La Hacienda is AMAZING! A true hidden gem in my opinion- everyone always talks about how bad San Angel Inn is, but La Hacienda is legit so so good and no one ever talks about it! Food is great and there's a great view of the lagoon (lake?) too. Plus fresh margaritas from la cava de tequila! Can't recommend enough, you should definitely give it a try! My recs: short rib entree or taco trio entree!
Everyone seems to dislike San Angel Inn, but we've always enjoyed our meals there and love the atmosphere. I always get the chicken mole poblano as it's hard to find a Mexican place with good mole sauce where we live. (If you're allergic to nuts, don't get this dish!). We have not been to La Hacienda yet, so I can't compare the 2.
Facing the same issue here. The Table Service we really wanted to try are all closed (Chefs de France, Teppan Edo, Restaurant Marakesh) and Mexico makes sense late in the day if we start at the other side of the park. Glad you posted this and am interested in the responses.
La Hacienda, to me, is more a true Mexican (vs Tex-Mex) meal. We also love San Angel, but more for the memories than the food. The food is good (and I second the mole recommendation), but better at La Hacienda.
I prefer La Hacienda. It's food quality is better, flavors more interesting, and under normal circumstances, the tables are not as close together as San Angel. so I like the atmosphere better. HOWEVER - if you are traveling with a group that really prefers American Tex-Mex - go with San Angel instead.
Always thought the food at La Hacienda was much better than San Angel.
Loved the atmosphere at San Angel, but the tables were SO close together. However, now that should be changed, at least for a while.
My family prefers San Angel, so I'd stick with your daughter here. One of the worst meals in Disney I've ever had was at Hacienda. True, it was years ago, but they're not getting another chance with my family.
La Hacienda has very good food, the inside of the restaurant is lovely, and you can see what you're eating. There is one potential drawback - unless things have changed quite recently, Tables in Wonderland is not accepted for a discount, and you can't get a break with an AP.
DH and I love La Hacienda. We always order Del Mar.......we think it is amazing good! We ask for a booth when we check in and have always received one. The booth gives us more room and separation from other diners. Outstanding margaritas and great service.
We like San Angel Inn. It has such nice atmosphere, in the faux Mexican villsge right next to the water. The food is fine: not awesome, but not at all bad, either. Typical Disney dining in that regard.
I like both (my boyfriend liked Inn, but not Hacienda). Each offers a few items that aren't ubiquitous. We eat a ton of Mexican food at home, so it's nice to have options that are a little bit different.
Some people like to clown the Caesar salad served at Inn, but that's one of the signature dishes from the original San Angel Inn location in Mexico City.
We tried San Angel Inn and had a surprisingly delicious meal ( I had read the reviews but my husband insisted that we try it ). The menu is basic and I wouldn't call it authentic but it was delicious. The atmosphere was also worth the stop.
