Bichon Barb, if you like Bowie, have you ever seen "The Hunger" Weird Movie.

Actually, I picture you more as a Video-Drome fan (Gotta Love Debbi Hari and her Cigarettes!

As far as fantassy goes... anything Disney, My Marriage, How about Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? I really like the Fantassy Genre.

Oh Well... I guess I should get ready for Dinner with My Brother and his new GF. We are going to a restaraunt that is marginal, but he is good friends with the owner.

See You All Around.....

:bounce:

Good night DANAUK :( , we always seem to miss each other. :( Probably because I'm NOT a late night person. LOL.

TALKISCHEAP, I have tried to sit through LOTR, but it's just not my cup of tea. :( Rob bought the latest movie as soon as it came out. That Sunday he put it on, and I lasted about a half an hour. Then I sat around reading waiting to get the TV back. LOL. That has got to be the longest movie ever made!!! I just couldn't figure out the plot. Maybe I'll give it another chance someday. The first time I saw POTC I didn't like it, but now it's grown on me. :hyper:

PS, All I need is for the TAG FAIRY to see my apology and tag me with "I am a Male Who is Female Sensitivity Impaired"

Yuk.

:bounce:

Although I LOVE Blondie, I have not seen Videodrome. I'm putting it on the list. ;) The Hunger, The Hunger...I have to ask Rob if we've seen it. I think if we did I'd remember. Putting it on the list. How old is it?

We have Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I used to have nightmares about the candyman. That guy scared the be-jeebers out of me when I was a kid.

Your myyyyy choochy ootch kootchie...

Up from the ashes! Up from the ashes! Grow the roses of success...

Love that movie!!!

Was anyone ever a Star Trek Next Generation fan? Every Sunday Rob and I would go to my sister and BIL's house to watch that. It was like church for us. LOL. Cpt. Jean Luc Pickard. Ey-yi-yi.

The Hunger (1983)

Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie are rich, beautiful, and oh-so chic as denizens of the night. Dressed in sleek outfits and stylish sunglasses, they haunt rock & roll clubs on the prowl for young blood, whom they bring home to their impossibly luxurious mansion for a late-night snack. Being a vampire never looked more sexy, but there's a price: Bowie starts to age so fast he wrinkles up in the waiting room of a doctor's (Susan Sarandon) office. The agelessly elegant Deneuve, evoking Delphine Seyrig's Countess Bathory from Daughters of Darkness, is perfectly cast as a millenniums-old bloodsucker who seeks a new mate in Sarandon and seduces her in a sunlight-bathed afternoon of smooth, silky sex. Tony Scott's (Ridley's brother) directorial debut, adapted from the Whitley Strieber novel, revises the vampire myth with Egyptian inflections and removes all references to garlic and crosses and wooden stakes--these bloodsuckers can even walk around in the daylight--but the ties between blood and sex are as strong as ever. Scott's background as an award-winning commercial director is evident in every richly textured frame and his densely interwoven editing, but the moody atmosphere comes at the expense of dramatic urgency. At times the film is so languid it becomes mired in its hazy, impeccably designed visual style. In its own way, The Hunger is the perfect vampire film for the '80s, all poise and attitude and surface beauty. Sarandon talks candidly about the film in the documentary The Celluloid Closet. --Sean Axmaker

Love it or loathe it, David Cronenberg's 1983 horror film Videodrome is a movie to be reckoned with. Inviting extremes of response from disdain (critic Roger Ebert called it "one of the least entertaining films ever made") to academic euphoria, it's the kind of film that is simultaneously sickening and seemingly devoid of humanity, but also blessed with provocative ideas and a compelling subtext of social commentary. Giving yet another powerful and disturbing performance, James Woods stars as the operator of a low-budget cable-TV station who accidentally intercepts a mysterious cable transmission that features the apparent torture and death of women in its programming. He traces the show to its source and discovers a mysterious plot to broadcast a subliminally influential signal into the homes of millions, masterminded by a quasi-religious character named Brian O'Blivion and his overly reverent daughter. Meanwhile Woods is falling under the spell, becoming a victim of video, and losing his grip--both physically and psychologically--on the distinction between reality and television. A potent treatise on the effects of total immersion into our mass-media culture, Videodrome is also (to the delight of Cronenberg's loyal fans) a showcase for obsessions manifested in the tangible world of the flesh. It's a hallucinogenic world in which a television set seems to breath with a life of its own, and where the body itself can become a VCR repository for disturbing imagery. Featuring bizarre makeup effects by Rick Baker and a daring performance by Deborah Harry (of Blondie fame) as Wood's sadomasochistic girlfriend, Videodrome is pure Cronenberg--unsettling, intelligent, and decidedly not for every taste. --Jeff Shannon

Truly scumptious, you're truly truly scrumptious...

I LOVE THAT MOVIE ... but you are right BB the kidstealing candyman dude was nightmarish ...

ohana ... YOU MAN, YOU!!!!

Guess what my beloved DH said to me last night after I'd been dealing with a 2-days PMS'ing Kelley who is nervous about leaving for camp tonight and so am I (nervous, not PMSing)
.... [I'm telling you, it has been Drama Queen City here in little Lewis Center and he just waltzed in from a peaceful day at work and immediately determines that I am overreacting to her] <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_200.gif' alt='Perturbed' border=0></a>

so ... my DH said, as we were driving to supper club ...

"Honey, I love you, but you're a hag!"

I don't think the upper limbs are getting enough sap, goils, what do you think?

After I ignored him most of the night, and after I had consumed a bottle of Chardonnay and had not 1 but 2 pieces of that yummy Cannoli Cake with Chocolate Ganache, it occurred to me that he can't help it ... he is a man and says stupid stuff sometimes.

DISCLAIMER: This is not meant to be a male-bashing comment. More a statement of fact said with a modicum of affection.

With nobody else.
And ya know when I drink alone,
I prefer to be by myself"

A little George Thoroughgood there for ya.

DH called to check in. They are on their way to a bar in the neighborhood I grew up. I asked him if they won the tournament. He said no. I told him not to bother coming home.
