I should mention this is for her 16th bday. I don't know I will thin k about that.

my dh said he can make a tiki hut and a limbo game out of bamboo. I was thinking coconut glasses - tiki torches - grass skirts- leis - palm trees - i found a cool cooler that looks like a palm tree and the base is the cooler! cool garland lights but I am terrible with being creative.

This sounds great!!!! I would say you are very creative. :thumbsup2

Hope you all had a good day.

My daughter did end up going ice fishing, but we both are not feeling 100%. We had a good day though. Now we are wiped. The dogs are lifeless too. This stupid sore throat won't go away and my constant post nasal drip does not help.

Smiley, you had some fun parties. What kinds of things did you do for graduation parties? I have to plan one of those for June.

I think I need Smileybug and cheermom to come spruce up my parties. . .

My oldest girl is better. My youngest is not. Boo is just not feeling her best, but isn't running a fever anymore. I think we'll keep her home from church tomorrow so she will feel better.

I'm glad that you and your DD did have a good day.:thumbsup2 But I bet you are even happier that the buicks are wiped!! :rotfl:

As for the parties I'm kind of embarrassed to tell ya'll that all 4 of my children had kid themed parties for their graduations. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: You should have seem the cakes. :goodvibes Lets just say...in my mind it was their 6th birthday party all over again. They all took it good naturedly though. But I guess having the pool and jacuzzi made up for mom being silly. But I gotta tell you though...we all had a blast with the jump castles.:thumbsup2 My kids have learned to expect the unexpected from me.

I'm glad your girls are better. You must be ready for life to return to that setting on your dryer............normal. :rotfl:

Lets see where to start....the party was at the house we lived in before building this house. It had a large back porch with a deck that extended out from it. Our pool was an above ground pool that we had partially sunk into the ground. (big pool 33 ft across 6-1/2 ft deep in middle. We hung icicle lights form the porch roof all the post and surrounding trees were wrapped with lights. We had tiki torches everywhere. The food tables had the grass skirt table skirts on them. All of our dishes-bowls, plates, glasses were a Hawaiian motif came from a discount store. (it was cheap) I also bought those grass beach mats at the discount store for about a $1.00 each. We scattered those around the deck. I also bought blow up decorations to float in the pool. Lets see....we had those straw hats to. I had other decorations to hang up to give it that "Hawaiian" feel also. We had balloons everywhere as well.

I think if you did a small pool and maybe a slip-n-slide that would be a lot of fun. along with the decorations.

Just be careful that your party doesn't take on a life of its own like this one did. We could have done things for less money and still had a wonderful party. Its just that once I got into the planning and buying I went overboard. But I did the same thing for graduation parties as well. We rented jump castles for each of those parties. (Momma had a hard time letting them grow up.:goodvibes )

I warned all the neighbors about the party. We shut the music off at 11:00pm and the party ended at midnight. Things went very well and the neighbors said the nose level wasn't as bad as they were expecting. But I think warning everyone and assuring them that we were there helped to keep them happy.:goodvibes

Cool sounds great

I got an idea our landlord which is my dh's ex step dad has a great yard and a pool with a deck and I was thinking of asking him if we do have it there (i know he'll say yes) but I am worried about dh's mom she won't come however I'm not sure she will even come if we have it at our house either if we do it there it will wonderful b/c they will help me! :goodvibes

1 down, 1 to go. At least the fever is gone. Maybe staying home and resting tomorrow will get her well for school Monday.

I would love a jump castle. I would have a lot of fun with it. That's a terrific idea. Wish I had more of a budget to work with. She will need a laptop for college so we are trying to make that her graduation gift. That leaves a very small budget for a party.

I wanna jump castle! Now! :sad1:

I went to the Disney store today to get a few t-shirts. (as if we need more Disney shirts). I got some cute sunglasses for the kids and some shirts (2 each).

I was thinking of getting sunglasses or flip flops for party favors - sunglasses would be cheaper but I don't know if i want to do favors?

I'm going to print invites and banners off the computer so I don't have to buy those.

i'm trying to do this on a budget on no more then 300 but less if I can but not her present I will get her 16 presents:dance3: for her to open :rotfl:

Sending her off to college prepared is the best thing you can do for her. :goodvibes

Don't forget the Dollar stores. I forgot about the leis. But that is where ours came from. I was going to do sunglasses to. Those really big goofy ones. But her party was at night.

I didn't do party favors and I really don't think anyone cared.

...one of the best parties we had for our boys was the 'carnival' party - we even gave out Japanese fighting fish as the 'goody bag'....they 'won' them by tossing ping-pong balls in the little round fish bowls....we even had a cotton-candy maker and a hot dog stand - it was way kewl!

I love kid parties and this sounds like alot of fun!! :thumbsup2

...that's one of the advantages of having kids' birthday parties in the summer....

yep hear ya my dd is in April and my ds is in June so we get some great parties with them it's great! never did the jumpy things though. but that ok my kids have always been the type to never really want a lot in the way of things like that I'm so fortunate. I have asked my ds what he wants to do for his 16th but he doesn't seem interested so it looks like this is the only one I get to plan :sad2:

My friend did a party like that for her DD last year. She got a bunch of stuffed animals from thrift stores and garage sales as prizes. It was a huge hit.

I am trying to figure out a good party for DD's 3rd next month. Since most of the kids coming are really my older girl's age, I need to find something inexpensive and good for all of the kids.

I'm getting a complex.....I miss one day here and you guys post FOUR pages...... (kimmar is gonna run with that one I just know it...)

We went to Boston yesterday. We spent the afternoon at the New England Aquarium which was a lot of fun. The penguins are a riot. It was super crowded (end of MA school vacation week) but we still got to see just about everything.

When we first got to Boston we walked through Quincy Market on our way to the aquarium - the main building has food shops inside and is flanked on either side by indoor/outdoor (depending on the season) retail carts with all sorts of neat stuff. Since it was windy and brisk yesterday, we headed for the inside where we could warm up and get a bite for lunch. What was the first thing to greet me as I walked in the door?......

Starbucks!!

I took a few pics yesterday which I'll post later on after I get them loaded into my bucket!

Meanwhile we're bracing for another snow storm..... At least the kids have no school this week.

.

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes

LegoMom...sounds like ya'll did have a great day yesterday. I would love to do something like that.

Mean Queen....have you found your 80's prom wear yet?
