Those of us who are total princesses...cough, cough, ahem, yours truly, cough...appreciate this the most.

I love the idea of camping. As long as the bugs and I reach an understanding - you don't come near me and I won't step on you.

And as much as I don't mind sleeping in a tent even, I can't be without 'facilities'. A toilet and shower, in particular.

So, until the forest starts to flush, this princess will be at the motel down the road. ;)

Oh, and good morning all.

Off to celebrate my dad's gradumacation at breakfast with my family. I hope you all have a great day!

:flower3:

A princess after my own heart!! Have fun at daddy's graduation breakfast!!

Not so much. It's turned into a clean the house and get laundry done day. :laundy:

Wanna race. I'm going to be doing the same thing.

I have to admit camping in the middle of the woods got a lot more complicated when kids came.

I don't have any plans for today. My DD told me last night she needed help with an English project. I have no idea what that meant. She is still sleeping. All I know is that it is due tomorrow and she said it will take a long time. Guess what she will be doing most of the day?

I love how our darling children drop things on us at the last minute and expect us to "fix" things for them. :rolleyes1

Wow what a busy Sunday morning on this thread!

The Dish guy is here right now trying to restore harmony and order to my world of TV....:rotfl: We ended up losing the HD channels again after that brief interlude, so the antenna definitely needs a reset. He pulled up the diagnostic screen on the TV and sure enough, it showed a "missing satellite!"

Not planned for my day. I need to catch up on some house cleaning (the dust bunnies are starting to come out of hiding...:scared: ) and I would like to work on my garden (it's windy so that will keep the #@!% Black flies away! (<--- HA!!...I put the "@" in my "cuss" and it underlined it as if it were an e-mail address!.....).

I will probably also spend some time with my PassPorter and filling in some planning details!

I will not, however, have anything for breakfast as yummy as Tinkerellabella will have at The Barn....:rolleyes1

I'm so glad the dish guy is there to provide harmony to your viewing needs once again. (TV that is:lmao: ) I'm getting ready to pull out the Disney planning bag of goodies myself. I think we are going in late Feb. or early March. I need a serious break from this house. It has completely consumned our lives for over a year now. I can't wait for the new PassPorter to come out. :goodvibes Waiting until Oct. is going to be hard.

Wanna race. I'm going to be doing the same thing.

I see you're on the DIS avoiding work too. :lmao: I actually have to get laundry done before our trip to WDW next weekend. We're staying at the Villas of Wilderness Lodge for the first time. We are doing the DDP. I have reservations at Yak & Yeti and Le Cellier. Though DH is hesitant about Yak & Yeti because it has the word "yak" in it. He thinks that's just not a good sign for a restaurant. :rotfl:

I've often thought the same thing!! Am I really supposed to want to eat there!?!....:rotfl2: It just doesn't bode well for a restaurant!!

I can't wait to hear your reviews on the Yak & Yeti. Ya'll are going to love the Wilderness Lodge. It's our favorite resort.:thumbsup2

Aren't you staying at the Port Orleans on your next trip? I think we will stay there our next time. Tell me everything there is to know about it. It sounds like such a beautiful place. And the food court sounds great. We have gotten so used to watching every penny since we started building this house. It is just a way of life now. :thumbsup2 And it actually feels good!! :goodvibes Especially since we are still paying two mortgages. :scared1:

Oh, and by the way Mean Queen...I would rather Dis than clean house anytime of the day. I've just learned the hard way that there are things I had better stay on top of. Or they bite me in the hiney.:lmao:

Nothing much. I did laundry and the dishes so I'm going to take it easy today. :thumbsup2

I have to get all of my weekly cleaning done today. I have to have a Colonoscopy on tuesday and tomorrow is the prep day. :scared1: I seem to need a day after these test to get the meds out of my system. They make me sick. :sad2:

I know after ya'll read that I'm having a colonoscopy that you all wish you were me!! :lmao:

Um...how much time do you have?! :rotfl:

No, seriously, I could talk POR aaallll day. However, I'll try to give you the abridged version, but if you like coffee or tea, now might be a good time to pour a cup!

We stayed at POR for the first time in '06, because we "had" to. Our youngest was now over 3, so Values were all done for us (except for 2 rooms, which still costs more than POR). Well, we fell in love with it and it is now our favorite resort! DH and are planning a no-kids 20th anniversary trip (in 4 years!) and we still want to stay at POR. We'll stay at a Mansions building, though (they only hold 4 people so we can't stay there now). They are SO romantic and the landscaping is lush and gorgeous.

I've jumped a bit ahead here, so let me back up. POR has two sections - Alligator Bayou and the Mansions. AB has two-story buildings and are supposed to seem more rustic. Many of those rooms have a trundle bed for a 5th person, which is why we stay there. There are also "quiet pools" near each building, which are just smaller pools away from the main pool on Ol Man Island (another nice feature of POR - the pool and pool bar and hot tub and playground are on an island, away from the buildings/rooms). The quiet pools tend to not be so busy.

The Mansions buidlings are built like the Old South. Sweeping staircases with wrought-iron railings, pillars on the front, very stately in appearance. The furnishings there are elegant and the whole place is just dripping with romanticism!! At least one building has a fountain in front.

You have probably read negative reports here on the DIS from people who think POR is too spread out and it takes forever to walk anywhere. It IS spread out, but I don't think anything is inconvenient. All paths eventually lead to the main building with the big waterwheel on it! That's the food court, bar, main lobby and gift shop. I actually liked walking around and in the mornings when I get up early to go fill our mugs with coffee, I take the long way around and follow the river just to take in all the scenery (I also lost weight by doing that, despite being on Free Dining!!).

The food court has been remodeled since we were there, but I don't think there were any real major changes. The food is good and the bakery is particularly yummy! There's a little bit of every thing to be found there. There's lots of seating and you can see the inner workings of the water wheel. There is also outside seating if the weather is nice!....right on the water.

Some of the recreaction at POR includes renting boats, surrey bikes, or taking a horse-drawn carriage ride (REALLY cool at night!!) around the grounds. There is also a boat that you can take right to Downtown Disney! It's a neat ride (again, really cool at night) and a relaxing way to get there. It stops at POFQ, too, so you can hop it over that resort if you want to use their pool (which IS allowed!) or try their bakery...:rolleyes1

Now, buses at POR: NOT the nightmare I've read so much about. At least not in our experience! There are several bus stops all around the resort, so depending on where you are, you just find the closest one to you. We were in Bldg. 34 and the West Depot was just a short path away, which was real nice at the end of a long day, to get off the bus and have our room so close! If it gets busy, they add more buses and separate Riverside from French Quarter. Of course, if you drive down and use your own car, it's a moot point.

Here are a couple of links so you can see for yourself how beautiful this place is!

I just got off the phone and have us booked into the French Quarter. Should I call back and change? I love the idea of the Mansions buildings. :goodvibes What can you tell me about French Quarter?

Absolutely nothing!! :scared1: Well, not "nothing" but we've never stayed there.

What I do know is that it's a smaller resort, more compact, so if you prefer that then it's the better choice. There isn't as much landscaping and from what I've seen, it's more buildings and less grounds. It has the New Orleans feel/theme, of course, so it just has a different flavor altogether than Riverside.

I can't say whether or not you should change! It's a highly personal choice and even though I love Riverside, FQ might be more to your liking! Have you taken a look at any of the pics on those sites?? Might help you decide!

--------------

ETA: I just took a look at the FQ pics on the first link I gave you. It's pretty nice, but just "different" from Riverside. It'll all depend on what your style is!

I think I'm going to change. I made a mistake. So I should ask for the Mansions?

Sorry about hi-jacking the thread ya'll.:goodvibes

Yuck...good luck to you. :flower3:

Try posting on the "Has anyone seen the tag fairy?" thread. That's where I got mine. There seems to be intermittent tagging fits that go on there from time to time. The Tag Fairy actually posts there sometimes.

You seem to say a lot of taggable things (IMHO, and meant in a very good way) so I bet you can get yourself one over there. It might take a few days, but I am sure you could get one.

Mary

Well, I guess that is a plan. I will have to find time to catch up over here and then go stalk the tag fairy. I think he/she is missing out not coming here though... we have the best Dis'ers around on this thread. They do not know what they are missing.

Tinkerbellarella! Congrats to your dad!!! That is wonderful. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
