival" like in Epcot and do original trilogy characters with a few small changes like switching out First Order banners for Imperial ones. It would juice things like bringing back the Main Street Electrical parade.

Can't imagine they would swap out Rise scenes for that, but it would be fun.

Not saying they will, this rumor has been floating around for awhile... but imagine if they could change the timeline - including the rides and do it on a semi-annual basis or something.

They could have exclusive timelines for Disneyland vs. Disney World too ... so for example Original Trilogy & Sequel Trilogy in Disney World and Prequel Trilogy & Mandalorian timeline in Disneyland.

It was an idea that I had thought about when GE first opened, I think it could be awesome and might drive people to go to both parks to and multiple times to experience it all.

Yes it would cost money, but eventually demand will die down for GE and I think this is one way they could keep it interesting. Right now I doubt they would do it because GE is still very popular, but I could see something like this eventually happening.

Maybe even update GE eventually to support a new trilogy that doesn't exist yet.

I am not a gigantic SW fan per say, but I am a fan. I do enjoy the sequel trilogy, and also recognize its faults….which I also do with the prequel and original and rouge one.
It would still cost money. And I also hate to think of all the young ones who saw themselves represented in these trilogies be taken out.

I think they are starting to do that with life day!
I also think bringing back Star Wars weekends could help.
And like I said maybe have star tours be completely random again would be awesome!

I like that idea. It's a great way to bring old characters into the land without having to change it completely. I feel like if they would figure out a way to give a walkaround character a glow, they could just have any Jedi characters like Obi-Wan and Luke appear as force ghosts too without ruining the timeline.

That force ghost idea is great. I bet you could accomplish it with a combination of lighting and costume materials if the characters hung out on a stage or inset area.

Yea it should be fairly easy for them to work out with a staging area. But would be amazing if they could find a way to make it work for a walk around character or true meet and greet.

I think it would be cool to do a little show at a staged location, like some old Jedi Temple ruins, then have the Force Ghosts come out and do a small show on their history/adventures, followed by some photo opportunities/meet & greet if possible. That'd make a nice addition.
