T-rex. Yes or no?

We took my son, neice, and nephews with ages ranging from 8 months to 5 years and all the kids loved it (well the baby was indifferent, but certainly not scared or bothered by it all).

I honestly can't remember much about the food, it must have been fine.

They loved the excavation site where they got to dig in the sand, we let them pan for gold/rocks (you buy a bag of fancy rocks and they get to 'discover' them when panning) and my son chose to spend some souvenir money on a geode that he got to help crack in half himself and still keeps it in his treasure box several years later.

You know your kids best of course, so you can determine whether or not loud dinosaur noises might be scary or exciting. Depending on when you go and how in-demand reservations might be you could always go in and check it out then decide.

I personally like the food at T-Rex. It isn't fine dining, but the kids love the place.

The noise does get to me.

We really enjoyed the food there. Granted we had burgers but they were good none the less. The atmosphere was really neat.

DS has some sensory issues so I DON'T think that t-Rex with all the LOUDness will be a good option.

Our son also has sensory issues. But his love of Dinosaurs trumped the loud noise. That being said...we have been a few times (because of said love) and we are all set. The food is *meh* at best..a few times it was actually bad. Yes the portions are huge, but who wants a lot of *meh*? The experience is pretty cool. The gift shop is impressive (shocking ;)) and they have a cool dig site outside. If you know your kids will love the atmosphere, I would say give it a try and split a few meals to save some $$. If you are looking for yummy food @ DTD (other than Raglan Road) , our favorite is WPE. :)

I had some really tasty ribs there last October. My 4 yr old nephew and twin 6 year old nieces were not bothered by the dinosaurs or noise. The 4 yr old was a hoot to watch.

T-Rex is a must do for our DS7 for the last three years. He absolutely loves it and requests a different area each time we go so he can try them all.

The food is fine...no better or worse than most of the offerings around WDW (save for a few restaurants at the resorts & Epcot that step up their game). For us, the idea is to let DS enjoy it...I don't mind having a mediocre meal if he's making a memory. He's a great sport when we make him tag along to fancier places we like, so we're happy to let him bring us to a few of his favorites too.

I am likely in the minority, but I thought T Rex was chaotic, touristy, and served mediocre food.

I started taking my kids to Raglan Road -- right next to T-Rex -- when they were 3 and 5, and they insist we go there twice on every trip (they are now 7 and 9). The live dancing and music keeps my kids slapping the table for hours each trip.

T-Rex isn't even on our radar anymore. It's in our bottom 10 Disney Restaurants. If you want to see it just walk in and look around for 2 minutes.

So I'd recommend you consider RR over TR. I don't know anything about your tastes, but IMO, RR is far superior.

+1 Our girls (3 and 6) loved Raglan Road.

We will never go back. We could not hear a word anyone said at the table including the server. We basically had to scream and I still couldn't hear. The food was just Ok but if you had a real dinosaur lover it might be worth suffering through a visit. Luckily DD isn't a real fan :) Though she did love the visit to stuff-a-dino; $200.00 later she doesn't even play with the thing and it's expansive wardrobe :rotfl: Shoes, bags, jewelry, hair accessories, and outfits - a nicer wardrobe than mine

T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe are both chain restaurants owned by the same parent company that has nationwide restaurants. As a result, the menu and food quality are pretty reminiscent of any chain restaurant like Applebee's, Friday's, etc. Mediocre at best. Kids don't notice this, but it's worth noting for the adults of the group.

If you want something a little more unique to Disney, I second the recommendation of Raglan Road.

Another mom of a son with sensory issues whose love of dinosaurs overcame his discomfort with the loud noises and chaos. DS LOVES it. He may finally be outgrowing it a little at age 9, but it's been a much requested favorite for years. He was initially scared of the meteor showers, but got over it by his second trip there. DD kept saying it was too scary, and then wanting to go see all the scary dinosaurs up close. I'm trying to remember how old he was when we finally let him go... maybe 5. DD has been going pretty much her entire life because her brother wanted to go.

We thought the food was fine, but fairly generic. Honestly, we thought it was better than most of the quick service places around WDW, and most of the non signature table service restaurants, as well. (That is more of a complaint about the current state of food at WDW than praise of T-rex's food. ;) ) We were afraid it would be awful, after some of the reviews we read, and it wasn't awful. And everything was huge, so we should have ordered things we could share.

Can't compare it to Raglan Road, as we've never tried it. The one time we planned on Raglan Road, DS talked us into trying T-rex instead.
