Danauk - ewwww.... I don't know that I want to make that black pudding anymore!!! I'm sure it's good, or you all would not be eating it, but maybe I was better off not knowing what was in it! Is it an English staple that everyone loves so I should too? ... (my ancestor was Oliver Cromwell which I'm not sure I want to admit). And I come from a long line of Herefords ... so maybe I'd like that nasty stuff.

:)

Black pudding is an aquired taste! It's not something I eat a lot of.

llebrekniT I've not had any trouble recieving chocolate items, I think it is just a problem getting things into the USA not out of it.

Danauk I'm so sorry you had to go to so much trouble over the chocolate.....but we appreciate it so much! Just name what you'd like sent back to you and consider it done!

....the first time I dealt with black pudding was in a Bed and Breakfast in Edinburgh, Scotland. The hostess was so sweet and none of us wanted to hurt her feeling so we had to eat, and you know what.....I'm glad I tried it....probably wouldn't have it often..but it did have a distinct flavor....

Ahoy there ohanafamily !, who could forget Wyatt and those WONDERFUL jeep rides. Of course we had good ol' Lil running the show at Camp Seafarer. The main office is based here at the Raleigh YMCA so we have reunions here all the time. It's amazing how many campers went on to be counselors and now are sending their kids. My church even has family weekends there. Maybe you and RRBB could come and join us!

Morning...err...afternoon everyone! SO sorry I missed breakfast, as it all sounded so good! I had Pop-Tarts:rolleyes:

It's a beautiful day here in Virginia....sunny and 62º! We spent mid-day outside in the sun, DH cut the grass and fixed the seat on the sandbox, DD and DS got good and sandy in the sandbox before heading off to naps. Not the best day, though...they're both still sick and DD seems to be worse....throwing up now rather than just a little upset stomach...DS still having both sorts of stomach trouble....

Don't be too jealous about our weather, though...it'll be back in the 20's by mid-week

Danauk I've eaten haggis (and thought it was good!), but I must say that black pudding sounds a little beyond me! Is it really as bad as it sounds? I guess it was the blood part that did me in...

ohanafamily I'm with you on the taxes today. Last day to file with TurboTax under the cheaper "early-bird" plan!! Don't know whiy I've been putting it off...we're getting a refund! But just lazy, I guess...

RRBB Sorry to see how bad the tourney is for you! DH usually runs the office pool, but didn't have time this year, but you'd still think he was! We missed Trading Spaces (a favorite show) last night to watch the games! That reminds me....gotta call DCousin who went to North Carolina and try to console him...

Bichon Barb SO sorry about your snow! Even though it's warm here today, I know how you feel. We get one or two nice days then it plummets again! I am SO ready for spring I can't stand it!

Have a good weekend everyone and I'll check back later!

Oh, about that sauce....I can probably get some single bottles if anyone is truly interested in the mustard one I was talking about! (It's only available in 4-packs or larger for ordering.) My mom still eats there back home and sends them to me every now and again....she knows it's a favorite in this house!

I'm not too much of a haggis fan, although my DH likes to get battered haggis from the local fish and chip shop occasionally. I first ate black pudding before I knew what was in it! It's not as bad as it sounds.

SALE ALERT! SALE ALERT!

The whole fam damily went to the mall after church. (What else is there to do in a spring blizzard? ) I had a 15 percent off coupon for Old Navy. You know how it is. It was burning a hole in my pocket. :teeth: Anyhoo, they have khaki and navy pleated boys shorts on sale for $10 -- the kind that look like Dockers. Also, they have nice short sleeve button down cotton shirts and knit cotton polo shirts on sale for $10. Old Navy logo tees are $7.

So, for just over $50, I got each of the boys a pair of the shorts, each a matching tee, and a matching polo shirt. :Pinkbounc

I also stopped in Yankee Candle. (All this talk of YC on these boards, I HAD to go in there.) So I bought two pillar candles. I think they are called fresh linen, or clean clothes or Bottle of Tide or something like that. ;) At least my house can smell spring fresh.

Oh, Kadaten (I'm not getting the color and losing this whole post ;) ), where is Chesapeake VA? Is it anywhere near Norfolk? My brother and SIL are in Norfolk. Wait, aren't you on the naval base? Two years ago during April vacation, we camped at Williamsburg for a week. My DS and BIL and niece drove up from Atlanta and met us there. I wish we could do it this year, but DH has a business trip. :( Anyway, I always say if we had to move, I think I'd want to move to that area. ::yes::

Food Items are generally OK from the US if they are pre-packaged/homogenized etc. the big exception is anything beef. Flowers and plants are also a no-no, but I think seeds are OK.

We sent a few packs of seeds to Danauk along with a Wonka Bar, and there was no problem. (I actually called American Airlines and told them I have a family member going to England and wanted to know if they can bring the following items with them...

We also ran into a bit of a hard time with some Corn-Flakes coming back from Korea...

cadburysmom, All I can say is SUGAR DADDY...My folks asked my counselor to put me on a diet, I won a whole box....I used to love capsizing the Flippers....Oh yes they call it a flipper, Fastest boat in the river...not a better boat to be found in all of Pamlico Sound.....

CourtasanSatine, 4/10 is at the end of Passover (I was reminded) and RRBB may still be at her sister's house (in San-Antonio...I may have to meet you without her...and Ponchos is not a good place for her anyway (she keeps Kosher during Passover) Let me know, at any rate, I would love to meet up with you...

:bounce:

Well, I just crumpled in a heap... I had Cincinnati going to the Finals against Kentucky. Last time I pick a team because it's Ed's alma mater!!!

I am so happy, RRBB just told me that she got 4 right things in the basketba;; thingy she is in!!!!! She is doing so well, I am so happy for her.....

Thinking about getting a snack at Long-John Silvers. Anybody want anything?????

:bounce:

Good for Robin!! I'm glad to hear SOMEONE is doing well!! hee hee!

ohanafamily is just being obnoxious. I'm really doing lousy - 5th place in our group of 6. Thankfully OKState just won to keep one of my choices heading to the Final Four. I think over the last 2 days I've gotten all of 4 wins in.

Do you mean to say 4 wins wasn't good for you this weekend? I would have thought that that was splendiforous...

:bounce:

Will someone please tell ohanafamily to go away!!! I'm thinking he needs to take a trip over to DD to pick up some munchies for us. Oh, and take your time.

Oh well, since I obvously know nothing of this BasketBall Thingy you are doing, I am off to get Fish&Chips. I don't think LJS serves Black Pudding though.....

for ohanafamily:

Black Pudding From Scratch (English)
Average Rating: (43 votes)

Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients
1 1/4 qt Fresh pig's blood
8 7/8 oz Bread cut into cubes
1 1/4 qt Skim milk
1 lb Cooked barley
1 lb Fresh beef suet
8 oz Fine oatmeal
1 ts Salt
2 ts Ground black pepper
2 ts Dried and crumbled mint

Instructions 1. Put the bread cubes to soak in the milk in a warm oven. Do not heat the milk beyond blood temperature! Have the blood ready in a large bowl, and pour the warm milk and bread into it. Stir in the cooked barley. Grate the beef suet into the mixture and stir it up with the oatmeal. Season with the salt, pepper and mint.

2. Have ready 2 or three large roasting pans. Divide the mixture between them - they should not be more than 3/4 full. Bake in a moderate oven -- 350 F - for about an hour or until the pudding is well cooked through. This makes a beautifully light pudding which will keep well in a cold larder.

3. Cut into squared and fry till heated through and the outside is crisp, in bacon fat or butter. Delicious for breakfast, or for supper with fried apples and mashed potato.

:teeth:

And as an offer of atonement for posting that last recipe, I am leaving a Fudge Truffle Cheesecake in the fridge for anyone who's a bit hungry.

I got the recipe from someone who brought it to our dinner club last night. mmmmmmmmm ... good!

Here is the recipe for the cheesecake I brought last night….

Fudge Truffle Cheesecake

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips 3 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk 4 eggs

2 tsps vanilla extract Chocolate Crumb crust

Heat oven to 300 degrees F. In microwave-safe bowl, place chocolate chips. Microwave on HIGH 1½ minutes, stir. If necessary, microwave on HIGH an add’l 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, just until chips are melted when stirred. In large bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in sweetened condensed milk until smooth. Add melted chips, eggs, and vanilla; mix well. Pour into prepared chocolate crumb crust. Bake 1 hour and 5 minutes or until center is set (mine took about 1 hour and 30 minutes). Remove from oven to wire rack. With knife, loosen cake from side of pan. Cool completely, remove side of pan. Refrigerate several hours before serving.

Chocolate Crumb crust: (I made my crust from Oreo crumbs, sugar, and butter)

In medium bowl, stir together 1 ½ cups vanilla wafer crumbs, ½ cup powdered sugar, 1/3 cup cocoa, and 1/3 cup melted butter or margarine. Press firmly onto bottom of 9” spring form pan.

I'm telling you what, by the time I get caught up on the posts, I don't have time to say much.

My desktop picture changes all the time, but it's always one from a trip to WDW. What else is there?

I might add one thing about shipping food stuffs. One sure way to get your package checked (inspected) is for it to smell like coffee. Found that out after I packed my Starbucks in our bags to Orlando this last trip.

Gotta run!

Just popped back in to say goodnight :wave2:

I catch up on all the news when I get back from work tomorrow.
Have a good evening everyone.

Oh Rats! I missed Danauk!
Well, dear, when you read this in the AM...I'm going to send you my work address. Decided the chocolate should go there....less likely it will sit outside than if it comes to my house when I'm not here. The temp. is climbing and I don't want it to melt! Look for PM.

Bichon Barb, is the Yankee Candle you got Clean Cotton? It's my all time favorite. There is also one called Fresh Linen which is very nice too.

Well, I'm off to do grocery shopping....must pack my lunch EVERY DAY for the next 4 weeks to save for WDW restaurants instead! Must start saying no when people want to go out to dine. I need to say, "No, I'd rather eat at Boma, thank you!"
