First of all, congratulations, DO! So happy for you all.

Second, have you ever noticed how quiet it is here on Saturdays? Interesting. . .

I'm going to work on my PTR and TR for a little bit and then go to Walmart to get school supplies for the kids. The lists are not bad this year, but I don't have the list for the 5th grader yet.

2nd grader:
5 3-prong folders
#2 Yellow pencils
2 packs wide ruled paper
1 poly 2-pocket folder for homework
5 wide ruled marble notebooks
pencil bag
bookbag
wish list: air freshner, 1 pack 40 piece erasers from Dollar Tree, gallon size Ziploc bags

3rd grader:
5 Pocket folders with prongs
1 One-inch 3-ring binder for math
1 5-subject wide ruled notebook
3 large pink erasers
1 3-hole pencil bag
pencil sharpener with cover
clipboard
highlighter
wish list: 2 packs of pencils for class supply, clorox wipes, air freshener, hand wipes, gallon size ziploc bags

I honestly don't think it's too bad--I've seen much worse.

When I was little I loved school supply time. Brings back memories ...
Times have changed a lot since then. We never used binders and notebooks in elementary.

Speaking of binders/ notebooks - who remembers Trapper Keepers? I wanted one so badly but never got it.

They still make Trapper Keepers--I use them for my Disney Binders. :rolleyes1

Students are asked not to bring them, though in our schools. Don't know why.

I thought I lucked up with the youngest two. . .the 5th grader, however :scared1:. I couldn't believe the list--it wasn't out of the ordinary, but wondered why the three teachers couldn't get together and put everything together:

Math:
1 inch 3 ring binder
1 pack dividers
pencils
loose leaf paper
color pencils
pens (blue or black)
graph paper

Language Arts:
Notebook paper
pencils
folders with rings
red ink pens
2- 2 pocet folders
blue or black ink pens

Science/Social Studies:
2 5-subject notebooks
pencils
loose leaf paper
blue or black ink pens
folders
color pencils
one pack of dividers

The last one I don't get--why do they need dividers if they don't have a 3-ring binder?

I went ahead and got everything, and thinking the science/ss teacher left something off, went ahead and got another 3-ring binder. Total cost at Walmart today for three kids' school supplies? $74.36. Glad it was tax-free weekend. I wonder what parents who are living in poverty do. . .I have no problems buying it for my kids, but man, I worry about others.

DD & I did get some school supplies for her. We are still waiting for the letter from her teacher.

Good morning, everyone!

Happy Monday!

All this talk of school supplies makes me want to go buy some No. 2 pencils, I swear! :lmao:

DO, congrats on that exam! Good for you! :goodvibes

Hey ya'll. :goodvibes

I can't believe that the start of school is just around the corner. Where did summer go? :confused3

Do.....CONGRATULATIONS!! :banana::banana::banana:

Hello all!
I'm just recovering from the birthday party weekend. We did a sleepover Friday with one girl, the party Saturday afternoon, followed by a sleepover with 3 friends.

Tomorrow is the birthday. But that's just gifts and dinner with family.

The party turned out really great! For anyone with girls, it was a huge hit. I planned a Mall Scavenger Hunt. We separated the girls into two teams. One was DD's best friends and the other was DD and her school/camp friends she doesn't see as much. I wrote up clues for each team to follow with tasks to do. For example, DD's team got "Here you are the star, but it'll cost you more than a buck. Make sure you don't get any coffee in your cup." Then I wrote the task was to get a tall frappuccino for each kid. The other team got a task to go to Justice (formerly Limited Too). They had to try on outfits they thought DD would like and take fashion shots. They also picked up a gift card for her. Some tasks were the same, like the bungee jump/swing thing. But each task had an envelope with the clue and the money for the task. The last task took them to the cookie store for a big cookie cake. We opened presents in the food court and all the goodies we got on the hunt were the goody bag gifts for the friends. I got the idea from the internet last year, just like with the candy buffet. :thumbsup2

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes

Mean Queen....the party sounds like a huge success. :thumbsup2

We have a few days of high temps. :sad2: Then we are supposed to drop back into the upper 80's.

Mean Queen and creativeamanda....I hate to say it, but......its time to start watching the tropics. Looks like its starting to get a little active out there. Do any of you know where in Texas Legomom moved to? Hopefully it isn't on the coast. Well, enough of my chatty stuff. I hope you all have a great day.

Hello everyone. Hope the week is going well. I switched things around so i'm going home a week early! more time with my mom and sister and more time to pack :faint: Have a good tuestday :)

Morning, everyone!

Wow, Mean Queen! If I ever have a girl, I'm coming to you for party ideas! That sounds like it was so much fun, and a great way to keep them all occupied that whole time. :thumbsup2

I thought that I would be going back to work on Tues. the 25th. I decided to ask my supervisor when we were supposed to come back. He said Mon. the 24th. I just lost a day of vacation...........:sad1::sad:

That stinks!

Our school goes back on the 25th. So I have to switch my work days around to be home since camp is out after this Friday. I'm actually not looking forward to school starting up. With DD10 in camp, I could be late picking her up. But when she's at school, I have to get her by 3:20 or else. Though school is free and camp is not. That will be nice to not have to pay for that.

Well, ya'll I would say sorry I was MIA, but we haven't left tha page! What's up with that? Mean Queen, so glad you had a great birthday party for your daughter--it sounds wonderful!

I've been busy trying to get everything together for the first day of school next week. Last night I was so tired, I went to bed at 6pm. Tomorrow night is Open House. Thursday night is the football Jamboree (hoping for no rain), and Friday night I'm taking dd10 shopping. For makeup. :scared1: DH asked me when I started wearing makeup and I remembered--I was in the 5th grade because that was the year I went to private school. :headache:

Hopefully I'll get to update the trip report soon as the pictures are in photobucket. I just can't make my mind concentrate after being at work all day.

The kids start Aug. 26. I'm not understanding why us aides, sorry ParaProfessionals, have to come in on Monday. In years past we came in the day before school started.

Mean Queen, Happy Birthday to your daughter! :bday: The party sounded great. What a fun idea.

I had a busy last couple days. Sunday 14 of us went to The Hero's of Woodstock Concert. :hippie: We arrived in the field at 11:30am and didn't leave to go home until 9:45pm. Man was I tired yesterday and last night I went to a seminar on Autism with the childcare lady. We were supposed to go again next Monday but the woman doing the seminar WON a FREE WEEK TRIP to DISNEY. Wouldn't that be wonderful?

It's 12:47, I'm tired, BUT I CAN'T SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARRRGH!!!!!!!! I hate it when this happens.

At least I can be the first that says good morning.:banana::laughing:

Edit: The time is off. It is not 11:47, it is 12:47.

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes Especially to the early birds.

Hope you all have a good day. I have to run erands today. Then there is always cleaning and laundry. Why is that? :confused3 Whenever I manage to get to the bottom of the laundry hamper, I always want to hide it. :rotfl:
