Hi all...

I've had quite an evening. DS11 had a run-in with a neighborhood kid. As a mom I've never felt quite "right" about this kid; maternal instinct or what I don't know, but we've had problems with him on and off for the last year or so. When things are going well I try to let them all play together, because our neighborhood is isolated and you hate to take away the ability to play with the only other kids around. But tonight I've put my foot down and it's all over. I didn't see the incident in question, but I was within ear-shot so I heard enough to piece it all together, and I have no reason to doubt what my son is saying. He's a mischeivous kid and I'm not one of these moms who just automatically sides with her kids, thinking they never do wrong (yeah, right!!!...:rotfl: ). Anyway, my son was on his bike, the chain fell off so he pulled over to fix it, this kid was nearby, came over and pushed my son over and off the bike, pushed him to the ground and started grabbing his neck and hitting him! My son came home absolutely covered in sand and grit and you could see where he'd been grabbed.... Fortunately this kid is smaller and weaker than DS11 so he wasn't really hurt, but he was shaken up. One minute these two are riding bikes and playing together, the next he's getting beaten up. WTH????!!!!!

I just want to say that's it's reeeeally hard to talk to your kid after something like that, and talk calmly to him and try to explain stuff and let him know that getting back at the other kid is not the answer, when you want to walk outside and beat the livin' snot outta the little brat yourself!!!:rotfl2:

Sorry for being so long-winded! Wow, between the air-horn-bear-chasing neighbor and the bratty kid, y'all must either think I really live in East Overshoe or that I just can't get along with people....

It's not me, I swear!!!:confused3

LegoMom, sorry about the rough night. I get worked up too when something like that happens. Do you know the parents?

It is amazing how our mama bear instincts can kick in and make you want to beat the living snot out of a child. You know it's wrong, but you just feel the need to protect your child and get a little justice. I think it's a good decision to not allow them to play together.

Love that Florida weather. We had a huge quick storm at our house today. DH comes home and asks how the mulch got all over the place. It didn't rain a bit at his work. Up here, there's standing water everywhere it rained so hard and quick.
Yeah..it rains on one side of the street and not the other. :confused3

The parents are basically "absentee" parents. Hardly ever home. The kid is "watched" by his 13 yr. old brother most of the time. Which explains a lot.... On Mother's Day - Mother's Day! - the parents were gone ALL day on their motorcycles. During the week, they work all day, then come home and go out and ride the bikes. We've actually kind of tried to step in and "be there" for this kid, but we've just had too much trouble and today put the final nail in the coffin. He's got deeper problems than we can even begin to fix, so I feel it's time to step back and maintain some distance.

So, will there be a scrolling tag bestowed upon some lucky DISer tonight?!

That was kind of you to try to be there for the kid. There is only so much you can do. I think you made a good decision for your son's sake.

Good Night. Time for me to go watch Hell's Kitchen.

I just posted this on the Scrolling Tag thread, but you guys being my closest friends here, it deserves another mention....

I dreamed last night that I got tagged again! It was dark blue but I don't have any recall as to what it said. It also had a neat little character of some sort next to it, but despite all that??....it still wasn't scrolling!!:rotfl2:

How sad is that, that I'm now dreaming of tags....

Well I'm working again today so I'll be back later! Smileybug hope you have a better day...

Have a good day at work!

Mary

Smileybug, how are you doing? You are usually on by now saying good morning. Last night you said it had been one of those days so hoping things are going ok for you. :goodvibes

Hey ya'll!!!!! Can anyone see my splat??? I think the TF should put a scrolling tag where my splat (that no one can see) is. :thumbsup2 ::yes::

Wouldn't it totally make your day if someone here got a scrolling tag? Better yet, wouldn't it totally make your day if someone here got a scrolling tag with a quote from this thread? ::yes::

ETA: Mean Queen - I love your siggie with the David Cook pics/clips. I thought he was awesome (a.k.a. HOT) in that commercial.
