Hey SadieDog. I hope your headache is starting to get better.

You weren't being ridiculous for asking her to call home. I still at times (depending on where she is going) ask my DD to do the same thing and she has been driving for 3 years.

Thanks. I would do the same thing for long drives even after a few years. Say for instance she was home and had to drive a few hours back to college, I would say "call me when you get there." My best friend and I do it when traveling home after we visit. We say to each other "call me so I know you got home safe."

Smileybug, you're messin' with my head..... One ticker??? Were there not two yesterday??!

Pouring rain here today.

And on that happy thought I'm off to work....

.

SadieDog, I will probably ask my children to "call when you get there" until I'm 80. You were totally not out of line.

Moms: Congrats on paying your trip off! I'm paying mine Aug 30. Which just so happens to be my b-day. Guess what my b-day present is this year. . .

LegoMom: Your ticker is going to be announcing days until your trip soon. We have a spring trip in the planning stage right now, but as we won't make the ressies until September, I won't be putting it up.

Does anyone know anything about the cabins in Fort Wilderness? We are thinking of them. Since dd9 will be 10, we definitely don't think the DDP will be worth it. A cabin with a kitchen might be nice in that instance. We loved having a kitchen when we went to the beach this year. I'd change to the cabins right now if I could swing it. Does anyone know how easy it would be to change ressies to another location when 3/4 of the trip is paid for?

I always wanted to stay in one of the cabins. We tent camped when we stayed there. The cabins seem to take a lot of the camping work out of the mix.

That calls for celebration.

:woohoo: :yay:    :yay: :woohoo:

Now it feels real! Woohoo.. Not that all the planning and dreaming and all should not have... but you know....

Yes you can. But it uses a lot of points. When you use points for a room, it's one set of points for the room. When you use them for a cruise, you use points for each person. Some people use points for the first 2 people, then pay cash for the next 2. Since we go to WDW so often, it's not worth it for us to use the points for a cruise. But many people do get a good deal from doing that.

That is good to know. We have only done something Disney one time a year but it has always been a major trip. We cruise category 2 as we travel with 4 boys and need the room and such. Not sure about all of it but I might check into it. I really don't know anything about timeshares.

Mornin'

I woke up with an awful sinus headache. After I do my stuff, it should get better. Until then, I will try to ignore it.

So my daughter took my car to her friends house last night to spend the night. She is coming back this morning. Figured I could do without the car over night. I told her to call me when she got there. I waited and waited and no call. I tried calling her cell twice and she didn't pick up. At this point, I start feeling uncomfortable. I didn't have either friends new cell #'s so I had to call a Mom and ask her to call her daughter and tell my daughter to call home. She called a minute later. She forgot to call. UGH Simple request - CALL WHEN YOU GET THERE. Her friends were hiding on her and in her search, she forgot to call.

She thought I was being ridiculous asking her to call when she got to her destination. She has only had her license for a week. Doesn't seem like it's asking too much.

I would have asked she call too. I am not looking foward to that point in parenthood. My son has a permit still so he has to have an adult with him. So scarey.

I hope you all have a great day. I have a list of things I am supposed to get done today. I just read over it again and nowhere does it say Dis. It should though...who else understands the love of Disney.

Yeah, I'd venture to say that camping is not for me. :lmao: I'd hate to see makeup, acrylic nails, and high heels putting up a tent (not really, but I am more comfortable in all of those).

Well it was not my favorite Disney trip. The campgrounds were absolutely wonderful. We were traveling with 4 kids as my nephews lived with me and my youngest was under 2 years old and the oldest child was 11. So we would do the parks all day and then head back to the tentsite and my husband would take the kids to the pool or this or that and I would be stuck getting dinner done and preparing for morning and all that. I was dead tired. Then showers were an issue as i had to take all the kids with me since we were worried of the boys going alone and such. Then we had a torrential rain storm and one of the boys had left the sky roof open on the tent for ventilation.... we came back and I unzipped the tent and watched a wave of water come rolling out. Everything we had was drenched and we headed to a hotel for the night and packed up and left the next day. So if it was not for a cabin, I would not be the one doing it again. LOLOL

Hey LegoMom!! There were two tickers yesterday. Adding that second one made me feel claustrophobic. :confused3 So I removed it and will put it back up when we get back from the Dec trip.

Hello to the rest of you,

....and I'm BAAACK!!!

Work called just before I was getting ready to go with a last-minute day-off call!

So now I can DIS all day and keep the coffee pot a-brewin'! :rotfl: Well, I can't DIS all day, but for a while this morning anyway.

Got my coffee, got my Rope Drop Music playing....Life is good. :goodvibes

I would love to have a complete review of the cabins. I keep looking at them. The camp ground is beautiful. Sigh.... Just yesterday I was telling hubby that we needed to buy a camper. I grew up going camping and loved it. I miss it. Of course we tent camped back then and that wouldn't work for me now. I have fibromyalgia and Osteo Arthritis. So sleeping on the ground would be a NO-NO.

creativeamanda, I too would love to stay in a cabin. The full kitchen would come in handy to have a big breakfast in the morning. We would def use it and save $ on food. Some people don't like the fact that they only have 1 bathroom, but I only have 1 bathroom at home so that's not an issue to me. I have no idea how difficult it is to change your ressie, but I hear people do it all the time.

Here is a link to some Fort photos - it includes quite a few of the cabins, inside and out:
http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/g_ftw.htm

And, here is some general info on them:
http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_fw.htm

Scroll down past the first box with camp site info and you'll get a whole bunch of stuff on the cabins (including an exhaustive list of what's included!).

I love the Fort and can't wait to stay there again...:lovestruc

It isn't. You gave her a cell phone, you gave her your car, it doesn't take but a minute to say "Hey, not dead. Talk to you later!"

I don't think the points would be a good way to pay for a cruise for your family then. But it would be a great way to stay at Disney, since you probably need the bigger rooms. Then later, when the kids are not vacationing with you, you could use the points for a nice cruise for you and DH. Or let the kids borrow the points for a nice vacation. When you go for MNSSHP, take the tour. They will come pick you up and drop you back off after the tour. The models are at Saratoga. I'll give you my guides name, if you'd like. She's a really nice lady from England. She's used to know it all's from the DIS. :rolleyes1

That's why they invented luxury blow up mattresses. I'd never sleep on the floor. I'm not a huge camping fan, but I like Disney camping.

Have a good day off! I'm thinking of making a Starbucks run. I've been so good lately about limiting myself. Those mochas are not good for my Weight Watchers.

PM with that info. If we did end up buying do you get anything if we give your name? My DP who is usually the one I have to convince has already said if we get a bounceback she wants to go. LOL And so the curse of Disney goes on and on and on. LOl

It's always nice when your partner also appreciates the Disney magic. ;) Or shares in the obsession like mine does. I PM'd you the other info. DVC is not a hard sell place. They said 80% of the people who buy, do so after going back home and working the numbers.
