Rick, if you get the new job, then you can volunteer at the old place, make your feelings known as a volunteer how it stinks that the e-team is so awful, and they can't fire you!

Now THAT is a GREAT idea! LOL!

ILUVTINK, you have beautiful kids! :Pinkbounc And the furkids are pretty cute too! :teeth: How old are they?

RICK, when you work for a NFP, are they more lax about taking time off for vacations, etc. That was one concern I had when Rob wanted to take the job in Florida. He's not used to being told when he can take vacation and how long, etc.

Actually, do to the "seasons", I have more restrictions as far as when I can actually take time off. I'd never actually be told no here, but I couldn't take time off and enjoy it because it's so busy certain times of year.

Rick.. IMHO anytime one leaves one postion to go to another, you feel like you are leaving them with all the work.., even if you are transferring departments.. but in the end, you and Joe are the one that need to consider your future and your plans..

They will find someone else to do the things that you do, maybe not as good as you do them but the job will get done..

So , IMHO, this is a decision for the two of you.. will you be happier, less stressed?? will additional $$ make life better for the 2 of you?? Will it fund a comfortable retirement? Travel? How does Joe feel about this?? will it make him happier if you don't have to work a lot of weekends and night?

In the end whatever you do will be the right thing..

Come to Poppa!

He looks like Will from Will & Grace a little bit! But far better looking.

Yep! That's who he looks like. I couldn't think of who he reminded me of, but you got it. Yep, he looks like Eric McCormack, only cuter. ::yes::

I'm just gonna see about meeting with them and hear what they have to say, "wow" them and weigh my options should I get an offer. Who knows? I may go in, they may laugh and tell me "better luck next time."

Ok, so here's a situation for you to ponder and offer your opinions. I love my job and really enjoy what I do. I also like the challenges that pop up on a seemingly weekly basis. And the good that the organization does for the community is such a great bonus. Here's the thing.

I got a call from one of my contacts that I'd been working at from XYZ financial company. They have a great community services/affairs department and work with agencies like ours all the time. I presented a workshop with her in the past, plus gave a presentation onsite at her company. Developed a great working relationship.

Now, she's leaving the company and suggested I send my resume to their company to replace her. On a whim, I did so, thinking that they'd never call me because I don't have ALL the requirements they're looking for. Lo and behold, Joe called me from home and told me that they left me a message to call them back. I've since done so, leaving a voice mail message.

My conflict is that I know if I were to leave, I'd be leaving the company in the lurch big time. There are so many big probjects coming down the pike in the weeks and months ahead and they don't have anyone internally who would want to handle them (lots of nights and weekends).

I know this is really putting the cart before the horse but if they XYZ dangled lots of money in my face, I'd probably snatch it up.

Why would I be looking you ask? I'm not really. Like I said, I love my job. But the one big problem I have is the complete and utter lack of respect the higher ups have for the volunteers. It's like pulling teeth to get them to acknowledge them, let alone say thank you. It's to the put of absolute insulting behavior.

Their only interest is in our development depart, i.e. the money people. There have been a couple of people who were hired well after me that loudly complained that they needed a raise and a promotion. And they got it!

If you bring in money, you get the notice. You bring in volunteers to do the grunt work, you get a brief smile and a pat on the head. Insulting I tell you.

But I love the company that notwithstanding. But I want a raise and a better position. Which I know they didn't submit for the new FY04 budget.

What would you do?

depending on the issue of money, id say you need to ask yourself what you like to do , and pick the job that has more of that involved in it....

ahhh i dont know much though, i dont think ive ever had a real job...

<font color=limegreen>iluvtink</font> great pics!!!!!!!!!
:sunny:

<font size=7>WELCOME BACK, <font color=blue>ohanafamily</font> and <font color=darkorchid>RRBB</font> !! </font>

My legs hurt.........and it's raining!!!! I would go outside and walk to get my legs stronger{and smaller!!! I hate my legs, of the 121lbs I weigh, I think around 110 is my stupid legs, LoL!!!!:teeth:}, but I kinda can't, LoL!!!!!!:teeth:

Hope Daniel's team wins!!!!

She hasn't been around lately, not even at the POTC club....
