Tag Question--various ways to get a tag

I was wondering how many tags are given to people who basically request or hint for themselves VS how many are requested by someone else VS how many are given randomly by the TF to someone who has said something clever or funny.

I'm assuming that most are not random, but I could be wrong (it's happened once or twice in my life ) and that most are given from tag fairy threads. I recently did a request for another poster, which was granted by the TF.

Both of mine came compeltely unexpected. The first came when I was talking to another mom on the family boards and the second came explaining who/what the tag fairy was.

I wliked my tags I had but I llike change every once in a while so I am starting over. If I get tagged, that would be great...or I can change it myself.

My currents ones were all given after hanging around threads that TFs are known to frequent--ie, ones at least discussing tag fairies. I didn't really hint, but made comments about the tag fairy, hence my "evil" references. lol All in fun.

I'm hoping to eventually get a totally surprise tag.

Requesting a tag for someone (who I don't know, just liked her black tag that she'd made and asked for it to be colorized) was as much fun as getting my own tag!

I got both of mine totally unexpectantly. Now I think the TFs are so busy giving them out to the hinters and beggars that us quiet ones never get anymore! LOL!

I think you're right. When I was quiet (we're talking years of quiet, which was very hard for noisy me ) I didn't have a tag. Now that I've gotten more vocal I have them. You know what they say about the squeaky wheel!

My first one was completely unexpected, although it did come about after I posted in the "Tag Fairy Question" thread ~ I don't think I was begging, or even asking. The second one came out of nowhere ~ I was bored as I usually am, and posted a "Someone do something interesting" thread. The third, I did kind of "beg" for, actually more like hinted for - not for the tag itself, but for the return of the tag. I had it for about 10 seconds and then it was gone ~ what can I say? I missed it

cvemom - I think you need over 100 posts to be tag eligible. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Mine is a surprise tag based on the who do you have a secret crush on thread. Maybe in the future, post in stuff like that and who knows.

I had one of my tags on since I had joined and the TF was very nice and had colored that one and had given me my gardening tag which I really like.

Both of ours were a WONDERFUL SURPRISE!!!!! I MAY have said PLEASE ,,,a few times REAL NICE!!!! AND THEN we had our GENERIC ONE--LOVE IT,,,,,then one night,,just SINGIN and DANCING around the boards AND WHAM!!!!!!

Hmm . . . funny you say that, I have no idea but I do remember getting DIS Vet status, reaching 100 posts and getting my first tag all in the same week. Not sure, but for some reason I think I got the tag before 100 posts, maybe you have to be a "Vet" to get tagged , then again I'm pretty sure I've seen a few "newbies" w/tags

Mine were also a surprise -- especially when I got them back to back. The greatest thing about the Tag Fairies is you never know where or when they might find you. Be patient...everyone is "Tag-ilicous" or they wouldn't be on these boards.

I'll admit to being a newbie, not sure how many posts I had, and just loving the tag fairies...

Mine came as a total surprise, dont even remember where I posted, but remember I am a newbie, I couldnt figure out what all the pixie dust was, I had to plan fast for our upcoming trip, and thought I needed to go to the mall and pick up some glitter so dd would have pixie dust.... it was a real moment... and the tag fairy picked up on that... so I LOVE my tag, and I love the tag fairies, one would think they are too busy to spread so much joy, but they find the time, and I just love reading people's tags now...

and I'm amazed that that tag fairy thread has 1400 posts!!

Go tag fairies, go tag fairies...

Cvemom, you could go over to the tech board and get one one for yourself! Otherwise, just keep posting away and someday, the Tag Fairy will get a giggle out of something you said and you will get a pleasant surprise under your name!
