Morning all!
Just checking in between morning chores....yes, I'm actually doing some! ::yes:: Went through a large pile of junk mail that's been piling up. I used to just toss it without looking, but accidentely threw away a charge card bill once......ouch, late fee! So I pay closer attention now.

Going to see "Stepford Wives" today with PixieMagic and a pal from work and should be booking Oct airline tickets today also, as I signed up for both Southwest and America West frequent flyer programs yesterday.

BTW, nice to see you around here again Laura, don't be such a stranger!

TalkisCheap, don't worry about that girlfriend.....they'll come and go....stay his friend and who knows what the future will bring!

Well, off to check movie times......have a great day everyone!

Yeah, I don't mind as much as I thought I did. I'd rather be his friend, because at least that will last....I just wish we weren't such good friends, because I don't want to hear about his dates!! But, I'm fine. I'm not worried about having a boyfriend just yet....I want to have a fun summer with my friends!!

I can't wait to see Stepford Wives. Me and my sister tried to go Friday but we tried 2 movie theaters and they were both sold out, so, I'm probably going to go next friday with some friends to celebrate the real start of summer!!

Well, me and Holly are going to go see if my neighbor wants to go for a walk! Talk to you guys later!

Morning friends,

We all slept until 9:30 this a.m.!!! Decadent!

Bichon Barb - Kelley is headed your way. They left for Saranac at 12:15 this morning. Keep an eye on her, okay, even if she is several bunches of miles away. You're the closest mom for her!

I have to mow yard, clean house, and Katie wants to go to Wyandot Lake (water park), so I'll check back later. Hope everyone has a great day.

:) ILT

No problemo, ILUVTINK! We'll be up that way for Fourth of July weekend. Will she still be there?

BTW, guess what I'm getting DH for his 40th birthday? A ride on the bobsled up at Lake Placid. I thought that was a befitting midlife crisis gift. Oh, and I'm getting him the stupid fly fishing rod that he wants -- yes, he is taking up yet another new hobby.

LLEBREKNIT, I just heard Off the Richter the other day for the first time. Of course now I can't remember how it goes, but I remember that I liked it.

Eric has one of the NOW CD's. It's the one that has "Jessie's mom has got it goin' on" on it. I like to sing along to it in the car, but I just change the words and sing "ERIC'S MOM HAS GOT IT GOIN' ON..." It really grosses Eric out, so I make sure to do that regularly. :teeth:

Rob doesn't like Rap and Hip Hop, but there is one song on there that he likes. I don't know the name of it but the lyrics go--"What's the hook gonna be, oh oh, I don't need no effin hook on this beat. All I need is a track in the back round my headphones down and blah blah something around."

Great, now I'm going to be singing that all day. You know, I can really understand why these kids like this kind of music. It's just too bad that the lyrics have to be "R" rated.

"Off the Richter,
Off the richter,
Off the richter,
Off the richter,
Steady-eady-eady-eady"

That's all I got. That's all I can remember, the rest of it is so hard to recall because it is jibber-jabbery.

Daniel has that CD, I'll try singing it with putting "Eric" in place of Jessie. Jessie? Doesn't sound right, are you sure it's Jessie? I'm going to go look. Also not sure which song your DH is liking so much.

Be right back.

DHB can tell you about the time Daniel got the new NOW with "It's gettin' hot in here". I know what you mean about the R rated lyrics. Fortunately most of it still goes over his head.

Mornin'/afternoon y'all!

Deadheadbelle and Bichon Barb I'm SO out of the loop. I've never heard of any of those songs you're talking about....except that "Stacy's mom has got it goin' on..." one  Just call me culturallly illiterate...

My email's acting up. Can't tell if noone's talking to me :( or if it's screwed up and not coming through....slightly better option, but still :( Was getting only about 1/2 my emails on Friday (the tech was completely stumped as to why....that can't be a good sign), and have received none since I called COX to complain...maybe they completely blocked me since I was a whiner  Who knows! I sent out a tester email to see if anyone replied by noone did....so can't tell what's going on yet. Just hope it comes back up soon....

A lazy day here....was going to go to the Botanical Garden with a friend, but a new exhibit opens next week that we want to see, so we're going to go next week. And hopefully DH will come home early and can join us....here's hopin'!

Well, off to cruise the boards...

Good morning! Just got home from church and now I'm in the worst mood ever. Did I tell you Matt has a girlfriend? Yeah, I know....and now he's telling me every detail of their date last night....I have this horrible urge to just yell SHUT UP so loud he'll hear me. Grrr

Anyway. I own Pride & Prejudice! He is a total hottie as Mr. Darcy!! It's so cute how he smiles when she plays the piano...I dunno he's just soooo cute!

OMG...that's MY favorite scene too! :lovestruc And you are a smart girl to follow ibouncetoo's advice. Let the other girls be his "guinea pigs" for dating......dating is really hard when you're a teenager(when you're older too) and a lot of mistakes are made where you probably don't want to see that person again....let the other girls be his "mistakes" and he'll appreciate you more in the end ::yes:: Sure hope I said that right ....end of lecture  :teeth:

ibouncetoo Let me know how Stepford Wives is! Our local movie critic trashed it, but hey, they also trashed Good Will Hunting, which is one of my fav movies, so I don't trust their opinion.

I'm SOOOOO old! :(

I've been reading your posts about all these new songs and all I recognize is the Beastie Boys, but I only remember them from "YOU'VE GOT TO FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT...TO PAAAAARTY!!!!" I do like that song that goes "This girl is taking her toll on me, she's said good bye too many times before".....anybody recognize it  ....probably screwed up the words anyway....thank heavens you don't have to hear me hum it :teeth:

Cheeringmom Hope you're enjoying Washington today and I forgot to say CONGRATS for Tom's big win! Sounds like you've got a future Olympian there ::yes::

llebrekniT Congrats also to Daniel for all his recent wins AND catching the ball to cause the out that won the game.....now that's SERIOUS stuff to be proud of :smooth:

......and so sorry sweet Holly got sick too :)and hope she's feeling better.

It's been busy around here lately so I've had so many posts to catch up on and by the time I do, I've forgotten about the ones I wanted to respond to......is this old age or just plain airheadedness....which do you think is better....I'm doomed either way...argghh! :worried:

Okay, I'm OLD too... don't have a clue what you all are talking about music wise - -- except that I've always hated "it's getting hot in here." Oh, and although I loved the beat and the music of "it wasn't me" that came out a few years ago, I thought the lyrics about the bathroom floor, the counter, etc. were a bit too much for public listening! hee hee

BARB - Kelley is at a McD 10 minutes from Saranac Lake... called to tell me they are arriving safely. Isn't that sweet? She's only there a week - will be home next Saturday at midnight ... but perhaps they'll still be talking about her when you're there for the 4th. (Let me know if you hear anything I should know!) By the 4th, we'll have been to California for a week, and will be in Nashville visiting family ... and getting close to our WDW trip!

I'll keep lurking like when I come in to get a drink of water from mowing the lawn.

:wave2:

iluvtink You are right! That song was waaaay too much. Almost as embarrassing as the one with the lyric "You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals, let's do it like they do it on the Discovery Channel" Do you remember that one? About 3 summers ago.

As kadaten pointed out, it's "Stacy's" mom, not Jessie's. Way to go Katie!

Thanks Cadburysmom and Holly will survive. She doesn't take illness or boo-boos very well. She'll never make it through pregnancy and child-birth.

QUESTION: (skip if not interested in friendship problems)

Speaking of old age, I'm in kind of a conundrum(love this word) about something ....a bunch of my college buddies are taking a cruise in July to celebrate turning that unspeakable age that comes after 39  I originally couldn't go due to financial and babysitting reasons but it just so happens that now one friend can't go and offered me her spot if I paid her what she originally paid which sounds fair to me.::yes:: I said yes cause Jordan will be with his dad that week and I can now afford it if I do NOTHING else all summer. I really want to do this because I have a blast with these friends and it's been years since we've been together without kids and husbands.

My conumdrum is this......there is a $100 fee imposed by the cruise line to change the name on the reservation. I thought it would be fair if I paid $50 and the girl who had to cancel paid $50. She said NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT  saying that she is losing airfare too and refuses to pay her half of the $100. Well, I have to buy my own airfare too so it's not like I'm taking advantage of HER situation at all......actually, she would lose ALL her money if it weren't for me because her reason for cancelling is NOT covered by her travel insurance. I hate to fight with her and maybe lose a friend over $50 but I can barely afford to go as it is and I think I have a valid point.......probably should've put this on the CB but care much more about your opinions.

Am I being unreasonable about this???? Help!!!:confused3 :sad2:

Hi all,

llebrekniT, a little green dragon just gave me a serious talking to, and he told me to clean out my PM box (again). Sorry. He made me promise to be better about responding to PMS, and watching unintentional sarcasm (especially around pregnant wives.

cadburysmom, that is a tough one... If it were me I would tell her what you just told us (the first part) that money is tight, and if you thought you could afford it, you would have booked when she did. I don't think either response is unreasonable, but I think that in her mind you are trying to take advantage of her. I am not sure what I would do. Sorry I am no help....

TalkisCheap, I would pay close attention to know where Matt's Girlfriend messes up, remember, being the friend, you can always lay nasty barbs about how they really don't understand him.....

OK, I feel really old now, I only recognize one song that you were all talking about.....

Gotta run, Change and take Wife and DNiece to Lords of Dance.

I thought Jessie's mom didn't sound right either. Told you I always screw up the words. :o I must have had "I wish that I had Jessie's girl" in the back of my mind.

CADBURYSMOM, your friend is lucky that you have offered to "buy her out". Me thinks she is a cheapskate! You are not being unreasonable.

Well, the clouds are moving in fast now. :( I think we may have to move the party indoors this afternoon.

ITA. If not for you, she'd lose it all. She will be able to apply her airfare (minus the changing fee) to another reservation, so I say stick to your guns. If it were me, I'd expect her to pay the whole $100, but that's just me.

BTW Barb, I sing "Lainie's mom has got it going on" all the time. Yep, I am cool.

::yes:: ::yes:: ITA!!! (Sounds like some of my friends across the street  but that's another story....)

Do remind her she will get a credit for the airfare to use in the future....and if you don't go in her place she'll lose it all....but find a REALLY nice way to say that...sorry, can't help you with that one....

Thanks Bichon Barb, kadaten and Deadheadbelle for your support. One of the my other friends just emailed me and is going to call and talk some sense into the one who is cancelling. And thanks for the head's up about the airfare credit, I'm sure that will definitely make her feel better.

Thanks again  and have a great afternoon!

We're off the buy a fish for the new fish tank :fish: :wave2:

cadburysmom is your friend perhaps blonde?

Joking, don't get your pampered princess panties in a twist!

On the one hand I think "of course you should split the cost, at the very least." Then I think "is $50 worth losing a friend, causing sore feelings?" Then I think "well obviously $50 is worth sore feelings to your friend". So I don't know. A go between who could point out the error in her thinking might be a good idea. In any case, you're going to have such a great time, who cares?

Here is llebrekniT's way of looking at these type of things. I try to follow this rule with most of these types of decisions - will I regret this decision in 1, 5, 10 or 20 years? If you think 10 years from now the $50 will still be eating away at you, stand your ground. If you think 10 years from now you may be without this friend and it was all over $50, let it go.

Good luck!

I am going to eat a little bit of my Wonka bar and cruise about the DIS in search of enlightenment, I'll be back in a bit.

cadburysmom I agree with you that you should probably pay the $50 each. I think it is a good idea too that another of your friends has a word with her. Hopefully that might help.

So is everyone having a good Sunday? I went to my rehearsal this afternoon and it is sounding really good. When I came home there was a man playing the bagpipes on the field next to my house!! (We live right next to the field.) I mean who in their right minds just stands in a field with lots of houses around playing the bagpipes (badly might I add!!)

Right now I am sitting watching the football match on the TV. England are playing France right now in the European competition. I think nearly the whole country must be watching. When we scored you could hear cheering from every house in the street!! At the moment we are winning 1-0 but there is another 30 minutes to go yet.

Today I have also been doing some more gardening. We had a huge bush that went across the front of our house and the house next door. However we got annoyed with it as it keeps growing in front of the door so the neighbour and I decided it had to go! So now we have an empty flower bed. I think I will just put some bark chippings down and two planters which we can change each season.
Also today I have been planning my maths lesson for tomorrow for which I am being observed by an inspector (send PD my way at 11:15 - 12:15 UK time tomorrow please.)

Oh well back to watching the football.... Come on England:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :thewave:

I have a feeling we might not win though. We have just been given a penalty and our captain didn't score!! (The goalkeeper - who actually plays for an England club saved it!)

That's "This Love" By Maroon 5. Their lead singer is HOTT!! I love that song and listen to it all the time on Yahoo. "Stacy's Mom" WAS a good song until it got SO overplayed it's insain. It's also OLD! I remember singing it way back in CC season(last fall!!). I liked it then! My favorite song right now is The Whole World by OutKast, but give me anything by OutKast and I'll love it! I'm DYING to get their double cd. I'm getting the "clean" version though, because my mom won't like the parental advisory on the front of the regular one. I hate swearing, and I never do it(well...it has to be really bad, and even then, I think it and not say it) so I always get the clean versions of songs. Like that song that came out a year or so ago, "She fing hates me" so now when I listen to the single of it, it sounds more like "She ____ hates me" so I like it...and so does my mom ;) :D

Ohhh! It's Miss Jackson playing! I totally love Dre's abs in this video... :faint: just gorgeous!!
