I'm going in September with my friend and her daughter (5) she has been on at me for years to take them and im finally doing it! Any suggestions for what to do first and how to go about the whole thing! I want it to be really special for them  We will be arriving at about 7pm and will have been up since about 4am that day so I would imagine we will not be going anywhere the first night :rotfl: maybe just a walk through the village and get something to eat there. So the first morning...what to do??

It feels like extra pressure taking newbies to somewhere you love doesn't it?

If you're staying on-site, and with your friends dd being young, I'd most definitely be going for EMH to make good use of Fantasyland. You'll also get some peace to wander round the castle, which i'm sure they'll love.

To be honest, I think just being there for the first time for anyone is magical enough. Try not to over think it, I'm sure they'll be in awe of it all. Disney really do the magic :goodvibes

I'd agree, let them take it all in as newbies :goodvibes. You can be their personal tour guide in that you can check the park programme for maybe 3 or 4 different things to see/do each day for you all, and plan to do those.

What I found when I went with my sister and her family one year was, they didn't have much of a clue about where to eat, so if you have favourite places, take them there :). They also weren't aware of all the shows/performances/parades, and how good they were. So we planned around those too.

Thanks guys :)

I do feel quite pressured! However, as it is 8 months away, I'm sure the pressure will wear off...

EMH is a must! We are staying at the Newport Bay. Will there definitely be EMH?? And are they only on particular days?

I took a whole family of newbies in July 2009 and I think I gave thme too much information before we went. So much that they obviously didn't take any of it in! I tried to let them decide themselves where to eat but really, I should probably have just decided for them :rotfl2:

I like the idea of a slow wander around the castle. Maybe we should spend the first few hours in fantasyland. She's a HUGE fan of Disney princess so I now she will just love it  the auberge is a must also. think we might do that the 2nd or 3rd night. I can't wait!!
