DS is a special needs child and he likes music, it calms him down. We have a small portable tape recorder that we keep in his bag for when he is having difficulty (crowds, lines etc) We have never had a problem taking this into the parks before but with all the new security and bag checks do you think we will have problems?? We also have now purchased a very small DVD player that we have begun carrying. We thought it may help on the plane after take off when you are allowed to use head sets etc. What do you think? Has anyone heard of any restrictions?? Thanks

Do you mean a portable DVD player with a headset? I can't imagine it being a problem, especially if you explain his situation.

With all the cameras and camcorders coming into the park I can't imagine there would be any problem at all. Security seems concerned with weapons, not electronic devices.

Thank you, you have helped put my mind at ease...........

Thank you, you have helped put my mind at ease...........although some people may consider "Barney music and Barney DVD's" a weapon of some sort!:D

We took a portable DVD player into the MK 12/01 when We attended MVMCP. Our dinner was very long and drawn out at CP because we were held before the party started so DD (6) watched part of a movie. We also used it so that we could stake out a spot early for the parade. All the kids in our general area flocked to the little screen to watch while they waited!

I can only see two problems:
1) If it was my DD, bringing it with once would mean it needs to come every time (which may escalate to bringing it along any time we go anywhere).
2) Things like that tend to get heavier and heavier as the day goes on., so by the end of the day you may be lugging around an 80 pound DVD player. (OK, I know that's not true, but you get the idea).

I agree...even 2 ounces seems like 2 lbs. The DVD player is pretty small and it fits in his "bag" that attaches to the back of his wheelchair. Thanks for the info!
