Hi everyone. It looks like my dad needs my help moving out his wife's things so I will be spending August in Washington. I'm going to miss my mom and sister a lot but I told him that if he needed anything I would help him.

You are a wonderful daughter. He is very lucky.

On a similar note, DH is going out to pick up our new-used stove today....Not that I wanted to spend money on a new appliance when I'm about to leave, but you also can't really sell a house with faulty equipment, kwim? The one we have now "works" but the digital temperature read-out is ka-put so you don't know what temp it is!! The one we're getting has a good old-fashioned dial.

Can I have your old stove? Thursday night mine decided to die. It won't heat; it just keeps turning itself off. The 2 large burners can be difficult to keep going too. They like to shut off in the middle of use. It can be very frustrating. No cooking or baking for me. I only have burners, a microwave which is on it's last leg and a grill. This should be interesting.

It's at our local American Legion so pretty casual. Hmmmm, good question, I'm not sure what I am wearing. I wish I had a pair of casual black pants. I will probably borrow a shirt from my daughter as I don't have a lot to choose from. I see a dozen or so of them on a regular basis b/c we are still in the small town we grew up in. My good friend who was in my class and my cousin live together and have a baby. I always enjoy being with them and they are going tonight.

Well even if I was close enough, you wouldn't want it!....can't cook with it either because you can't see the temperature reading!!

Have you looked on craigslist?? You'd be surprised what you can find there for real cheap. We found this "new" stove on there, and the best deal I ever got was back in NH, I found a trampoline for the boys for $35!!! Brand new they're well over $200 and so most folks want to sell their used ones for at least $100 (usually more).

Anyway, just a thought!

Okay, ladies, take note of my new ticker. Although TK says she can't keep up with me. Wughevah. Anyway, I'm going the first few days in October (1-5) for free dining. This is a solo trip--dh crushed the feelings of mean-mommy-itis for not taking the kids by this being my combination 13th anniversary (Aug 3) and 35th bday present (Aug 30). This gives me time to plan (2 months--YIKES!) and time to get the class I teach 1/2 day settled for the 3 days I'll be gone.

So, here's my ? for Mean Queen: this is my packing list for clothes--am I way off?
5 t-shirts
1 tank top
4 pairs of shorts
2 pairs of capris
1 lightweight jacket
1 pair of jeans
1 pair tennis shoes
1 pair crocs
1 pair flip flops
2 pairs undies for each day
2 pairs socks for each day
1 bra for each day
1 set pjs
1 swimsuit
1 swimsuit coverup

Am I way off base?
