Hey i was just curious, i know you are supposed to have full availibility while on the program but if i requested to take 2 days off for my aunts wedding and reception how would this hurt/go against me? this is something that i was really looking forward to and would hate to miss it.

It is possible. You can put in a request and they will either accept or deny it. If for some reason you get scheduled when you are going to be out of town you can ask other cast members in your area if they will pick up your shift. There are always people looking for more hours :)

okay thanks, i just didnt know if there would be a penalty for requesting time off if it wasnt an emergency. i know it sounds silly but ya never know. haha

Asking off is no problem. I had a roommate who asked off Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years the day she got there just to see if she could get any of them off. She ended up getting Thanksgiving and New Years off. Pretty cool. She also asked off like twelve days while her family came (yes, her family came for two weeks!). They never said a word. :)

thats awesome! maybe i will ask for time off when my family comes in,too! (except theyd probably only stay 5 days. haha)

i thought they were reallyyy strict with taking time off. i guess i was wrong! haha

Yeah, I guess I should clarify. Just because you ask off doesn't mean they'll always approve it. I've found from experience (depending on your location, and the time of your program - obviously if you're asking off around holidays you're less likely to get it) you're request off gets accepted about 70% of the time. Just because you ask off doesn't mean they'll approve it, but worst comes to worst you can just find a friend to take over your shift, too. Don't stress too much about it, just make sure you ask off the days as early as possible. Good luck!

yeah, i know it doesnt get approved all the time. but its just like a randomw eekend in april not a holiday or anything so hopefully ill get it :)

you can request those days off via the HUB but if it doesn't get approved you can always give those shifts away or trade. I recommend using facebook(the shift trading groups) or the shift give away board in your break room!

thank you so much! i was so worried about missing this and id also get to see the rest of my family too!

Is it better to actually request the time off, or to just trade off shifts? My DD works in a very popular attraction, and from what I gather, the seasonal CM's are eager to pick up shifts. I'd love to fly her home for a few days to visit - what do the CM's on this board think?

thanks,

To guaranty that she has the days off, it'd be best for her to request them off, especially if its far enough in advance. Then, if the request is denied, then she could try to give them away. It's more risky if she doesn't ask them off because there might be some of the days that no one will want to take the shift. I know my friend, mouse height character performer, tries to give away shifts if she ends up going out of town, and even though there are loads of people who could take her shifts, they dont always get given away.

There is honestly no penalty or problem with requesting days off. You can request them way in advance and you know within a few days if your request was accepted or denied so you can make your plans.
