Taking a purse/bag on rides

Hi everyone! I have been to Disneyland twice in my life, and I am sooo excited about going back in about a week! WooHoo! Anyway, the first time I went, I was 19 years old (1993), so anything we needed my Mom held. She didn't like to ride rides. The second time I went (this past June) we had our 8 month old with us, so someone always had to watch the baby while the rest of us rode. That meant we could keep all our stuff on the stroller. This time, it will just be DH and I - therefore, no one to "hold" stuff. I will try to minimize what I take to the park and leave anything big at the room (staying at GCH). I know this is a little 80s/90s but is a fanny pack better than a purse? I love to ride rides, but I do have motion sickness sometimes so some rides I will be passing on. It is ok to just bring the purse/fanny bag on the ride with me, right? Should I put everything in a plastic bag for the "wet" rides? Thanks!

when we go to disneyland, i use a fanny pack to carry my camera. i find it to be much more convenient than carrying a backpack. i always use ziplock bags for wet rides.

Last time we went, I pretty much took everything in my camera bag and it came on EVERY ride with me except GRR. I left it back in the room when we went on GRR. Camera bag did pretty well for everything even keeping things dry on Splash Mountian.

I always take my D-SLR so my camera fitting into a purse or a fanny pack isn't possible but I always take my camera bag on every ride (never done GRR, but I'd probably leave it if I was planning on that one!!) and never have a problem with having it one the rides. I loved that even on Splash Mountain it kept my contents perfectly dry. I know that wouldn't have been the case with my regular purse, that's for sure.

I use a fanny pack for camera, etc. I carry a backpack for water, snacks, etc. Was able to take them on every ride. No problem.

I use a fanny/waist pack for all of my stuff. I don't have a backache at the end of the day and it can go on all of the rides. If you take GRR, they do provide lockers for you to use to put stuff in that you don't want to get wet.

If I'm going with the family, I take a Heys Backpack, and a fanny pack. If I'm going solo, I'm taking my Bagallinni, as it's really comfy, and has enough room to lug around my Sony DSLR in, if I'm tired of carrying it.

If I'm not wearing shorts with zippered or buttoned pockets, I carry a slim sling bag/purse. It's also called a crossbody bag. Mine is made by Kipling. I took off the little gorilla key chain attachment, though. It has multiple pockets and compartments. I've included a link below. There are some colors on sale right now for half off. BTW, I do not work for this company and have no affiliation with them whatsoever. lol. I just wanted to share my newest fave "Disneyland" bag.

I always take a backpack filled with stuff. Sometimes it has up to three sweatshirts plus everything else and I'm still able to take it on every ride (Except Screamin) and fit it between my legs. So you'll have no problems!

I take a backpack that is on the smaller side, but it's definitely not tiny. I usually take it off and put it on the floor with my legs through the straps when we go on coasters and such. I've never had a problem.

For wet rides, sometimes I just put my camera and anything I'm really sensitive about into a small plastic bag within the backpack and let the rest of the bag get wet, other times I try to find a locker, other times I carry a really big plastic bag with me (2 gallon size or even bigger) that I put it into. It just all depends on my mood of the day!

I always bring a camelback filled with water and it hold the necessities. It is small enough that it is not a pain to carry around (not to mention I can drink water whenever I want). :)

How do you refill a camelbak in the parks? I am considering taking a camelbak waistpack instead of my two camelbak bottles, but I am concerned about refilling them while inside DLR. (I know that my daughter will want to share it too...gross, yes. But it's a fact of life with a 4 year-old!)

I have a denim fanny pack that I reserve for Disney. We always carry ziplock for cameras and phones ever since DH ruined our video camera in the rain at DL on New Year's eve a few years ago. All the rides that don't allow you to hold items in your hans have places to stow them while on the rides.

I use the Baggallini Around Town Bagg. It has a long strap so I can wear it across my body. It has several different compartments and holds everything I need. I'm able to wear it on all rides very comfortably and never have to take it off.

A waist pack is fine. I am not going to wear one, but anyone else is welcome to do it. (I hate things around my waist and they have never ever been flattering on me)

As far as I know there are no rides at DLR that won't let you bring stuff with you. Many rides even have mesh pocket things to put your stuff in.

With Grizzly, please do use their free lockers! Ask a cast member if you don't see them...it's a computerized system, they give you a receipt with locker number and your combination...keep that with you (I put it in my plastic lanyard pouch) but put anything else that you don't want to bring on GRR into the locker (they are relatively small, though!). Lock it up, go on the ride, come on back and use the combination to get your stuff out!

I do carry plastic bags in my backpack so I can put cameras, autograph books, whatever...into the plastic bag just in case.

And there's also the option of asking at a store for an extra bag. They will likely give you a *clear* plastic bag. YOu put your purse or backpack or whatever in there, twist it up, go on the ride, and things *should* be dry. We also use those to put our ponchos in, once they are wet (it's always seemed rude to shake out a poncho when there's a crowd).

That purse is really cute ! :thumbsup2

I use to carry a fanny pac, but I got tired of taking it off and on in the bathroom or wherever.

Than I did a small bac-pac, but got tired of taking it off to get into it all the time.

I now use a cross-over type of purse. It has a zippered front pocket to put my fastpasses in.
And, zippered pockets inside, so I don't lose anything.
And, it's made of nylon, so hopefully it's waterproof. It also has Tink on the front with my name. (Got it on Disney.com) !!!!:goodvibes

Thanks! :) It's on clearance right now at Macy's. I'm going to try to get another one in a different color. :teeth:
The purse you have sounds great! That sort of organization and unobtrusiveness is exactly what I was looking for in my "disneyland purse". I wanted to access my gear easily and walk around/ride about without really realizing it was there. That's why I love small crossbody bags for this. :thumbsup2

I always wear a backpack at Disneyland and have been able to get on every single ride with it.

You know what OP, at DCA, they have these lockers right near the ride—they are free to use during the ride, they do not cost A dime! And they stay free for one hour ( I think that is what it said on the screen), so if you happen to go on GRR at DCA you can use those to put your valuables that you don’t want to get wet!

DL doesn’t have anything like that, but a plastic bag is good I guess for SM. Otherwise always is lockers on main st, that cost $7.00 for all day(small lockers), and $12.00 for the bigger lockers-again able to use all day.
