We are a family of six (2 connecting staterooms) and we would like to dine at a table just for us six. It's not that we're anti-social, but we just want to enjoy our family time together (it's so limited). Will we be put with tablemates? If so how do we communicate to DCL that we'd like to eat alone?

Give DCL a call and request that your family be put at a table for six. You will also need your ressie number when you call.

Meeting new friends at dinner has been a hightlight of all of our cruises. We have sat with families from across the country and around the world. We were at the "Big" table once with 4 other families. It was one of the most fun times we had on the cruise.

We always request our own table for four. But, the way the dining rooms set up, we always end up close to others and end up meeting them anyway. We have since cruised again with one of these "close but not actually tablemates". I think it's the best of both worlds.

We have been on two 7 day DCL cruises , we are a family of 5. We have still kept in touch with our tablemates. I have wondered how they pair up families. It is not by Catagory because sailed catagory 4 on both cruises and our mates where from lower catagories ( deck 2 and people from an inside stateroom ). We sat with a family from Canada on our first cruise then with a family from Ireland on our second. I have a feeling they match up the children rather than the adults.

We have always had really great table mates...I wouldn't be upset if we had dinner with only or family, but I like tablemates too! On my next cruise it will be my parents, my sister, and three small girls...(6,4 and 3). I would feel BAD for our tablemates this time!!!
